I am going in September for 7 nights 8 days and we have been 5 times in as many years, but now with FP+ I am thinking we might get a little bogged down. Would touring plans .com be useful to us? Has anyone used it and had awesome success? I have never used it so I am at a loss.:confused3

I like touring plans, but I haven't used it since fast pass plus. Weare going inAugust and what it has done for me so far was help organize our overall strategy for each day. But I get a little over excited with the planning. I really love it. Touring plans is like one more toy for me to plan with and make my trip real until I can reserve my fast passes. And I've looked at easy wdw.com, but not played with it. I get to reserve my fast passes this wednesday

I like Touring Plans for their app and general information. I use EasyWDW for best days and other suggestions.

Touring Plans is worth the ten bucks (use a promo code and save 20%). I keep saying I'm not going to subscribe, then something always brings me back. I mostly use their crowd calendar. Avoiding crowds is important to me, so i do lots of research before i make my ressies. And they have the app and all. If you are a big planner, and like that part of it, I say do it.

Just to confuse things, have you checked out easywdw.com?

Its not even comparable...

Its like comparing the weather on the nightly news to the weather-underground.

One is likely a free easy way to get an overview but there is more in-depth hourly knowledge that comes from paying for the internet access to get to underground.com

Easywdw.com (is great for the daily calendar - lately sounds like it been a little more accurate as well)
TouringPlans.com (is great for the in-park apps, ride by ride analysis, and ability to have it create a touring plan on the fly and optimize it throughout the day)

I subscribed to Touring Plans for our trip July 21-26. The crowds will be heavy and I wanted a good touring plan to minimize wait. I've been checking the wait times on the app several times a day. I match our plan with current times/waits and TP estimates are right on target. :thumbsup2

I had awesome success with our very first trip using the plans from the book. This was back before the website. I went with an aunt who goes frequently in the off-season, but had never used a touring plan before. We went in a moderate time. It wasn't peak, but it was by no means the off season, way more crowded then she had ever seen the parks before. She kept commenting throughout the whole trip how much we were getting done and how much we were walking straight onto rides or waiting a very short time for them. She just couldn't believe it. She said she'd never done this much this fast on any of her previous trips even if the parks were overall less crowded on those trips.

The plans basically kept us 1 step ahead of the crowds or in a different part of the park from where the crowds were. It wasn't that there weren't long waits for rides, there were. It was just that there weren't long waits when we walked up. We'd come back by the same ride later and see a 30 minute wait posted or more.

Now, however, I'm not sure how effective the plans are because I don't know that there is enough data out there yet to really understand how FP+ is effecting crowds.

It really depends on what type of planner you are. I plan out every single ride in order, so TP is a huge help. If you aren't into that level of planning, I think easywdw for park day recommendations and a little research on which rides are headliners should be enough for a Sept trip. In the fall after school starts, most rides don't have long lines to begin with. It's only the most popular you need to worry about. Schedule FP for some of those and hit the other ones at RD, and you really won't need to worry about the rest of the park. It should average about 20 minutes or less. When TP plans really comes in handy is in the peak season not the off season when you can walk on most rides to begin with anyway.

Besides the plans, TP has great time charts that give you estimated wait times throughout the day by date for each attraction. They also have good attraction descriptions and helpful touring tips, but most of this information is in the book. I think the book is a great investment for a first time visitor with lots of helpful interesting information on everything from restaurants to parts to resorts.

If you want to plan in detail, personalize schedules, or use their lines app for while your in the park, you need to purchase the TP subscription as well. Book owners get a discount.

I disagree. EasyWDW has, in MY experience and opinion, done better when it comes to best days and has some great touring plans. Is it as customizable? No. But then I sort of hate the customized touring plans on Touringplans.com because they often end up very unrealistic for me. I have better luck with having an idea as to what attractions are best to hit when because that allows a bit more flexibility if something goes "off".

I use both. Neither one is really "better" as a whole then they other. They both have strengths and both have weaknesses. But used together, they kick butt.

I tend to use both as well, and allears, and the dis, and mouse-savers. You can never have too many sources of information.

We really like touring plans and they have updated to include FP+. If you plan to pound the park and ride and see everything, then their plans are really good. We used them quite a lot in our earlier trips with great success. Now that we have been multiple times we like to take a slower approach. I love the book, Hidden Magic of WDW, the Hidden Mickey App and book, and relaxing at the beautiful resorts. But I still refer to touring plans quite often as a resource.
