The Adventurosity Club

I wasn't hiding, just out of touch for a couple of days as we were in Dallas for the Eagles concert. It was an amazing 3+ hour show!

Sooooooooooo envious!!! I went to the Hell Freezes Over Tour and waited on the phone forever (6 hours) for tickets and paid over $100 each for LAWN seats! And that was 13 years ago. Loved it!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hi everybody! I'm back from 10 sweet nights and 12 glorious days at our favorite place. More to come on the trip soon, but I just had to share this one:

A blonde calls the Fire Department and says, "Come quick, come quick, my house is on fire!"
The fireman says, "Calm down, Ma'am, we'll be right over, we just need to know how to get there."
The blonde (exasperated), "Duh!!! Big red truck!!!"

Cathie - Glad your hurricane experience was not too exciting.

Madbrad - You are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!!!

WELCOME HOME CIRCUSGIRL!!!

And thanks so much for the fun words from the World!!! You made my day! :flower3: 21 times for Toy Story Mania!!! Sounds awesome!

Ann :)

p.s. kinda curious though, when I return from the most magical place on earth, I feel a little down, well, a lot down and it takes me a bit to Tigger bounce back. :sad1:
Do you ever get Disney Depression when you return?? :confused3

:lmao: Maybe you're blonde too...but I don't recall any dumb blonde jokes the refer to men. Darn it...... !
I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children.

Ok, I'm going to fess up for minute as long as you don't hold it against me...
In your post I actually sat there staring at the screen asking, "How would I know what color you hair is?" (then I noticed you wrote in yellow)

:lmao: Soooo funny Amy!! :lmao:

Ummm - I just have to have clarification! A Pooh Hater? Really? What specifically makes you hate Pooh? Does this mean you just hate Pooh, or all Hundred Acre residents?

Did you "step in" Pooh one time, and it just annoyed you so much that you now avoid Pooh at all costs? :rotfl:

Just Curious....

:rotfl2: Laughed out loud Cathie....felt like a Monty Python line :rotfl2:

I'm not sure about the Pooh thing ... instead of feeling all cuddly and soft and "old silly bear", I always just wanted to slap him. Yes. Seriously. Probably didn't help that my best in high school was obsessed with him. But the Pooh from the 70s was kinda creepy ... have you seen pics of him from back then?? Look at his red eyes -- what was he doing - mixing some rum in that hunny???

I used to get all creeped out by Mr. Roger's "Neighborhood of Make Believe" -- remember Lady Elaine Fairchild......AHHHHHH :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Awww..... Pooh. He's my favorite!
I remember listening to Pooh Bear stories on albums....yes albums...that had to played on record players. Remember those? I loved the Christopher Robin and Hundred Acre Woods friends......

I remember when I was little...and I mean about 4 I think....I was walking through Sears with my mom. We walked past a display and way up at the tip tip top was a giant Pooh Bear. I had to have it...so I turned around and climbed the display! Can you imagine? My mom didn't notice at first but I ended up getting that Pooh Bear.....in fact I still have it today! He's minus the red shirt (don't know what happened to it), his nose is all but gone, and he has a rip in his chest....his fur is matted from all the love, hugs, and tears I shed on him, but he's still with me. I'm a bit partial to Pooh....although in life I feel more like an Eeyore.

I will admit thought, that picture of Pooh that Marshay posted would have scared me....red eyes? I don't remember those, but that's scary. Glad he's more friendly looking now.

(Mrs. Fleagle, did you REALLY just post a paragraph on a "stuffed with fluff" bear? )
pooh: pooh: pooh: pooh:

Ok, here is my Pooh story.....my son, who is now 12, LOVES Pooh and still has his that he got when he was one....he crawled in a pile of Poohs at the Disney Store and picked his Pooh.

OT, I have never liked the word "booger" or any of the other variations on the theme. So when my son was very young and he had a stuffy nose...I asked him if his head was "full of fluff?" That then became, "the" term for if you had too much stuff in your nose and you needed a tissue. Until fairly recently, you could hear any one of us say, "Do you have a fluffy?" How's THAT to make your boy grow up big and strong......do you have fluffies honey?? :sad2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Yeah right! I haven't even started to pack! I think DW and kids are just about done packing though.

Yes, we leave tomorrow. Since we're staying overnight in Macon, GA, we won't actually make it to WDW until Saturday afternoon.

Have fun Brad!!! Don't know if you will sign on in Macon or not....I can only imagine how excited you all are!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Well I'm hoping for the best for those experiencing "rough" weather.

In other news... I managed to stay an extra day in Japan after my business trip and guess what I did? Go ahead and guess. That's right! I went to Disney Tokyo Sea and Disneyland! :cool1: :cheer2:

I'll try to put together an official trip report when I get back, But for now, let me say that Japan is really really really embracing this Halloween thing (I've never seen so many Alice in Wonderland related costumes!). Also, I think they should change the name to Disney WaitingInLineLand. I will never complain about crowds in CA or FL again.

Cheers everyone... or as they say in Japan "Kampai".

Hi FirstTime! :wave2: I was thinking about this board and the people who have come and gone during the CMO contest and after and you came to mind as such a genuine person.

You had already won your contest and were not even eligible for the CMO position...and you came in here and supported those of us who entered. You cheered us on and gave us a shoulder when some of us were booted far too early in the process. You gave us insight into the process in such a positive manner.
You are just a sincere hope that Disney Dreams can come true! pixiedust:

Thanks FirstTime! I really appreciate that you still hang around and share your love of all things Disney with us! :grouphug:

Hey Madbrad - if you see this - hope you have a wonderful trip!

Of course, if you don't see this, I still hope it's wonderful!

Hey Ann! Glad to see you!

I'm sitting here, trying to be excited about being at work - but so far, no luck! (shhhh - don't tell anyone I snuck on to see what's going on here).

And you are right - it's neat that FTC has stayed with us, thru thick and thin! And he's such a celebrity - the first Haunted Mansion butler with a beard! ;)

I'm really lucky this time in that I'm going back in December, so the blues aren't as much of a problem as usual. I listen to podcasts, Disney music on Mouseradio or the parade/area/celebration music on CD, read other people's trip reports, eat the last of my carefully hoarded rice krispie treats from Goofy's, and look at the picture threads. The best medicine of all is planning the next trip and hanging out with you guys!!!

*sniff* *sniff* Gosh! What a sweet thing to say. You guys are all great and I consider myself lucky to have "met" you all. :grouphug:

Hey! Speaking of Disney dreams come true... I gotta share this with you guys.

As you may recall, back when I had my Disney Dream Job experience, there were five sets of five winners. One of the categories was parade performer, where they got to participate in the High School Musical parade at DCA. Well, one of those winners, Lisa, recently got hired by Disney to be a dancer in the High School Musical 3 parade! How cool is that? Talk about turning your dream job into a reality. :cheer2:

So, next time you are at DCA, if you happen to see the HSM3 parade (I think it starts sometime in October), and you see a young lady with blond pig tails -- tell her Gordon says hi!

Hysterical! Now that's the hardest I've laughed in a while! THAT is some funny stuff.

I've been ridiculously busy this week catching up, but I will be back later this weekend with some adventures from my trip!

CircusGirl,

Thank you so much for the wonderful Disney Postcard! What a great surprise....and how fun to get that smile in my heart when I see something from Disney World in the mail. I'm like a kid at Christmas! Thanks again!
I REALLY wish I could have seen all the hundred acre woods friends in their Halloween costumes...I bet that was adorable!

Thanks for thinking of us....and thanks for sharing the details with us!

Yes!! I always wondered why they chose so an evil looking puppet!

Hi gang!
Here is the first installment of the tale of my trip. I think I'm going to start a trip report over on the trip report board as well. It's great fun to relive the trip by sharing it with you!

September 3rd-4th, 2008

After all the complications and difficulties of this year I was at a pretty low ebb by the time departure day arrived. I was incredibly excited to get away to a place where everyone would take really good care of me and I could bask and play in an extremely creative environment. The schedule had been honed and polished, my fun summer clothes were packed, and Pal Mickey had fresh batteries. I had already shipped a costume for MNSSHP to the hotel, so I was ready to join in the delights of the days ahead.

I had a long last day at work, working as emergency doctor starting at 7 am. The afternoon was a little complicated when a sudden influx of cases really challenged my timing to get everything done, handled and in the case of unfinished things, passed off to the Docs who would handle them in my absence. I was more frantic than I would have liked when I finally scrambled out of work, raced home and went through the final packing moments. I did manage to squeeze in a shower, which would help the long night and next day after the flight.

For years I have taken the redeye to Orlando from Seattle, loving gaining a day of play versus spending a day in the air. With the consolidation and reduction of everything, Alaska has canceled their direct night flight as of my next trip, so this is to be my last happy swift flight through the dark to an Orlando sunrise.

I got to the airport in time enough to poke around the shops a little bit before going to the gate. Here we are waiting around:

DSC_0003-1.jpg

They are so excited about getting on the plane!

DSC_0002.jpg

It seemed to be taking a long time, so Mickey thought he might just start the announcements a little early. "Alaska Airlines announces the boarding of Flight 10 to Orlando, beginning with Circusgirl, Mickey, Minnie and Pluto!"

DSC_0001-1.jpg

The flight didn’t look completely packed which was good for me in this moment but perhaps related to its demise . In fact I wound up with an empty middle seat next to my window. The aisle occupant was on her way to a Florida vacation with her family, with a skimpy two days allocated to WDW. I was horrified to find she didn’t know when the parks would open and close, didn’t have a plan, didn’t know that MNSSHP would close the MK at 7:00 on her MK day, and worst of all, had no ADRs. She mentioned that she had been a caterer and considered herself a foodie. I immediately started mapping out a plan, suggesting restaurants and times that might facilitate some last minute dining and suggesting that she and her family go to the Halloween Party to take advantage of the extra time and many special highlights and activities.

It was an uneventful, quiet flight (aided of course by mask, noise canceling headphones and my own comfy blanket). I must look ridiculous, but I can actually get a few hours of decent sleep if I am properly cocooned.

Sunrise over Orlando was a beautiful sight to my slightly blurry morning befuddled self, as was the announcement that it was 75 degrees at 7:30 in the morning. After a long cold rainy summer in Seattle, I couldn’t wait to be hot, hot, hot!

I hustled off the plane and to the happy train to the terminal for my first ride of the trip, and then went right to the rental car area. One of the tips I picked up from the Unofficial Guide is to go and rent your car before picking up luggage. The luggage is always super slow in Orlando, and you can rent the car and be back in time to pick up the luggage, and miss standing in line behind everyone else who got their luggage first. I actually had to wait quite a few minutes for my bags after getting to the carousel. I was restless. After all, I rent a car because I can’t bear to lose a minute waiting for a bus. C’mon, people, these are Disney minutes I’m wasting!

I wheeled my stuff outside and got my first lovely wash of tropical warm air. Over to the garage, up the elevator and over to hunt the aisles for a terrific car for the trip. I can hardly believe it when there is a Prius in my car class. Awesome! I got some instructions in how to work the Prius’s starting and stopping and then I was off to sail to the land of Mouse. I loaded some Hawaiian music in the CD player and rolled down the windows to bask in the warmth.

I made a quick traditional stop at the CVS to pick up bottled water. At $1.19 a gallon it is a big savings. I use a couple of smaller bottles I got for flight to carry in my bag, and refill from the big containers.

Then I cruised under the Welcome archway with a big smile and made the short jaunt to the Caribbean Beach. My room wasn’t ready - no surprise and not a big deal - so I took off for a quick shopping run at DTD. I had planned my first visit to Goofy’s Candy Company after seeing the pictures of the elaborate treats on the food photo threads. The DIS could also be known as The Other Shopping Channel, as it is a gateway to many essential acquisitions I would otherwise have known nothing about. On this trip alone I have Allison’s Cooling Neck Wraps (neck wraps in cute Disney fabrics that puff up to a gel cooling wonderfulness after being immersed in water), a cute Baggallini backpack, a Misty Mate Cool Blast Mister, and an adorable Mickey rain jacket that folds up in a handy travel pouch.

Goofy’s Candy Company lived up to its reputation, and the CM helping me was utterly delightful. I couldn’t believe I could just have someone make me a rice krispie treat smothered in dark chocolate, crushed peanut butter cups and more dark chocolate. I ran through the World of Disney, looking for things I might want to come back for (I get a 10% discount with my annual pass) and through Basin sniffing gorgeous bath products. Then it was time to head to the Polynesian for my breakfast at Kona Cafe.

The CM at the gate remembered me from my last trip, so I had real aloha when I arrived there. Kona featured an abundance of breakfast (The Big Kahuna and a press pot of fragrant, life giving Kona coffee were my selections) plus the bonus of being surrounded by tropical lush plant life in the atrium lobby with the soothing sound of fountains flowing in the garden. I had a great Disneyversation with two gals sitting next to me, the first of many during the trip. Here is a picture of my delectable food:

DSC_0360-2.jpg

The macadamia-pineapple pancakes with special macadamia butter were dreamy, the French Toast delectable, the eggs were perfect over easy, the potatoes slightly crisp outside and just right inside, and the bacon and sausage just plain delicious. I got a side of biscuits because I need something to eat the yolk of the eggs with and they were also lovely - hot and fluffy.

After breakfast I called the CBR and my room was ready, so it was time for another tradition - the finding of the room. I love the CBR and have stayed there for at least part of all my Disney visits for many years, but their room directional signage is not very helpful in defining the actual direct shortest way to the room from the parking lot. I have learned not to set off precariously balancing all my bags while crisscrossing the walkways looking for my destination. I brought my small suitcase and camera bag and started exploring the paths and gardens of Jamaica. My room was a water view (I got such a good AP deal I decided to go for a room that would absolutely not face the parking lot) so I knew it would be a ways in from the parking. This room was the toughest I’ve ever had to find and it took me 3 or 4 trips before I could go directly there on the shortest path. I got my stuff hauled in and started to unpack.

The location was terrific, right next to the bridge to Old Port Royale, and with a view of the island, lake and new pool complex.

DSC_0333.jpg

A blissful post all night flight shower was next, and then I was clean, upacked and ready. I needed to do my final out of Disney errand (that would be OODE in DIS- speak) to pick up groceries. My list mostly consisted of half and half for coffee and fruit for breakfasts, and I ended up getting some ziplocs and small containers as well as a veggie peeler for my peaches and nectarines. As of my last trip I bring my own kettle, filters, filter cone and dark dreamy delicious Peet’s French Roast coffee to give my mornings the start they deserve.

After getting back to the room with my grocery booty I decided to walk to Old Port Royale, check out the progress on the pool and just enjoy the lilting Caribbean music and beautiful sun. There were tropical colors bright in the perfect sunlight, lush gardens with little rushing lizards, turtles swimming through the water and elegant white birds stalking deliberately at the water’s edge. The pool complex looked really close to done, and I will wonder every day if it will open while I’m still there.

Oh, Bobbie will have so much fun whenever you go. I, too, was thinking about the free dining in Nov and a quick getaway trip before baby arrives. That would be great. However, it wasn't meant to be...sadly, my DH was given his 2 week notice at work ... so until we know what's happening with his job, WDW will have to wait...this economy sucks!

On a more pleasant note, your ADRs sound great! We did all of them except Pooh and Japan. Don't forget to ask for ketchup at WC and get the Chocolate Moose at Le Cellier!
