The AKL Lodge bus does NOT go to AK

Just clarifying in case anyone here needed to know.

How many times did the bus driver have to clarify that point last week? Hmmm, I think at every stop EXCEPT the AKL's own bus stop at AKL.

Perhaps Disney should have named AKL something unique, not to be confused with AK! Seriously, I think at every stop except AKL's busstop at AKL, people asked if the bus went to AK. And everytime, the driver patiently replied with a polite no, and informed the visitor to proceed to stop #(whatever). Oh my, the patience of those bus drivers!

And as for AKL busses - excellent! We had great, timely service all week!

There was a couple and their children that got on the AKL bus at the MK, they were quite upset when they found out they were going to the lodge and not the park because they had an ADR for the Breakfastasaurous. The bus driver did ask us if we were going to the lodge or the park. I'm not sure if he was just making sure we were going where we wanted to go or if he would have taken the bus to the AK instead of the AKL if we all wanted to go to the park.

I think the confusing part for people at MK who want to go to AK is that the bus for AK does NOT leave from the MK bus stops. You have to ferry or monorail to the TTC to catch a bus to AK or MGM. Some people don't read signs close enough or pay attention, I guess.

BINGO! That was my number one frustration as a bus driver. The never ending "Where do you go???" Umm... exactly where my bright orange destination sign says I go.

But Tyler... if you wanted people to actually read the signs, you'd have had to have been in a fur costume like Chip or Dale. That way, the only way they'd know is to actually read the sign. LOL!

I think, based on our experience 12/18 to 12/25, that part of the problem in this is that resorts SHARE bus stops and people just assume that every bus that stops there goes to their resort. I don't know how many times I saw people ask the bus drivers...."this bus goes to XYZ resort?" only to be told no. Yes, part of it is because folks don't read those flashy signs on the bus front and sides. I did have one young boy at DD ask me if I spoke Spanish, which I do enough to answer his questions. He was trying to get to one resort but due to the language just didn't get it, so I explained and emphasized that he read the sign ON the bus.

We had a heck of a time at Epcot one night after Illuminations trying to get on the SSR bus. The stop is shared with OKW and the line filled up the corral area to the end...we were about the middle and everyone in front of us, save for the first 5-6 people, were going to OKW. Well, when the SSR bus arrived, I asked to be let by to get to the bus and got the dirtiest looks from some folks...I asked if they were waiting for SSR or OKW and if told OKW I asked to pass using my please and thank you's like Momma taught me.

At DD the first day I felt like a total Dory though...we'd eaten a late lunch at Olivia's OKW, hopped the bus to DD to transfer to a bus to SSR. Well, we get dropped off at bust stop #3 but back a bit...walk to the front of the stop see the SSR bus right there and walk right on. Wow! We thought...what luck! Well, the driver looked awfully familiar...but it was our first day...the bus looked awfully familiar...but it was only the 3rd one for this trip...then a couple of people looked familiar...dagnabit it was the same bus we'd just gotten off!!! I knew that one drink couldn't make me that loopy...just a dory moment. lol

Actually, that's almost not a Dory moment. The buses get new dispatches every time they return to a hub (theme park). So, the OKW bus turned into a SSR bus when it reached the Marketplace. How were you supposed to know before you got off

Thanks for that...for about 5 minutes after we boarded I really thought I'd lost it...or maybe that one drink I had really packed a whollup!! After that happened we did start asking (or at least paying attention to the bus driver's board above their heads) to see where the bus was headed next from DD.

Yeah...we know that, but for some reason we just don't have good luck with the DD to SSR/OKW boat...everytime we ever tried to use it this trip and on our June trip either the boat just left, would be a long wait or was too windy...I think the boat gods are against us...lol
