I have read various threads saying that from day 1 the policy has only been to allow only DVC Members staying there on points, however not all the Cast Members would check for the blue DVC Membership cards. Besides that I also read when you rent DVC points your Key To The World cards will say DVC Member, but the Cast Members would still need to see the member cards. So I guess you can try going again and see what happens, but don't be surprised if you get turned away.

I'm not a DVC owner by any means, but it's nice to see that you get SOMETHING special for all that money you pay!

but right now, I don't have time to read all 13 pages to see if my questions have already been answered. Never stayed at CR before and trying to decide if that is where we want to stay next fall. Is it noisy from the monorail or Chef Mickey's? Can you feel the vibration from the monorail? Also is there anywhere to see the MK fireworks if you don't get a MK view room? Do they have kid friendly food at the Contempo whatever it's called? Thanks for helping out a possible CR newbie!

I'm 23 days out and haven't received my ME docs. I shouldn't receive anything else because I'm on a room only reservation. I got concerned because usually I receive the ME docs a good month & half prior to my trip, so I contacted my TA last night.

In the past when I have been on a package, I've gotten the ME documents before the other trip documents.

Thank you.

I just received and email from my TA that she got my packet and I should have it in a coule days.

Welcome to the thread from a former fellow Hoosier.

I've never noticed any monorail noise or vibration, however, you can hear the "celebration song" from CM if you're close.

If you don't have a MKV, you can watch Wishes from the Observation Deck on the 4th floor (though that can get crowded), the beach or from CA Grill. If you have a reservation prior to Wishes, all you have to do is show them your receipt and they'll let you up so that you can view it from the 15th floor observation decks.

The Contempo Café does have kid friendly meals such as pizzas, burger, nuggets and turkey sandwiches. I love the CC! Here's a link to the menu:

Thanks for your answers! I guess I'm not too worried about the celebration music. We are early morning risers (well, I'm not but everyone else is - there is no NOT doing rope drop for us! ;) ) so the breakfasts shouldn't bother us. I kinda feel like from the picture of the floor plan that the rooms seem a little bigger. Am I imagining that or are they bigger than say POR? If anyone knows...

From what "The Unofficial Guide" says, the rooms at CR are MUCH bigger than the Moderates, I don't remember the footage, but CR rooms were put there in 72?, and are some of the biggest on Property.

You're welcome. The CR rooms are 420 square feet and they were built in 1971. The POR rooms are only 315 square feet.

Thanks! You are a WEALTH of knowledge! I'm impressed! By the way where in IN were you?
You're welcome and thank you for the compliment. It must mean I've been on the DIS too long:laughing:

I grew-up in Bloomington. What part are you from?

We're from Fort Wayne. But DH will always be a fan of The General! Well, I think you guys have convinced us to given CR a try for our next trip. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the next year for you all!

Ah, yes, Bob Knight, we actually lived on the same road.

If you can think of anymore questions, fire-away! I'm glad you're going to give the CR a try:goodvibes

Wow, what a small world.(Pun intended).

I was born in Fort Wayne, die-hard Hoosier, big fan of the General.

Go Hoosiers!

If you have a lake view room you can watch Wishes from the fire escape landing at the end of the concourse closest to the MK. The door only opens from the inside so bring a towel or something to keep the door from closing.

Me too! Apparently I'm a worrier :upsidedow

I have been noticing a real problem with ME. We are leaving in 10 days and have not received any of our ME docs. I am not too worried because we have been there so many times, and I know what to do. I am a TA, so I know these things happen, but if it was for a client, I would be a LOT more concerned. There is definitely a lack of consistency with this service.

My apologies if this has already been addressed, but a search didn't find it. I could swear I read somewhere that Disney was testing free wi-fi at the Contemporary this summer. Is that trial already over, or is it a myth, or what?

:welcome: to the DIS and the CR thread, Sani.

Yes, they were testing free WiFi in limited areas at the CR starting in the end of March '11, but it was only for 30 days.

We are currently booked for a one-bedroom villa at BLT. I am very nervous about it though, we've never stayed there before. I'm not a huge fan of the contemporary itself, but I think these villas seem really nice in pictures. I'd love a run-down on the pluses and minuses ... what's great about, what's not so great. THANKS! :goodvibes

They had the free wifi in the lobby still when we were there the Fourth of July weekend. My iPhone also picked it up faintly sometimes out on the balcony (front of the building lower floor), but I couldn't get it out back by the marina. It could be centered by the coffee shop area, which is in the front of the lobby.

I can't answer your question from experience, but hopefully someone else will. If someone doesn't here, I would also try the DVC forums. I hope you have a great vacation!

Thanks for letting everyone know. It seems the 30-day trial period that was due to end in April was extended:confused3
