Congratulations on the upgrade!!

Doesn't it feel surreal?
Thanks! And congrats to you as well on your upgrade. It is very exciting! We've only stayed at Pop Century before, so this is a real splurge and treat for us. But with the 4/3 deal, how could we say no? :thumbsup2

Hi all,
Just got back yesterday from a wonderful 7-night stay at the Contemporary. It'll probably take me a few days before I have time to post a full trip-report with pics (and I promise to post a link to that TR on this thread), but I wanted to post a few quick highlights here:

Pool update:
I can confirm they are DEFINITELY putting in a kids splash-play area (a rather substantial one, at that). 3 different CM's confirmed this with me. They are actively working on this area and from what I heard & saw, it is expected to be completed in about a month or so (no exact date given). I took plenty of pics, which I'll include in my TR. Furthermore, they have been putting in a lot of new landscaping, which is going to give the entire pool area a much more tropical/lush feel. When it's completed, I really think it's going to be one of the nicer resort pool areas.

BLT update:
Looks like they're putting the finishing touches on BLT (I'll also have pics of BLT in my TR). Everything seems to be coming along nicely. It appears there will be plenty of palm trees sprinkled throughout the BLT grounds.

All in all, the resort was great. We had to change rooms after the 1st night because our 1st room was literally the closest room to Chef Mickey's (room 4101) and I think our bathroom housed the Chef Mickey speaker system. But the room they switched us to was perfect and everything else about the resort was wonderful. You cannot put a price tag on the walkway to/from the Magic Kingdom when you have a little one in a stroller. 8 minutes from the lobby to MK bag check.

Trip report & pics coming soon!...

Welcome home oasispaul and thanks a million for checking on the pool!! :worship: (Fingers crossed that it will be done for us next month!!!!:wizard:) Can't wait for your trip report!!! :goodvibes

For the AP holders, summer AP rates were released today (June 7-August 8) I only checked June rates, but for those who are curious ;)

CR Tower Bay Lake = $329 (pre-tax)
CR Tower MK View= $374 (pre-tax)

HTH someone!!!

OK experts! I need some advice (or convincing).

We are booked in a Tower Bay view (40% pin code-yeah!!) for late September. Now I am seriously considering the Atrium Club level. I have ready many mixed reviews on the Atrium Club, and now not too sure whether I should go for it or not.

I'd like to know your opinions on CR concierge service (if you've stayed in the recent past).

Also-I see that they have beer as well. Can you get more than 1 or 2 over the course of the evening? We like a drink while getting ready to go to dinner, then might enjoy another 1 or 2 after while waiting for/watching the fireworks. Are they 'stingy' with the beers? (the savings in beer alone- since it is so expensive by the bottle- is a big part of the consideration).

And do they still do the nightly turndown and let you put some soda/juice into your mini-fridge?

Thanks for any input! I am leaning toward it, but it would add another $473 for a 5 night stay. Trying to decide if it is worth it or not!?!??!:confused3

I'm not sure if you'd consider it recent enough or not, but we were upgraded to the Atrium Club at Christmas. We found the CMs to be very nice and very accommodating. We had breakfast in the lounge every morning, and snacks every afternoon. We were never there for the evening "hot" offerings, so I can't speak to those. Everything we had was great, although we did feel that the Poly CL had more to offer and we appreciated the fact that the Poly lounge kept their pop in a fridge so they were always cold, vs. the fact that they were served warm at the CR. A small thing, but it would've been nice to just grab a cold pop on our way out rather than having to remember to put some in the room fridge.

As far as the beer, they definitely weren't stingy at all. My dh would often grab one early in the evening and then another one later while we sat on the balcony. He liked that perk quite a bit.

They do turndown each night (though we turned down the turndown, LOL) and you can keep whatever you'd like from the lounge in your fridge. We also had a microwave brought to the room, which was great for heating up any leftovers we had brought back with us.

Hope this helps a little ... we really enjoyed our stay on the 12th floor! :thumbsup2

My family and I have had many Atrium Club Level stays and each one has been great, because we always keep going back to stay up there. The Cast Members are always very friendly, the lounge is great and the foods they offer taste amazing.

As for the Beers they put down out in a bucket from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and it's self serve, so that means you can take as many as you want.

They also do turndown service and you can take as many cans as you want of soda or mini bottles of apple juice to put in your mini fridge.

Speaking of beer...

On the CL thread today, someone mentioned Sam Adams being available at the Poly lounge. They didn't know if it was also available at the Atrium Club. Do you recall seeing it there?

I believe it was in the Atrium Club, however I am not 100% sure.

Thanks for the mini-update.

Yep, the walkway is fantastic. I'm always still surprised when we seem to be the only ones on it. Walking on the engraved stones though always makes me wish we could still purchase one.

And, yes, that CM noise drives me (DH/DD couldn't care less) batty, too. It's fine when you're dining there, but not when you're trying to relax/sleep. (I always ask to be as far from CM as possible.)

Me too :sad1: We talked about doing it on our honeymoon (never dreaming that they would stop selling them one day :headache:) and decided to wait...

On a MUCH happier note, my DME stuff came today!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

I would say that's a good sign and how it's meant to be that you can keep the secret.

shhh!!!!!!!!!! Don't jinx me! :rotfl: Thank goodness we are going in December too (the trip he does know about!) Every time I start to mess up and ruin the surprise, I pretend I was talking about that trip! :rolleyes1

Seriously, though, I have had this booked since November and I can't believe I haven't given it away!! So many of his friends at school went for their birthday's this year and he has asked at least 10 times why we aren't going...
