The Adventurosity Club

We don't have passes to KD, but we used to call in favors from our old department heads and get some comps. However, I don't think they're still there. If you guys go one day then let us know though and we'll see if we can go too. We'll actually be in Richmond this weekend Friday night - Sunday for a soccer tournament. Not enough time to throw in a KD trip though. :guilty:

Busch Gardens has always done the Hallowscream and ghouls did walk up to and behind you. They stopped a year or two ago because it was too scary for some. I'm not really sure how KD does it. I actually just heard recently that they do a Halloween event. Now I'm just waiting for them to do a Winterfest like their sister park King's Island in Cincinnati. That would be awesome!

Eric says hello! :flower3:

I made reservations and we will be arriving late on Friday the 17th and doing the park on the 18th. I checked to see if KD had a discounted bring-a-friend....no luck.

Carowinds had the Winterfest but it was sooooooooooooo expensive and was not included with your passes. I don't think they do it anymore.

If I go on the Drop Tower (my son and I always go on and when we are at the top and ready to drop 272 FEET :scared1: we regret our choice -- then after we drop -- we go again)....anyway, when we are on the Drop Tower, we will wave really hard and maybe you and the family will see us from your house!

Funny, I have been thinking about you and Eric and wondering if I could enter another contest and go through all those emotions again....but then I am reminded that I would never have found all of you! :grouphug:

:jumping1:Ann (Disney Fan) :jumping1:

Oh, Bobbie will have so much fun whenever you go. I, too, was thinking about the free dining in Nov and a quick getaway trip before baby arrives. That would be great. However, it wasn't meant to be...sadly, my DH was given his 2 week notice at work ... so until we know what's happening with his job, WDW will have to wait...this economy sucks!

Marshay - I'm so sorry to hear the news about your DH's job. This economy is sucking for a lot of people. I'm just glad that I have at least 25 - 30 more years until I can retire. My 401(k) has lost close to 35% so far this year.

On a more pleasant note, your ADRs sound great! We did all of them except Pooh and Japan. Don't forget to ask for ketchup at WC and get the Chocolate Moose at Le Cellier!

I would recomend WC as well. We went there and the food and atmosphere were both great. Yes, make sure you ask for KETCHUP! :goodvibes

I went in this morning for my cervical exam (everything good!) and asked if they can see sex of baby (I'm 15 wks, 3 days) and they could!!

Here is what we saw!

:cheer2: :cheer2: CONGRATS MARSHAY AND FAMILY ON THE LITTLE PRINCESS!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

thanks MadBrad! Have you started your TR yet?? I need to check out your siggie.

Yeah, we met with our financial advisor yesterday and it wasn't a pretty picture. Down 26%. Our guy said generally the overall market is down 27% so we shouldn't be alarmed...(easier said than done).

Ann -- going for end of this year and next is super cool!!! I wish we could do the birthday thing b/c DD and I were both born on the same day so that would be great to have the $75 (?) gift certificate option for each of us. I normally spend that much at World of Disney anyway!

Just found out my DD has strep throat. Poor kid. She's finally napping after a difficult day.

DH had one interview today and they already said they want him. Just waiting for the offer. Location is really sucky though...He has 2 more interviews next week so hopefully they will come through too. Would be nice to have options.

So who goes to Disney next -- Circusgirl?

Glad to see things are looking up! I hope he finds a great position soon (and one that's closer to home!)

I'm also going soon - 3 weeks from today!!

Marshay, bad and good news about your DH's job. I'm with ya, this economy is stinky. I still am optimistic however. I've been doing a bit of reading about things and the DOW was down to 7,200-ish in 2002 (due to September 11th) and in 6 years came up to 14,000-ish. We're trying not to panic and just sit back as things will come up eventually. It really does help me to make that comparison. It was at 11,000-ish before it dropped to the 7,200. I know that this is a bigger drop, but I really do think it will bounce back.

On another note (but due to the economy) we've changed our trip to December to take advantage of free dining. Our ADR's aren't as great and we're staying 2 less days at WDW but still doing the cruise. The free dining and cutting off 2 days is saving us over $1000 (the airfare is cheaper too).

Ann, sadly that means that we won't get to see you! :sad1: What a sweet offer to have me come with you on your fast pass day. I'm so excited that you'll get to take advantage of that. I LOVE that Disney is offering the gift card. What a GREAT trade! I'm betting that they'll give out way more gift cards than they will tickets. They would be smarter to give $75.00 off the multi-day tickets. Merchandise costs Disney, park admission doesn't.

I'm still lurking here. My in-laws were here for the weekend so I don't get on the computer as much. Last week I was still frantically trying to get things in some order so that they had a place to sleep when they came here.

Hi Marshay!!
I see your light on.
You there??

Seem to get on real spotty lately.
Fall seems to be busier than summer for us, trying to get so much done before the snow flies.
I KNOW, I KNOW....a 4 letter word, but I think it will pass the filters.
Hope to get caught up and type a few posts soon.
The economy is having its effect here as well, although not as bad as the US.
Luckily we have nothing in the markets!
We are still researching DVC and watching prices diligently to see what will happen with them.
The money has been ready to go for a while, but am unsure of what to do, and now we're waiting patiently.

Hope everything works out for everyone.

I am both bummed AND envious! I was so looking forward to getting together with you. So I am bummed.
BUT a free meal plan -- that is a no brainer! And Pop will be cheaper as well.
It is such a hard decision for me financially and all to be going the peakest of peak seasons -- when if I went a mere week or so before, I could enjoy free meals and lower crowds and way lower hotel costs.
My son just really is apprehensive about missing that much school again this year.
So happy for you though that it is all working out for you still! So if anyone else going then......we will have a birthday fast pass on the 2nd and are willing to share the fun!

No TR yet. I hove lots of pics and stories to share with everyone so I guess I better get going with it before I forgot most of the details. :rotfl:

I'm not so sure about the whole "What will you Celebrate?" promotion. I have a fealing this one won't be as popular as the YOMD. We don't plan our vacations around our birthdays or aniversary. We plan our trips to WDW when we can get the best deal. I'm just curious as to what they're going to do with the suite in the castle.

I hope your DD gets better soon. My DS has stayed sick since school has started. Schools can be a terrible place for germs to spread.

I hope your DH has lots of success with finding a job.

Sorry I was on but just briefly...and then went to scrap some more pages from our WDW Sept 07 trip.

Yeah, with the bad economy, the one thing I am thankful for is that we have DVC points (could always use more though! :thumbsup2 ). At least I know we'll have our room paid for and "could" cook in the kitchen if we needed to save the $$.

I'd really like to get BLT -- the whole access to monorail and walk to MK is unbeatable...but even before DH lost his job, we looked at the numbers and said, we can't.

Now I did tell DH that if they decide to do PV (Polynesian Villas), that we are buying something -- no matter what!:lmao:

Well, I anxiously await your TR.

I agree, the YOMD is much more of an enticement for me...you know, you "could" win everyday...as opposed to just winning on one day that you may not even be in WDW. And like you said, we don't normally go on b-days -- DH's is March and that's usually spring break which we try to avoid and DD/mine is July = ditto.

I hope they at least continue the castle stays. Wouldn't that be nice? I fear if/when they open up to payment, that it just won't be as special...and people then feel like Disney owes them instead of getting a terrific opportunity...

So every Tuesday DD3 has to do a show and tell for the letter of the week. She either brings in an object or a picture to show. I think this is great -- teaches them to get up in front of the class and speak -- a wonderful skill to have.

Anyway, I thought I'd share these with you...so far we did:

Anemone
Buzz Lightyear
Cinderella
Dumbo

Anybody catch a theme here??:rotfl:

The teachers already think we are somewhere between crazy and cute...they aren't quite sure yet. But DD has been enjoying them.

AND I get to use my Disney ABC book that I made for our May trip as inspiration!

That's funny....I like the 'theme'.

Yesterday at class the students asked me if Pluto was a planet and I said it was the name of Mickey's dog. Where is my brain? :rotfl2:

Marshay - If we would have had the money, we would have bought into DVC when we were at WDW. They enticed us in by offering a $100 gift card for sitting thru their presentation. On our rest day, we had some time to kill before going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo so we took the tour. The DVC CM, Niki, was wonderful. She didn't have to do much talking because she new we had been sold on the whole DVC thing for a long time. The incentives they were offering for the AKV were almost too hard to turn down. If you bought the minimum 160 pts (@ $104/pt), they would give you a gift card equal to $8/pt to use on the down payment + an equal amount of developer pts. + no maintenance fee until May 2009. How could anyone turn that down? Well, we turned it down because even buying the minimum 160 pts was just too much for us to afford right now. We are watching several DVC resale sights and there are actually some better deals.

That's what I would think too!! (esp since Pluto is no longer a planet!!)

Yes, knowing what I do now, I'd go for DVC resale if I was buying one of the older resorts. It seems like you can get it for cheaper and depending on the contract, can even get a good use year and leftover points, too.

We bought at AKV last year. Those BLT points are so tempting. I was determined we were going to get some when they were released. I've stayed at the Contemporary once and the location is just amazing.

But those point charts, wow!! I could almost squeeze in another vacation for the extra cost to say in a Magic Kingdom view.

I look forward to hearing your trip stories and seeing your pix!
I'm going to miss YOMD too. There are SO MANY special things they do every day aside from the dramatic large things. On the other hand, I'm rarely disappointed with a new Disney experience, so we'll have something to look forward to!

Good thoughts to your DH in his job search. It's reassuring that he has an offer, and hopefully something more perfect is just in the wings.

That's funny....I like the 'theme'.

Yesterday at class the students asked me if Pluto was a planet and I said it was the name of Mickey's dog. Where is my brain? :rotfl2:

Well, since Pluto lost its high regard as a planet this year, Mickey's dog is probably the most correct answer!!

I know...even the regular nonMK 1 BR points are more expensive than say BCV or Savannah AKV...

We might just have to do BLT for a few days and then change resorts...

Also, CONGRATS!! I'm not sure if I remember that you own AKV!!! We own there too as an add-on (65pts) to our SSR.

Thank you Marshay!! We bought back in November. Hubby keeps telling me to put it in my signature, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
We haven't been able to make a trip "home" yet. We've used out points for the Grand Californian at Disneyland, three nights in Lake Tahoe, and the cruise we just went on. All great trips, but we want to stay at AKV!!! That's why we bought there!:)

Not a bad idea to split stays at BLT though.
