So, as I'm working on posts for the CMO website, emails, new threads here, and other various forms of communication . . . here are a couple of teaser tidbits from my recent trip . . .

1) Disney's Hollywood Studios at 5:00 in the morning (two days in a row!)

2) Taking two familys on to Toy Story Mania along with members of the Disney/CMO team and Homer from the Dream Squad . . . and we were the only people in there.

3) Visiting "Dream Central" - the backstage home of the Dream Squad at Epcot.

4) Eating a Mickey's Premium bar in the back stage home of the Magic Kingdom Dream Squad with at least 20 or 30 members of the squad.

5) The Utilidors

6) The control towers for Expedition Everest and Dinosaur.

:)

Wow!!!!

I love this thread! all the pictures are adorable and everyone sounds so nice! (im new to this site as you can tell)

Welcome, monetmelly! Please hang around and get acquainted!

Well hello! Things just got a bit slow here lately as a few of us are away on business trips, family trips or WDW!!

If you want, tell us about yourself.

On another note, I'm going home to PA for an unexpected family trip. I was supposed to go home in June but now that we are scheduling some IVF appointments in June, I can't go then.

So my DD and I will go home to PA (Reading area) for the long weekend and we'll go to Hershey Park, hopefully on Monday! I'll take pics to post on our We Be Trippin' Thread since it seems the bus got delayed going to Texas...maybe a quick trip up to Hershey, PA will move things along! Or if that doesn't work out then I'll just post here.

Marshay - We'll all be rooting for your IVF! :flower3:
Hershey Park was one of my favorites when I was growing up. My Aunt lives in PA, so Dorney Park and Hershey Park (and Dutch Wonderland - am I aging myself incredibly here?) were some of the wonder places of my childhood.

Ultimate cool, Justin! I bet you were on :cloud9:.

So I haven't been to Sesame Place yet...how does it compare to other parks? What ages are appropriate? And how long did it take you to get there?

Are there "busses" of folks that go there or is it more like a mom and pop park?

Thanks for the info!

Marshay! ‘Sorry for the delay in my response.

To answer your questions:

Sesame Place is a cute, little park. It’s fairly small and tucked behind a shopping mall, but don’t let that scare you. It’s an Anheuser-Busch owned and operated company – the same folks behind the Sea World and Busch Gardens theme parks. I find that the company does a good job of landscaping and maintaining its properties. (I’ve always thought that Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a visually stunning experience, anyway…)

And, just for fun: Little Man Poses with Cookie Monster.

(That last picture is one of my favorite photos from the DISgeeks family’s visit to Sesame Place last Fall. I even enclosed it in DS2’s birthday invitations.)

Although I haven’t visited Sea World in decades, based on photos and ride descriptions from the Park’s web site, I’m convinced that a lot of the rides in the kiddie section are merely re-purposed versions of Sesame Place rides. (My family has planned a visit to Sea World this summer – “blasphemy,” I know! -- so I can confirm afterwards…)

The Sesame Place web site identifies two to seven-year-olds as its ideal audience. (“Sesame Place is ideal for children ages 2 – 7. However the park offers fun family entertainment and attractions that appeal to all ages.”)

The most logical demographic would be toddlers and preschoolers, who love the Sesame Street characters. (This is evident in the Park’s admission prices. Anyone older than two pays the same entry fee! Plus, Sesame Place hours are shorter than most amusement parks', since – no doubt – its prime audience has an earlier bedtime.) That said, I’ve seen older kids happily partaking in the Park’s attractions. It’s half water park, and there are some fast-paced slides! Also, rides such as VaporTrail (a small steel roller coaster), Grover’s World Twirl (spinning teacups), Blast Off (a kid-friendly version of a free-fall ride) have a broad appeal, along with Nets ‘n’ Climbs, an overhead maze of suspended net tunnels. I might add, there also are character appearances, live shows and a cute mid-afternoon parade.

Click here for a full list of Park attractions.

We’ve never been overwhelmed by crowds. Then again, we tend to visit during the slower months (Spring, early Summer and Fall). ‘Might want to avoid the busier, hotter Summer months…

Overall, we have been pleased with our experiences at Sesame Place. Of course, we’re whimsical theme park people, so you might want to take that into consideration… :upsidedow

(One word of warning: We’ve noticed mostly high school-aged employees in the Park. Again, we’ve had mostly positive experiences, so this truly hasn’t been an issue. I just find it interesting…)

“Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?”
Finally, it takes us about 3 ½ hours to get to Sesame Place.

I hope this helps! (Please don't hesitate to ask further questions! :) )

Ha! I love the pictures of 'petite pluto'!

Thanks, Justin! :goodvibes

However, I have to admit that your comments on the lovely weather in Pennsyvania are just another reminder of why I did NOT want to come back from my trip!

:sad2: (Yeah, returning home from the World is never my idea of a good time...)

'Ya know: The rain actually provided us with a pretty cool experience, because I was able to film some unique video footage (of a lonely Cookie Monster peeking out of his photo-op spot into the rain, for example). Actually, the humor behind folks riding the "Sunny Day Carousel" during a complete deluge makes me giggle, too!

Rainstorms have a way of clearing out theme parks, so the lines were nonexistent, which was terrific (for the few rides that remained open, at least... ). And, Sesame Place compensated for the canceled afternoon parade by trotting out about eight of its characters (at once!) to pose for photos and interact with kids in a dry place! Waaaaay cool, and not the normal procedure! :thumbsup2

Now, if this had been my first visit to the Park, I would have been very disappointed and a bit ticked at our bad timing. Instead, I viewed it as a unique change of pace! ::yes::

Hey guys!! What a weekend!! I went to a Braves game with a group of people from work Friday.

When we last left off...

You mentioned earlier that they made you the designated driver (of a huge, unwieldy van), since you aren't a heavy drinker. So, I have to ask... 'Any crazy inebriated co-worker stories to share? I figure that -- if they set themselves up for potential humiliation in front of their colleagues -- then talking about them afterwards is fair game... :teeth:

Ew! (Once again, I've probably crossed the line with my overdeveloped curiosity. 'Sorry if I offended anyone... :flower3: )

Meanwhile, I think I'll cut-and-paste my recent Sesame Place-related posts into the "We Be Trippin' Thread"... :thumbsup2 (Maybe a few of us decided to hop on the DIS-nee Family's handy helicopter for a quick side-trip to Pennsylvania!! ;) )

Oh, yeah...The only place I'll be driving those people to in the future is an "AA" meeting!! :rotfl2:

When I walked on the bus, there was already about 2 cases of beer open (I'm not sure how legal that is...:confused3 ) and they were already a little tipsy. Once we got to the game, a few guys from our group stopped at the Chophouse and we didn't see them again until it was time to leave. Then we decided to leave early because the Braves weren't playing so well (until the home run as we were walking out - go figure!), and it was incredibly windy and cold.

On our way back, some people begged me to stop at a gas station to use the restroom, and one guy couldn't even make it into the building - he just dropped to his knees in front of a tree and relieved himself right there.

Then there's the fact that a few people at work get very chatty when they drink. I don't think they quite remember what all they told me, but I'm in the know of some good company secrets now!! ;)

All in all...I felt like an adult babysitter that night. It's not something I would EVER want to do again. I'm just glad we were able to get through rush hour traffic on the way down there without an accident. Thank goodness we left early and didn't have to navigate all the post game traffic - I'm really not comfortable diving big vehicles!!

Here's an online album of some of the pictures I took. (I had to delete some due to unauthorized content :lmao: )

Aside from being at HS at 5AM, all of this sounds like such fun!! I can't wait to read about it!!

Oh, yeah we grew up on HP and Dorney and recently have also been going to Knoebels. Have you been there? It's a quaint park in the mountain/coal country part of PA.

KigerKat -- wow, sounds like you can use your newly acquired work knowledge to get that promotion you want!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hmmmm.... Well, at least we should commend them for not trying to drive themselves home!! ::yes::

Oh, and that oversized van would have intimidated me, too. (In fact, an inebriated person might well do better than sober 'ol me behind the wheel of one of those things! Curb check, anyone??)

Hey everyone.... just wanted to drop a quick note to say "Hello"!!! Mickey and the gang say "Hi" to everyone also! It is HOT down here.... today it was like 91 and tomorrow is supposed to be 94, yikes! But thankfully there is a nice breeze every day.... the internet is spotty so I can't go back and check all that I've missed.... but I wanted to pop in and say that we are having a great time.

Yeah! Another live report from Disney!!

I forget who said it first but it is soooo cool to have this family of Disney loving folks who take us on their vacation with us!! Even though I left, I feel like a part of me is always there through people's updates on the DIS.

Yeah -- Justin!! Thanks for the update and no need to say you're sorry -- we are all busy and it's been a bit quiet around here.

I agree it will be nice if we can keep our family thread going so we are free to talk about any topic, but also think we need to instill some new life in our Disney Dreams.

I will be thinking about spreading the magic and sending ideas to you. As for thread on the DIS, basically, you just need to go to each section of the DIS and think of topic-related posts to add like for the Family section (How do you continue the Disney dream when you are home? What do you do as a family in the park to help make your Disney dream?) or for the Budget (Low-cost Disney dreams) or for the Trip Report section (my year as a Disney CMO), etc.

Just cut and paste the web address back to this thread and we'll come on over and chat there on the specific topic, too!

good call Marshay!

I love this thread! all the pictures are adorable and everyone sounds so nice! (im new to this site as you can tell)

:welcome: Everyone IS as nice as they sound ::yes::

I meant to respond to this and forgot...I love getting in the garden and planting but of course I hate the digging part since our soil is basically rocks and clay -- great combination!

I hope you find a buyer for your house soon.

When I talked to my real estate agent last, she said that Open Houses really don't do anything like they used to. Everyone has access to your house on the website (pics, descriptions, etc) so they usually just book an appt with their real estate agent to see it, if they like it. Open Houses are now just a chance for your nosy neighbors to see your house! :rotfl: And yes, I am completely guilty of doing this!

that sounds about right
