A couple questions for you ... What would/could I expect from a "lake view" 1-bedroom villa? Would I have view of Magic Kingdom/fireworks? Is the music piped in on one of the TV channels?

Also, does the Bay Lake Tower have in-room dining available?

Thanks!

There are three BLT/Bay Lake View options:

There are the inner villas which face both the pool and BL.

There are outer rooms on two sides of BLT: The south facing outer villas face toward the CR/BL and the north facing outer villas face toward the tennis courts/MK/BL.

Here is a link to the BLT room view thread which might help you, too:

Yes, you can order room service at BLT. The food comes from the CR.

Yes, the music is piped-in on channel 20, I believe.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for posting Recreation Activities!!

How good is the blow dryer in the BLT?

I was hoping not to bring my big blow dryer!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks so much, WDWKOOK! That Activity Schedule is exactly the kind of information I've been hoping for! I really appreciate you posting it!

I actually did the beads recreation at BLT and made a cute little flower!! I loved doing the kiddy things:lmao: I loved BLT!!

You're welcome. I believe the hair dryers are the same as the CR's, full-sized and not attached to the wall, but I couldn't find any photos.

I'm so glad you can use it:). Have a great vacation!

Thanks for the schedule!!! I think DH would be very interested in beer tasting!
You're welcome. My DH would have enjoyed the beer tasting, too. In fact, any beer at all would be great now that he's on "dry land" in Afghanistan:sad2:

Thanks for the link! So, if I'm reading this right, it looks like I would want to request "high floor, North-facing" if I hope to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks? Does that sound correct?

Also, we're thinking of switching there to be on the monorail. Are there are any differences, service-wise (housekeeping, amenities, etc.) that I should be aware of between the resorts and villas? Our reservation is through Disney directly and we'll be paying cash. Do you still get daily housekeeping, towels, shampoo, etc.?

List you room location request in order of preference. In your case (BLV), I would request:

1. North-Facing (OR "Even numbered room" - odd numbered rooms are south-facing)

2. High Floor

From the BLT room view link I posted yesterday, here are some links to photos of the type of 1-bedroom BLV villa view I think you're after:

Because you are staying on a cash reservation, daily housekeeping is included. If I understand your question correctly, if you're staying on a cash reservation, there is no difference service-wise between the DVC and non-DVC resorts. You will have to check-in at the CR though and you won't be able to access the Top of the World Lounge on a cash reservation.

I just booked a one night Magic Kingdom View Atrium Club Level for the last night of our anniversary trip. Does this particular reservation guarantee that my room will be facing straight at MK...or could I end up looking at Bay Lake?

I only ask because the Disney websites states under MKV Club description: Concierge service standard Contemporary Tower room offers views of Magic Kingdom theme park, Bay Lake or the parking area.

You will have a view of the MK.

Oh...you will REALLY love it!! ;)

We stayed at the CR last week, for the first time. It was great!
We had the biggest surprise, with lots of pixie dust!

We arrived around 6:00 pm., and when we checked in we were told we were family of the day, and would be staying in the Hospitality Suite! pixiedust: Several CM's presented us with balloons and took our picture (after a 13-hour drive).:laughing:

This was an upgrade for us, as we had booked a standard view garden wing room.

THe suite turned out to be the very first room in the GW as you enter from the main bldng., so very convenient. And it was absolutely beautiful and huge!

We loved the CR. So convenient to walk to and from the MK, and we love the monorail.

My kids loved the pool- and the ping pong table and fountains.

We ate at the Contempo cafe alot- ate in and carried out. THe food we got was always very yummy, and the cm's there were all nice. I will say that there wasn't a great deal of choice among the menu items there, but I do understand that quick-service at the Deluxes is much more limited than at the Mods or Values. So it was expected. I was hoping for more fast options from the fridge case, like cold lunch meat sandwiches, but I never saw any. Last year at the Poly was our first stay in a Deluxe after many POR/FQ stays, so we are still getting used to the smaller quick-service delluxe eateries.

So it was a great experience- we liked it as much as the Poly, though the themeing and whole feel of the resort is very different. The Poly was a very relaxing feel, while the CR was more like a bustling city.

One other thing we liked about the CR as opposed to POR/FQ and the Poly is that we could get from the bus stop or monorail to our room during a heavy rainstorm (there were many last week) with a roof over our heads the entire time.

That is so cool! What an amazing way to start off a trip. And yes, as PP said, pics please!

Just stayed at the BLT last week in 1 bedroom lake view. We requested an even # room, on the north side, high floor. We were given room 8012. It was all our requests. I posted here http://s904.photobucket.com/albums/ac246/gipperland/ . I don't know how to pick a few and put the directly on my reply.
We were granted all our request. I LOVED our room and the BLT! It is awesome! Worth every penny! We were cash reservation as well and had housekeeping everyday. They forgot to replace our clothes soap , so I called and everyday it was replaced. Our shampoo, soap, creme rinse, and lotion were all replaced as needed.
Our view was so good there was no need to go anywhere to watch the fireworks, but our room. Channel 20 is the channel that plays the story/music.
The person that asked about the blow dryer, it is in the drawer in the master bathroom. It is a full size. I don't know how it worked because I brought and used my own.
Hope this helps.

Here are pics of the Hospitality Suite in the Garden Wing.

We walked in to what looked just like a regular King bed room. Then we went through the connecting door, and saw this:

There was also a regular bathroom in the king room, another bathroom with a glassed-in shower, as well as an additional powder room.

There were three seperate hallway entrances to the suite. It was nice on nights that DH had DD came in as I was trying to get DS to sleep in the bed. If they had come in the room just as he was drifting off, he would have snapped awake immediately. So I would just text them to come in the other door, and he could get to sleep w/out interruption.

We had four sliding doors out to the patio, which was the size of four patios. And it had a great view of the pool.

Wow! That's exactly what we are hoping for. Thanks for the pics!!

I tried to call and put in a room request today and the person I spoke with kept asking me why I wanted a room on the North side. When I said I was hoping to see the fireworks she gave me a lecture about how if I wanted to see fireworks I had to pay to see fireworks and no one gets to see a theme park unless they pay for a theme park view. I was very nice and said, several times, that I knew nothing was guaranteed and that I was absolutely NOT trying to get anything beyond the room category I paid for (lake view). It ended with me saying, that I understood it was unlikely, but I hoped she would still note my request. (I was too shocked to even be upset so I did nothing but apologize throughout the call.)

I'm now afraid they noted something or did something that will screw up my reservation. She also told me that since I had been there three times before I should know better. I told her I was sorry but I'd never stayed at a Disney resort before and she said, "That's not what it says here." My son is three and there's three of us; the only place I can imagine that number coming from. I actually ended up saying, "I've never been there before. Really. Sorry if there's any confusion."

Really don't know what upset the person I spoke with as our entire conversation was basically ...

HER: How can I help you?
ME: I'd like to add a room request to my reservation. I know it's not guaranteed.
HER: No problem. What's your request?
ME: I'd like something on the North side, if possible, high floor. I think the North rooms are the even-numbered ones, based on what I've read about the resort.
HER: Can I ask why you'd make that request?
ME: I'm sure anything we get will be great, but we were hoping we'd be able to see some of the fireworks from our room or balcony, since my son goes to bed pretty early and we're not likely to be in the parks much after dark. I'd heard that might be possible from the North side.
<cue lecture listed above>

Hello :goodvibes

Looking for some advice from the Contemporary vetrans please - we had booked a Tower MK room but can not get a discount for our date but our travel agent got us a Standard Room - Club level on an AP discount.

She is now on vacation and can't check with her but when I worked the room rates back it looks like it will be on the Tower Club rather than Atrium Club.

So my question is do the rooms on the 14th floor have the same bedding as the rest of the tower? I can not seem to find photos of the standard rooms on the 14th?

Also are we going to have a problem as we have a 2 year old DD and need a bath and I notice that there are not many rooms on the 14th floor and from this thread I think only 2 have a bath - is this right?

Thanks for your help - we are so excited this is my DH & mine childhood dream being fulfilled :goodvibes
