CR Resort Fan - you are the CR expert, so my question is for you!! :worship:

Have you ever been in the beginning of September? I would like to go late September, but the dates available are only Sept 4-11. I doubt anything is going to open up either. Should we arrive before Labor Day and then maybe spend actual Labor Day at the resort pool? What do you think?

BLT should have an additional category of view rooms to split the bay lake views on the outside with the ones on the inside facing the pool. We stayed there and had specifically requested to stay on a high floor, on the outside, facing north. We were placed in the middle (9th floor) facing the pool. The rooms facing the pool have over half of the view blocked by other rooms. We spent the last four days of our vacation staring at other people on balconies, in various stages of disrobement. We tried to get a MK view, but those had been booked solid from the first day of the seven month booking period for non BLT owners. If DVC had a specific category, I would have either been guaranteed the view I wanted, or would have known I would be getting a pool view and not disappointed. I would have been willing to use more points for the additional view. My advice would be if you cannot get a MK view, don’t bother with a bay lake view. If you get stuck on the inside, your view would be just as good, if not better with a standard view. We were also supposed to be in a 2BR lock off, but got a dedicated 2BR. When we complained, we were told by the CM, “You can see the bay. You’re in a two bedroom. You got what you paid for.” If enough people complain about this, DVC might actually do something about it.

I am sorry to say I have not been there during the beginning of September, so hopefully someone who has will be able to answer your question.

I have been on Labor Day weekend before. Sat eve at the MK was a madhouse, but the rest of the weekend, while super busy, is manageable. Just go early and use fastpass. Then you can spend the afternoon at the pool. I will be there that weekend again this year, flying home on Sunday afternoon.

I have a question. Since the CR is a convention hotel, do they charge now for shipping boxes down, like the BWV does? We always ship a box down, and dh was not amused with having to pay them to give it to us last year.

Thanks!

I am not 100% sure because I do remember something about where a guest went to pick up a package in the convention center area and they were charged, although maybe it was something else. So hopefully someone who has shipped boxes there will be able to answer your question.

Maybe this can help - here is the link to the "shipping to your resort" sticky:

Single digit dance, baby!!!!!!

Just 9 days until we're back at our favorite resort. And MK view for Nightastic and Celebrate America fireworks. Yay!! :cheer2:

Had to post something about our last stay at the Contemporary just a few weeks ago. We were booked for a garden wing room (we've done tower and garden wing, but opted to save a bit of money this time as the garden wing is still very nice). Got to the front desk shortly after noon and I noticed a few CM's starting to surround us after I was almost done checking in. The CM at check in kept asking all of these random questions . . .anyway, it turns out we were "family of the day" at the Contemporary! Upgraded to a MK view and greeted with balloons & pictures. The CM's were so sweet and it was just a wonderful experience. I think my 2 little ones were just dumbfounded but they saw balloons so they figured, hey, this must be good:thumbsup2.

Anyway, just thougt I'd share - a truly unexpected but great experience. I have nothing but good things to say about the CR and the people that work there.

What a wonderful surprise for you and your 2 little ones:)

Congratulations on being the family of the day. :thumbsup2

So cool! That happened to the family that checked in right beside us last summer!

Congratulation on your Family of the Day upgrade!

Quick question. Do the Tower rooms have IPod docks? I believe they do but I am not positive. TIA

I ended up going with the DxDDP and just realized that we will receive the Resort Refillable Mugs. I stopped drinking soda over a year ago so what are the other options at CR other than soda. Do they have unsweetened ice tea? Also, where do you refill your drinks? When do you receive your mugs?

Also, I noticed we can do online check-in? We get to MCO around 9:30am so is it necessary to do online check in?

You just have to show them your room key at the Contempo Cafe and they will give you your mugs. We were on DxDDP in January but they gave us a free upgrade to Club level so we never used our mugs. I know the fill up stations are in the Contempo Cafe but I never notice what drinks were available.

We didn't do online check in but we arrived at 3pm by our own transportation so there was no wait for us. Have a great time I'm sure you'll love CR we did  I'm jealous we can't wait to go back next winter

Besides soda you can use the mugs for Coffee, Hot Tea and Hot Chocolate.

As for online check-in it's something my family and I have not used because we stay Club Level and can check-in on our floor, however it basically means you wait in a different line to pick up your KTTW cards and etc. It doesn't mean that your room would be ready when you arrive, although I think it asks what time you might be arriving so I guess they do the best they can to have it ready. So hopefully someone who has used online check-in before can tell you more information.
