Did you happen to ask what happens to those who had reservations to stay up there during the time the floor and their rooms are to be renovated? I know that the Tower Club floor sells out a lot faster then the Atrium Club floor and one of the reasons is their various suites which get reserved at least 1 year in advance. So I am willing to bet some guests had upcoming reservations up there which will be effected by this renovation.

I didn't ask. But, it sounded like they were "gutting" the entire floor! I imagine it was planned a long time ago and they blocked off any reservations during the renovation period. I would be really mad if I had to listen to construction sounds during my stay! I guess they could work on a room or two at the time and keep the rooms on the other side open. We peeked out on the 12th floor and it looked like it was set up the same as our floor. They could just shut off "half" of the floor while it was going on and maybe it would not cause much commotion. But, the workers coming and going all day....the noise....it sounds like it would be a nightmare!

Maybe someone staying up there this month will post a review!

That's a good point about not allowing anyone to make a reservation up there well in advance. However if that's true wouldn't it got posted on here or other WDW message boards? Usually when the new set of resort rates are released it's for all the room categories of that specifc resort and when the most recent Contemporary rates for 2011 were released they included the Tower Club floor for the whole year.

Well, I recall asking here last year if anyone has ever seen the Tower Club rooms listed on the WDW booking site because I had been looking for this summer and never saw them. I've seen the Hospitality Suite and Deluxe room in the GW, but I never saw the Tower Club suites listed:confused3

I know a few years ago I have seen the Tower Club rooms available on their website, although you had to be specifc when looking them up like only putting in Club Level rooms only. Plus right now they also have 16 total rooms when you include their Suites and Standard Rooms, so maybe it just wasn't available when you looked it up. I like to think of them as the Deluxe Club Level Rooms at the Boardwalk Inn because they only have 10 of them and once they are sold out chances are you won't see them online again, no matter if it's under the rack rate, room only discount or Free Dining.

I forgot to mention a few years ago after floors 5 - 12 in the Tower and the South Garden Wing rooms were renovated, the last thing they did was a minor renovation to the 14th floor. Well I remember asking what happened to guests with reservations during that time and one Club Level Cast Member told me anyone staying up there got moved around. So using that example in the past guests have made reservations for a specifc room category and later on were told they had to change because of a renovation.

Also before the Concourse Steakhouse closed they were accepting ADR's for dates after it was scheduled to be clossed. A couple of years ago before it was officially announced by WDW the closing dates got leaked out, however the WDW Cast Members who took ADR's didn't know that and as far as they were concered if a guest wanted to eat at the Concourse Steakhouse during those dates they had to make them that ADR. Now after WDW made it official that it was closing then anyone with ADR's was called and told they needed to change whatever ADR's they had there.

Hopefully more info on this reno will come out shortly. We haven't booked anything yet, but we are considering a 2 week split stay in Dec. 2011 with CR being part of that stay. But there are 2 or 3 other Deluxe Resorts we would also like to try if there are on going Reno's that will affect our stay.

Well if you were planning on staying on any of their other Tower floors the renovation to the 14th floor won't be a problem, because it's en-closed and you can't hear anything happening up there when it's renovated.

The California Grill is on top of the 14th floor and you cannot hear a thing....which is unbelieveable when you think about it! When those elevator doors open on the 15th floor, the noise level is incredible! You would never know that was above you when you are anywhere on the 14th floor! :) So, I imagine if they are renovating the 14th floor, then you certainly would not hear anything on the 12th.

I feel like a started a rumor! :rotfl: But, 2 of the CMs were telling us about the renovations when we were there, so it really must be true. Since our next trip there won't be until late 2012, we didn't ask all of the "important" questions. :) I guess we will all just have to wait and see what all the fuss is about. I am more interested NOW than I was when we found out about it. popcorn::

Speaking from experience it's a whole different world staying on the 14th floor and the best part is not having to hear any of the noise from the 4th floor, although that hasn't ever been a problem for me.

I see what happened:
"The California Grill is on top of the 14th floor and you cannot hear a thing"

What I was saying is that the restaurant is right over your head if you stay on the 14th floor and you can't hear any of the noise above you - ever! Incredible!

We loved every minute of our week there!

I can agree because in May 2000 my family and I got upgraded to a Standard Room on the 14th floor and noise was never an issue from the California Grill or the 4th floor.

All we want is a tower room with MK view and reasonably quiet. A little noise from Chef Mickey's during the day won't bother me, but the wife will complain, which will in turn bother me. :rotfl:

Well that type of reservation you can make right now and request a room away from Chef Mickey's.

Hi all..
This may seem like a silly question, but if the monorail is having difficulty (power outage, etc.) how do you get to Epcot? Are there busses running?
