the age-old question: SPRING or FALL?

Hi everyone! I've not yet decided which program I want to do for the CP, and one of the main factors is that I have no idea if I should choose Fall or Spring term!

There are pros and cons of each and I just wanted to get everyone's opinions before I decided.

For example, obviously Fall seems a bit nice because it will be less hot. On the other hand, I've never missed Thanksgiving or Christmas with my relatives, not to mention Halloween and New Years. HOWEVER! I've always wanted to be in WDW for ALL of those Holidays, so it's like killing 4 birds with one stone! But I'm sure my parents + relatives would be a little less enthusiastic about that.

Spring, I dunno, it still seems nice but I imagine it must be so hot. I wish I could think of some pros, especially because I was sort of leaning towards Spring anyway, so if someone could help me out with that ;)

Finally, I was wondering how the transition was for each term. I mean, if you do Fall CP, is it kind of hard going back to college for spring semester, since you've just missed half the year? But of course, doing Spring, you have so many months without school that maybe going back the following fall semester is equally hard xD

I'm just rambling on here, but ANY input is much appreciated!

Personally I wanted to do Spring first but I didn't get in so now I am applying for the fall. I liked the spring better because I have the same worries about being away from my family for the holidays. However after i didn't get in I didn't want to wait a whole year to apply again so I thought this really is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I have always wanted to be in Disney for the holidays. I think if you are going to do it soon maybe just apply now for the fall, see if you get in and decided if you could do it. and if you don't get in or you don't want to go, you will have experience with the interviewing process and you wont be as nervous next time. I hope I helped a little!

The fall is soooo much fun. Being there for Halloween and Christmas and Food and Wine is the best! And you get the holiday discount on merchandise and resorts. I loved my Fall program more than I like my Spring so far!

Personally, I picked the Fall. You get to be at WDW for all those awesome holidays! And go to the halloween and christmas parties, PLUS experience the Food and Wine Festival. It starts to get cooler around October, so the weather is great. And you get to apply NOW, rather than waiting til August. :)

Oh gosh it looks like Fall really is ideal! My problem is, I don't think I'd be ready in time to do Fall for 2010. And Spring also seemed fun because, if I got to do Spring 2011, I'd see my little brother while he's on his senior class trip for high school xDD
But of course, if I chose next fall, then I have to wait a whole year and a half!!! And by then I'll be a junior! Oyyyy it's so hard to decide...

i suggest just applying and then see where you are. If you get in then you can decided if you really want to go now. And if you don't then you have valuable experience for next time! Take it from someone who knows, I felt much better this time around.

Fall hands down. When you're in Disney for all those holidays, you won't miss ur family at all. Nothing beats Disney over the holidays.

I'm doing Fall because I am graduating, so I have to :P I think it will be fun being there for the holidays and my family is going to try to make it out for a trip (though they are from Seattle so that is a very expensive trip!).

However, if I weren't graduating, I would have probably chosen Spring because Fall semester at my school is SO MUCH FUN. Football games, Halloween, Homecoming, etc. I love my college in the Fall.

My vote is for Spring. I get homesick very easily and it is normally hard for me to be away from home for long periods of time (I go to school in Florida.)

When I did my last CP, the only holiday I missed was Easter, and I was still really homesick. If you are a homebody, Spring might be a better option for you.

Having that said, I am graduating like Melinda, so have no choice this time around!

I'm graduating too, so the Fall choice was made for me. It's Fall or never!

As much as I feel like I will be homesick, there will be so much to do during the holiday season that I'm sure I won't have much time to sit around and be sad. Besides, I've always wanted to be in WDW in autumn and Christmas is my favorite time of year so the opportunity to experience those will be fantastic!

Would there be any chance that your family could come visit you while you'd be on the CP? My dad told me that if I get accepted, my family will probably try to make a trip before Christmas after my sister finishes the semester.

Spring would be a really great time to be there too, if you absolutely don't want to miss the holidays at home! I think the one thing I truly wouldn't like is the weather getting progressively hotter instead of cooling off as the program goes.

I wish! Unfortunately due to a 450-mile distance, I only get to see my relatives twice a year -- for Thanksgiving and Christmas! And we make a big to-do about it. For Thanksgiving it's a tradition that they all come to our house, and for Christmas we go up there. So my immediate family wouldn't have time to come see me! And my relatives simply couldn't afford to come down to Fl if we decided to relocate for one of the holidays.

I can tell my mother is veeeery reluctant to let me miss Thanksgiving and Christmas. But I think the weather and holidays sound so much nicer than in the Spring @___@ Ohh making decisions is so hard!!!

I see! The only family I see at Christmas are my parents and my sister, so my holidays are pretty low-key. I can understand why you'd be hesitant to miss out on all of that visiting with relatives!

My mom hasn't expressed any sadness over the possibility that I wouldn't be home for any holidays, but I know that when the time comes she'll be really sad. :sad1:

I agree with the suggestion that you could always apply and then if you decide not to go, decline the invitation. At least then you'll know what to expect when you apply with certainty! Good luck with your decision!

Thanks Tink!! ^___^ It's quite funny because my family never celebrates anything yet for some reason we LOVE Christmas.
I've been talking to my best friend about it and the more I mention Fall, the more I think it's the better choice. Not to mention she said she and her family would come down and visit me if my own family couldn't. <3 <3

So if I were to apply for Spring, and got accepted (I hope!), but then declined, that wouldn't put any blemish on my record? It'd just give me the experience of applying/being interviewed? :)

No there is no blemish, they understand things come up and people can't always do it after the express interest. Don't worry about that at all. °o°
