I usually hang out over on the Trip Report boards, but I can't post there because my DH sometimes pops in to read my report(s).

Ed was a big WDW fan long before I ever set foot on property. (Our first family trip was in 2003 and now he's got me hooked!!) Every time we've gone as a family he must remark about a dozen times how great it is to stay at a monorail resort.

Monorail, Monorail, Monorail!! I swear, that man is in love with the monorail!

On his first visit (way back when) he stayed at the Poly, but he has always yearned to stay at the Contemporary. Every time we glide through that lobby, he talks about how cool it would be to stay at the CR! When we had breakfast at Chef Mickey's... wouldn't it be great to stay here? etc. etc.

Now, we've been DVC owners for the past 4 years and he loves all the DVC resorts. When he found out that the CR was to get its own DVC addition, his eyes glazed over and he murmured... "At last, maybe I'll finally get to stay at the Contemporary!" Well... cue the sound of the needle scratching across the record!!

BLT is way too point-rich for our little DVC contract!! We really do need to add on, but its not financially possible right now. Nevertheless, I was willing to give up a night of vacation this year and tried to book BLT. Nope. Nothing available for our stay. Zero, Zilch, Nada.

Okay, he was a big boy about it and has been very positive about our ressie at Kidani Village this Fall. But I knew that boyhood longing for the Contemporary was still there.


And so...


... I booked a three-day weekend for us to stay at the Contemporary for his birthday in January!!!! Now, it's hard enough trying to surprise your kids with a trip to Disney (others have done it... I never could), but just think about how hard its going to be to keep this secret from your own hubby!!! I just hope I can do it!! It would be so worth it just to see the look of total shock on his face when he learns that we're finally going to stay at his dream WDW resort!!

Whew!! Thanks for letting me vent! I just couldn't keep it in any longer!! You will keep my secret, won't you?

I have read every page on this thread and you guys do a wounderfull job at keeping it up to date. I have a crazy question to ask? Is there any secert passeges or tunnels under the CR or any little facts that a regular person wouldnt know about the CR. I am a CR freak and want to know everything about it. Thanks for any info about it.

Well I believe that is no 13th floor. So you got 1,2,3,4, ..., 10, 11, 12, 14, 15. Built back in the days when people when people were very superstitious...

I am not 100% sure about this, but in that huge mural on the 4th floor I believe there might be some hidden Mickey's in there.

I was hoping that someone could tell me whether or not the rooms at the Contemporary have drawers in them.
I haven't stayed at the Contemporary since 2001 , so the rooms are all new to me now.
I've seen alot of pictures of the new rooms and I don't see any drawers.

Yes all their rooms have drawers and they are located by the glass table next to one of the beds, so you can't miss seeing them.

HI all! we just got back from a great weekend at the CR. I took some new pool photos, marina photos, fantasia market photos and chef mickey's photos.
I'll post them up as I get them proccessed. BLT looks AWESOME!!! It looks complete and fits together with the contemp perfectly! it looks like they did an awesome job.

I don't think so... at least not in general anyway. I was at a conference 2 months ago and was staying at a Sheraton Grand Hotel, and just happened to get a room on the 13th floor. Luckily thats not one of superstitions i buy into

Really? Wow - 13 is my lucky number, so I was kind of hoping for a room on the 13th floor at BLT. Oh well, if that's the biggest disappointment on the trip, I'll be doing good.

Speaking of BLT, did they add any guest parking, or take away from the cast parking? Parking at CR has always been very tight, and I know they put that nice new drive through the parking lot to the main BLT entrance. I realize that until BLT opens, it won't be a problem, but I just wondered if anyone who has been there recently has noticed whether the CM's are still parking at the resort, or if they are parking somewhere else so there will be more room for guests.

I remember we used to try to time our arrival to about the time the housekeeping staff was finishing up for the day, because quite a few parking spaces would come available all at once - but you had to get there before the CM's working the evening restaurant shifts got them. You had maybe a 30 minute window to get a decent parking space.
