~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

Ok.. I have a confession to make...... pst.... come closer... I'm going to whisper it to you.... ok, now.... I would never say this over on the Twi board but here, amongst friends, I feel comfortable saying..... (sigh)..... in white for embarrassment sake: I have no idea who Bree Tanner is

THERE I SAID IT... I GOT IT OFF MY CHEST! :heaves heavy sigh:

Ok.. soooo... yea... if somebody would remind me who she is and where she fits in then I can go read the book since my DMIL got it for me from the non-holdables at the library already. :rolleyes1

lmbo at Mel.. Bree is the vampire that the cullens are willing to save at the very end of the newborn battle but the volturi kill her anyway.

my vaca pics will be on my facebook soon enough. i took over 800 pictures and have yet to sort through them. have you ever taken an alaska cruise? you can get on one of those cheap enough and can drive to the port.

Maybe I'll wait until after I see Eclipse to read the bree tanner book. I only read the Twilight series once. I know, right? I am so unworthy. Too bad. :)

just once... :::gasp::: i think i'm on my 6th or 7th read... i will read eclipse again right before the movie comes out. i don't know why i do that but i want to remember the details and compare it to the movie.

i don't think it would make a difference if you hold off on reading the bree book but your DMIL went through all the trouble of getting it for you... just sayin'

gasp, I know ;) Ah well.... :surfweb:

Thank you for the advice on the Bree book...that is a totally good point.

You are not alone, I've read the books maybe twice. Any other times, I've just merely skimmed them. I didn't know who Bree Tanner was at first, I had to research a little! :thumbsup2

I picked up Alex Flinn's (Beastly) new book A Kiss in Time, this one is based on Sleeping Beauty. We'll see how it is...

I have read both and they were both really good! I like Beastly a little more but still good. I read A LOT of YA fiction. Around 3 or 4 a week. I only like the clean books though! I tried to read Blue Bloods a few months ago and threw it away about half way through. My fav's so far have been Fallen and Shiver. OH I also loved the City of Bones Trilogy!

For those that have read The Lords of the Underworld:

I'm reading "The Darkest Passion." Many mentions so far of angel Lysander (and his woman Bianca) and his backstory connection. Which book was he in? I've read them all except 3.5, "The Darkest Prison." But the synopsis on goodreads doesn't mention Lysander. So what did I forget?

i've read them and that also doens't ring a bell. how are you liking it?

i've just started the georgina kincaid books by richelle mead. it's good so far. i didn't realize there would be 'mystery' involved. i'm not big on mystery/suspense. but in this case it really isn't the focal point of the book so i'll keep reading.

Well, crap, lowie! ;)Maybe Desnik knows. There is really a huge deal made about Lysander and Bianka, but I can't remember him at all and Bianka was just one of Gwen's harpy sisters from the last book. I'm liking Aaeron a lot. These books are fun. Let's face it, they're all virtually the same, name changes, but I'm lovin' them!

I have to go back a few pages, but is it the Vampire Academy books that everyone was raving about? Also by Richelle Mead? Is the Geogia Kincaid series young adult or adult?

So I tried reading Beyond the Highland Mist. Wasn't keeping my attention. Maybe another time. And I got started on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Has anyone read this? There has been so much hype about it, being the "IT" book, but I couldn't get into it. And the more I read about some of the themes of the book series and what happens to woman in the books, the more I was put off my them. Should I just give it a shot?

you're right about the showalter series being all one book with different names. Her other series, atlantis somethingorother, had slightly different themes, one being a really cheesy 'reality show' type storyline...

yes, richelle mead wrote the vampire academy books, but these are very different and definately adult. the lead character, a succubus named georgina is somewhat similar to VA's Rose. in that she's pretty self centered but otherwise a completely different story.

i think i may have listened to Beyond the Highland Mist on audio and thought it was good. the reader was excellent. is this the one where the woman gets thrown back in time and 'hates gorgeous men'?? i definately wouldn't have read the whole thing as i don't like book that have 'brogue' writing. does that make sense?

i haven't read the dragon tattoo one, but i've seen it on amazon. you should read it and let us know if we should read it too!

I've thought of picking up the Georgina Kinkaid books on many occasions but haven't, I don't know if I'll like them.

Just thought I'd recommend an awesome book I'm reading, it's called Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson who also wrote Speak which I love. It's a great book about the Yellow Fever plague, almost done with it.

I am on the third Mortal Instruments book. I am really enjoying them! Can't wait to find out what happens in the end!!! Surely they aren't really brother and sister....or are they? I wish there was more than three...

i'm about 1/4 way into the third richelle mead book from her succubus/georgina kincaid series. similar to the vampire academy books she has a selfish and self centered heroine. the last book i almost flounced on when georgina pulled a major Rose deal..

they are fun books though, pretty easy to figure out the 'big' mystery/evil plot. but it's sexier and way more adult than the VA books.

I have been away from this thread too long!!!

So to answer about the Lords of the Underworld, here is the book order:
The Darkest Fire (prequel)
The Darkest night
the Darkest Kiss
The Darkest Pleasure
The Darkest Prison (3.5)
The Darkest Whisper
The Darkest Angel(4.5 This is Lysander & Bianca's story)
The Darkest Passion
The Darkest Lie
The Darkest Secret
The Darkest Surrender

As for the Richelle Mead Georgina Kincaid books, they are not YA!!! They are really great books and I highly recommend them. I also loved the Mortal Instruments series, and Richelle's series the Vampire Academy is fantastic.

There really is nothing like the Black Dagger Brotherhood books and if you haven't read them, you must!!!

I read the book Shiver and loved it, the 2nd book Linger will be out soon and I can't wait!

If anyone is interested in what I have read and what's on my to reads list, my name on goodreads.com is also desnik.

As for the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I think I am going to give it a try. It has gotten so many great reviews so hopefully it lives up to it's hype. But, I have so many to read! I still haven't read The Hunger Games yet!!

Oh I just finished a good YA book called Book of Love(Knight Angels series). Not great, but entertaining enough for the plane ride to Disney!;). Actually it was pretty good, but I liked the secondary characters better than the main characters.

Also don't forget Richelle Mead has another series called The Dark Swan Series, and it is also GREAT!!!

I swear I could go on and on.....The Darkest Powers Trilogy was a great YA series, by Kelly Armstrong.
