Thanks for posting, this is the first I have heard of the Gingerbread Tree at CR and I did so much research on the trip I had to cancel this past November and never read a thing about it ............Is it something new? or just something not well known such as the GF Gingerbread House ?

Watching that video gave me the urge to change our dates in 2011 and try going again to see the Christmas Decorations

It feels a bit weird posting this but tomorrow my family and I will be back at WDW, however it will be our 1st time not staying at the Contemporary since December 2007, since were staying for a 2nd time at the Boardwalk Inn. Although I will be going to the Contemporary for Pin Trading on Dec 17 and we plan to visit there a few times and so we can eat at the Contempo Cafe. So I will talk to you all when I am home on Christmas Day.

Have a Very Magical time in WDW, the BW is a beautiful resort

Hello!:goodvibes
Does anyone know if the CR is resort-specific merchandise (for example a Contemporary sweatshirt or t-shirt)? I was hoping DD20 could pick me up a Contemporary sweatshirt over spring break when she stays there!
Thank you!:)

I wish I could answer YES. Unfortunately, Disney Resorts merchandise has dwindled down to practically nothing.

In August, the Poly seemed to have the most resort labeled merchandise, however, I don't recall seeing any CR shirts or sweatshirts or any item of clothing with the CR on it.

TaraPA and some others who post here were there this month and can probably verify this.

Last year was its debut:

So far, featured gingerbread displays on the Disney Parks Blog have been some of your favorites over the years – it’s the 10-year anniversary of the edible carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World and the 11-year anniversary of the giant gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

But there’s something new at Disney’s Contemporary Resort that’s just as impressive – a 17-foot-high tree with gingerbread shingles inspired by the Art of Disney legend Mary Blair. If you don’t know Mary’s work, it can be seen in the mural on the fourth-floor concourse wall.

To create the display, a team of 25 bakers used 136 pounds of honey, 101 pounds of flour and about 50 eggs. They also used 75 pounds of icing along with bags of spices and sugar syrup.

Oh, and if you enjoy Hidden Mickeys, the tree has a unique one. We’re sharing where it can be found after the jump:

Thanks for the info! Too bad there doesn't seem to be much resort labeled merchandise.
Thanks again for answering!:goodvibes

You're welcome, lala3291.

It ends up more profitable for WDW Resorts to homogenize all the merchandise. But, I (and you and many others) would probably be happy to pay a little more to get more resort-specific merchandise. They took away the resort-specific refillable mugs for the same reason - profits. It's a lot cheaper for WDW to have every resort have the same boring, generic mug, but the prices didn't go down, did they?;)

The only Contemporary logo merchandise I have seen is various pins, mugs sold in the Bay View Gifts store or post cards.

I remember a few years ago I purchased a Contemporary logo jacket at the Bay View Gifts store which I still have today.

Thank You , that explains it I guess since this is only the second year many must not know about it like they do about the Gingerbread house at GF and carousel at the BC.

Edited to delete question. Apparently I'm the jackalope who fails to read thoroughly enough to see my question has already been answered. :rolleyes1 What can I say: más caffeine, por favor.

Personally not sure about anyone else but buying resort specific items especially shirts was a given on each visit to WDW. I understand that it is cheaper to only purchase and sell only the "generic" items but it seems to me by eliminating the resort specific items WDW is also losing what I would refer to as guarenteed sales to many of it's visitors.

I miss the resort specific refillable mugs and if I collected pins I know that would be upsetting as well.

Thanks for that info! Have a great upcoming trip at the BWI!
