Well, we did it. We now own at BLT. :dance3: and are so happy. Can't want to stay there. Thanks for the thread, pictures, and stories.

:cool1:CONGRATS!!!!!!:cool1:

Congratulations. :thumbsup2

Congratulations!!!! :yay: (I'm sooo jealous!)

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!pixiedust::pixiedust:

Thanks for the wishes. I am not one to usually buy without looking first, but since we enjoy our DVC membership so much, and when at Disney, we find ourselves spending the most time at MK, Epcot, and MK resorts, it just seemed right. We are planning a 9 person THV next fall and are glad we own at SSR. We get to enjoy the best of both types of Disney resorts.

You're welcome.

1) CR Resort Fan 4 Life -- Have a wonderful trip!

2) Typically, when they release room only discounts (e.g., 40% off deluxe resorts), are there specific rooms allocated for that discount? My question specifically relates to GW rooms. I would like to reserve a room for next summer in hopes of a room only discount being released (would initially book with AAA rate), but it occurred to me that maybe those room only discounts are only available for tower rooms. If that's the case, I can't do it -- too much money. Thoughts?

Looks like you got a lot of great responses already, but wanted to add my personal experience if it helps. I went down for a short last minute trip last month and booked CR GW Standard view with the general public summer discount one week before the trip. I had been looking around on the website for weeks before I booked trying to decide what I was doing. At times there were no GW rooms and other times a GW GV would pop up. Then when I booked the standard was available with the discount.

i booked my room for june 2011 in june of 2010. they charge your credit card the highest rate at that time. (ours was over $700.00:eek:) a few weeks ago, i got an email that the rate has dropped over $125 per night, here is my new rate. if you find any deals on line or were ever, you can apply them to your ressi. you can cancell with a full refund up to 5 days prior to your check in date. ap discount or something usualy pops up in the begining of the new year. i would make your ressi now, you have to call you cant do it on line, and see what happens. if they do only have a few gw rooms, you already have your resi and if you catch it when it first hits, youll get the rate. i think your chances are pretty good. :thumbsup2

When I called to reserve my room last year, I did so before any deals came out. When I asked the CM on the phone about what would happen if a deal came out, they said that I should absolutely call back and they would apply the deal. Which is what I did. Mind you this was at CSR, not CR, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing this year at the CR!!!!!! :banana:

go for it!!! dw and i stayed in the tower, mk view, last may and we loved it. i dont think we had the tv on at all. we sat on the bed looking out the window like two little kids the entire time. :laughing: dd is grad. from hs this coming june and thats what she wants for her grad. present. i in a million years would never spend that kind of money on a hotel room, but we had such a great view and time that we have to do it again. :thumbsup2 we have been members of dvc for 11 years so we are kinda out of the resort resi. loop. this thread help me alot!! good luck!!

As someone else has stated, I think conventions have these rooms booked up right now. As of today, you can now check 2011 dates online and there was NOTHING for GW rooms for my dates (in June). I checked August for the heck of it (I'm not going in August) and some garden-view GW rooms came up, but nothing for standard view.

I think at this point, I'm better off making other plans for another resort and then I'll keep trying over the next several months for GW rooms to become available for my dates. Although, my staying at CR anyway (even the GW) would be dependent on a PIN or good general public discount. I was at least hoping to reserve now, though, but it doesn't appear I'll have that opportunity until those GW rooms become available for my dates.

Same thing happened last year. Give it a few weeks and the GW rooms will start to show up.

I hope so! I'm a little worried about 2011 prices, though. When I was checking out August (the month I'm not going) and looking at GW garden-view rooms, it looks like the rates have gone up considerably from this year -- it was like $25/more per night. I'm not sure if the standard-view will have the same rate of inflation, but it's making me wonder how much those standard-view rooms will be if/when they become available. Funny thing is, I was also checking out POFQ (because we stayed there this year and I was just curious), and it appears their rates haven't gone up at all for 2011.

After much deliberation, I am going to book the CR for my February trip. CR is my absolute DREAM resort, since I was a kid! Love everything about it and my all to brief visit last year, while dining at the California Grill, made me love it all the more! I'll get super excited as soon as I make the deposit! And here is where I will shamlessly plug the PTR you see in my signature! :cool1:
