Well I trust you more than them. I am going to ask for a higher floor then the 5th then. I told the guy I was scared of heights and he said 5th was the lowest Mk view floor. But I would rather bump up a few floors based on what you said .

The guy also said " Oh dont worry. I am terrified of heights as well and have stayed there over 20 times and never been bothered. In fact if you look over your balcony and fall you would only fall to the balcony below you because of the way its stacked. " I just said
" Oh THAT makes me feel MUCH better! " :lmao: He thought I was serious.
Well the highest non Club Level floor you can request is the 11th floor, although I am sure you will be happy no matter which one you stay on.

:lmao: So comforting to know that the Cast Members have been trained to tell people these little details to provide them with a sense of well being!

Well I can honestly tell you when I have been on the elevator in the Tower and it stopped at the 5th floor there was a wall covering the side where the Magic Kingdom View rooms would be like on any of the other floors. So anyone getting off there had a Bay Lake View. Plus a few years ago we once had a room on the 6th floor which was right over the Monorail station.

My son is very interested in watching the Monorail (last year we stayed in a 1 bedroom at BLT facing the entrance of the monorail into the Contemporary and he was thrilled!!), however, we've never stayed in the Tower. He wants to be able to walk out of his room and watch the monorail. Should I request a certain floor/area for this? If you are directly above or across from the monorail is it noisy in your room?

Also, are all the rooms in the Contemporary renovated with flat screens etc?

Thanks!!

Well if you are staying in the Tower with a Magic Kingdom View he will be able to see both the Resort Monorail and Express Monorail when they are both outside on the tracks going and coming back from the Magic Kingdom. Also all their rooms have the flat screen TV's.

Thank you! I'm assuming you mean being able to see the monorail from the balcony? What about when you walk out your door (looking down at the lobby?

Also, you said earlier that you once stayed on the 6th floor above the monorail. Is that noisy? Should I request a higher floor?

Yes I mean seeing from the balcony with the Magic Kingdom View.

Now if you didn't have the Magic Kingdom View you can not see the Monorail when you walk out of your room, because those rooms are located above the Monorail station. However if you had the Tower Bay Lake View then you can see the Monorail from that side when leaving your room. Although depending on how tall your son is you would need to pick him up to see the Monorail because of the railing.

Finally there was never any noise from the Monorail when we stayed on the 6th floor, however if you wanted to request a high floor the highest non Club Level floor in the Tower would be the 11th floor.

I pulled out my CR map from our trip last fall, and indeed, the 5th floor only has rooms 1-24 (Bay Lake views). 6th floor has rooms 1-48, with 25-48 being MK view rooms.

I agree with the other poster, I would always go with CR Resort Fan's info :worship:!!!

Well thank you CR Fan and Katepass -
I would have been one PO Dis'er if I requested what they " told" me to and didnt get what I paid for. Especially since I cant easily change it.
I just checked my email and it is down for a MK view. I thought maybe I was crazy for a minute.

Katepass - I agree . I would trust a Dis'er and CR expert anyday over the "Disney professionals " on the phone. lol

So CR Fan you are saying if you are on the MK view side and you walk out of your room toward the hallway then the monorail is across from you ( opposite side) ?

Also Are the Mk view rooms clustered more in the center of the resort and closer to the lobby / grand concourse ( rather than further down the hall ) ?

That would be great walking out of the room to see the monorail passing by .

Are the elevators on the far end of the hallways or is there a way to get down from the center area ?

I am trying to figure out the best way to access things with the dog. I know they are going to train me on different surfaces when I go pick him up ( i.e. escalators etc.) but I am hoping there is a elevator close by instead.

I believe the MK rooms describe all rooms in the tower ending in #25-48, which are on what I would call the "front" side of the tower. Again, I'm looking on a map they give you at check in. The monorail actually runs right below the MK view rooms; we stayed on the BL view side so we could easily see the monorail when stepping out of our room. The elevators are right in the middle (i.e. where rooms 36/37 are). Looks like rooms 25-35 would overlook Chef Mickey's/Contempo Cafe side as you step out of your room; rooms 38-48 would look over the gift shops. Have a great time!!

Can anyone tell me what time the lobby coffee counter (I can't remember the name of it) opens up in the AM?

Thanks ! I saw a lot of people complaining about noise and singing from Chef Mickeys when placed near it. I cant imagine hearing people sing at Disney would bother me though ! It will be our first time onsite ( And with a Mk view to! Woohoo) and I am looking foward to being totally immersed in it all. Anyway thanks for the info. Think I will try to ask for a area near the restaurant or shops so we can look over when we come out. :thumbsup2

It's called the Contemporary Grounds Coffee Bar. I do know they're open early AM to evening, but I can't find their exact hours posted anywhere.

Actually what I meant was if you have the Magic Kingdom View the Monorail station for the Contemporary is right under those rooms. If you have the Bay Lake View the Monorail station would be across from your rooms.

Also the elevators for each of the Tower floors are located in the central area in the middle.

According to one of my previous Contemporary fact sheets I got at check-in it says the Contemporary Grounds is open from 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM, however I believe their closing hour has changed and that fact sheet is a few years old since it still lists the old Concourse Steakhouse.

Thank you!! We've got some early breakfast reservations for this upcoming trip and it would be nice to get some "good" coffee.

You're welcome and I forgot to mention that their 7:00 AM opening is still the same, because I have seen them open past that time on my previous Contemporary stays.

All of your information sounds 100% correct.
