The Adventurosity Club

Hey guys!! I'm back and soooooo tired. What a busy week!! I'm definitely making a list of things to do differently next time. We had 10 people in our group the first few days, and it was soooo difficult trying to coordinate everyone's agenda and still get to see each other.

And we will NEVER do the Deluxe DDP again. We ended up cancelling a bunch of our reservations and just doing counter service instead.

But don't think that I'm complaining!! We had a FANTASMIC time!!! I can't wait to tell you guys all about it!!

So glad you had a FANTASMIC time!!! I cannot imagine how challenging that must have been with 10 people.....

I thought about your Deluxe Plan before you left as well. Last December we did the regular plan and I am an EATER from way back....and it was too much then! Just the burden of reservations that many times must have been a lot - having to be somewhere specific at a certain time.

Can't wait to hear about all the fun and the rides and attractions and the FOOD too! popcorn::

KK, I wondered about the Deluxe DP. I personally could do Crystal Palace for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner without a problem, but then squeezing a counter service meal in there too would be tough. That said, I really did think that it would be fun if your funds would allow it. I suppose that I could probably stay 8 days, pick all of the restaurants I love, and still do it for under $70.00/day but I think it would be tight. One other fun thing that I heard about the Deluxe DP is that if you are going during free dining you can just pay the difference and get the Deluxe plan. Now that's something I could really get into. I wouldn't feel bad not using all of my TS credits if I was only paying $39.00/day.

Thanks for the advice on that one. I'm sure there were many happy people who were glad to get your cancelled ressies at the last minute. We're still desperately trying to get into Chef M's on the 13th, 16th or 17th of December. No luck at all. Hopefully someone will cancel or the wish fairy will wave her wand and we'll magically have a slot come available. I haven't done a trip without dinner at Chef M's for probably 6 years. It's a long standing tradition. Guess that's what we get for changing our January ressies to December in order to get free dining.

Glad you had a great time. Can't wait to hear the details!

Suz

Suz, I HOPE you get your Chef Mickey's!!! That is probably my favorite place to have dinner. It was perfect with all the characters and I had a Caesar Salad (I know -- salad??) that rocked my world! My son found out he actually liked salmon there. Maybe I am too simple, but I thought the food (being a buffet) was wonderful!

When we arrive the day after Christmas, that is the first reservation I have. I thought it would be the best way to start our vacation -- especially after driving for at least 9 hours.

Good luck and wishes for you to get to Chef Mickey's pixiedust:

Glad you are back - and that you had a great time!

I so sympathize with your issues, tho. Getting 2 people to agree on "what to do next" can be problematic...let alone 10!

And I'm one of the few that have mixed feelings about any of the dining plans. Don't get me wrong - I was able to do the FREE dining plan one September, and really enjoyed it. But it makes for a different trip...everything has to be planned around where your ADRs are, and you lose so much spontaneity.

I guess I've been lucky enough to go so often, that I am now able to say "hey, let's just sit on this bench awhile, and watch everyone go by." My Mom taught me this "touring plan," including missing certain things in exchange for stopping to literally smell flowers! Love those Epcot roses! Having so many meals scheduled can make you hurry from place to place. So the Deluxe Dining plan must just make that doubly hard.

Sorry it caused some stress - but glad you didn't let it mess up your trip! Can't wait to hear details!

It's my favorite live-action Disney movie, too! A close second is Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I don't think that was one of the more popular ones (DH had never heard of it until I was excited about it being on TV a couple of months ago). I used to try to make my bed fly when I went to sleep, but I didn't have the magical knob to make it work! :wizard:

I have always wanted a huge bedroom.
I want to have a bed attached to very large chains then achored to the joists so that my bed can swing.
I know this is really old but am a new poster here.
I am trying to catch up.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to Katherine -- the "gal" of "3guys and a"!!!!!

Great to 'meet' you!!!! And all thanks to your wonderful husband, I will get to meet you in person at the Toy Story Mania event!

My husband won't be there as in the excitement, I never waitlisted him......oops!

Anyway, I am soooooooooooo envious of you that you and your husband BOTH share the same love of Disney! Cat was kind enough to point out that I have a "mixed marriage" one Disney lover and one not as fanatical about it...I laughed so hard when she wrote that to me!

So where has the hubby been? He hasn't written about his confirmation yet.....you are going, right??

Ann (a certifiable - literally - Disney fan)

O.K so hear goes.
DH is away til next Tuesday.
When he comes home at night there is no more computer time for me.
This week is like heaven.
I can be on as long as I want.:surfweb: New to the computer.
If you want to know about DH trip you will have to ask him.
I was away with him from Sunday til Wednesday.
Will be leaving again on Sunday and returning Tuesday as well.
Have questions and thought maybe you guys could help me.
How do I put in a pic under my dis name?
How do I get a ticker?
Also we are flying in on the 11th of Dec. and will be there till the 19th.
Looking forward to meeting as many of you that we can.
Have to go out for 2 hours will be back.

Katherine

Welcome back, KigerKat!!!! Rest up, do a little laundry and then tell us all about your trip. :goodvibes
I always end up canceling at least a few dinner reservations on each of my trips. As much as I try to coordinate and make things have a nice flow when I'm planning, it's always different once I'm there. There are also so many places I want to eat that I plan for more big meals than I can really handle once I start eating them!

:welcome: :welcome:

Hey Katherine!! It will be great to meet you in December.

I got my ticker at Tickerfactory.com. Go to the web site, and on the front page you will see that you have choices of categories. Click on vacation and travel and then have fun picking out your ticker items. There are Disney themed ones at magicalkingdoms.com. Look on the right hand side of the home page under Community and click on Countdown Tickers.

The DIS has a nice selection of avatars (the picture under your name). To use one of their available avatars, click on User CP (in the upper left hand corner of the bar across the top of this page or on any discussion board page) and then click Edit Avatar in the left hand column of choices. You can also place items in your signature by clicking Edit Signature. For my custom avatar I loaded the picture into my Photobucket account and then transferred the image from there into the avatar spot by using the custom avatar choice.

PM me if you have any questions!

For us, we mostly canceled breakfast!! DH and I are not morning people at all!! I don't know what I was thinking when I made all of those breakfast ressies!! The only ones we actually kept (for breakfast, at least) were Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare.

And if I had known about all the food booths during the Food and Wine Festival (duh, Carrie - FOOD and Wine...), then we just would have used our snack credits for dinner while we walked around the world.

Oh, the trials of a first timer....

Hey there!!

Welcome!! Glad to see you can keep yourself busy while 3G is out of town!!

Hey Carrie!!

Welcome Back! You know I can't wait to read your report!

I'm actually glad you canceled ressies -- I was worried that with the deluxe plan all you'd be doing is eating (or waiting to eat) but the thought of using your TS credits for the nice 2TS restaurants sounds great! I'd love to eat at just those for one trip!

Soooo sorry about the keeping 10 folks together -- it just can't be done and keep everyone happy.

I'm not saying this relates to you, but so many people underestimate a Disneyworld vacation. It is huge! You will not see it all! You will be tired if you try to. And of course, keeping a group together and happy just can't be done. I think you can do like 1-3 things together each day but after that, Suzie wants to ride RnR, Tom wants to ride the train, Mom wants to see a show and ... well, you get the idea...and that's just one family! :rotfl2:

We just got back from Great Wolf Lodge tonight. I will provide more updates and pics later, since some of you were interested.

Very similar in feel (not in execution though) to Disney. Food was bad. Room was better than a regular room at Disney. The wristband that also doubles as your room key and card for charging was a TERRIFIC invention and something Disney definitely needs to do.

My overall opinion: We will definitely be back!!

Well I know i'm new but I still can't figure out how to get a ticker.
HELP!!

I'm so glad you had a good time! It's too bad about the food. It's a reminder that the outstanding dining experiences Disney offers are some of the things that totally sets them apart. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures and hearing more about it!

Hey! Glad you made it over here! I was hoping you'd show up. :yay:

Circusgirl did a great job of answering your questions.

I just wanted to add that if you ever have the desire to have a cat-o-tar, just let me know! I haven't done one in months, but I bet I still could draw one for you!

Welcome once again!:welcome:

Well I know i'm new but I still can't figure out how to get a ticker.
HELP!!

There are lots of options - Circusgirl mentioned a couple.

Here's where I got mine: http://www.magicalkingdoms.com/timers/

It tells you step by step how to get your ticker. Once it's finished, you will copy the url they give you and put it in your signature. (Go to UserCP, edit signature, paste in the url)

:woohoo:
I have everything done.
Thanks circusgirl & catotigger.
You were both a big help.
I'll get the hang of this computer yet.
I'll be a pro by the time 3guysandagal gets home.:cheer2:
Which will be a good thing, since he will be taking over when he is home
in the evenings.
