The Adventurosity Club

Hey Circusgirl!

I wanted to stop in and say hello and give a really quick update to my TR.

Tomorrow we get our Photos taken at the Polynesian (Photopass) and I can't wait!! We did the GF in Sept and I so want the Poly!!

Any time you like! But the house is a wreck! As long as you don't mind stepping over the Buzz Lightyear "Pyeww Pyeww" gun, some Wii controllers, a potty chair, my daughter's pointe shoes, some books, cars, shoes, and a microphone then come on over! :)
Did you really need to tell them about my potty chair? I'm so embarassed.

I'll look forward to seeing the photos! I love, love, love the Polynesian. Hope you have perfect weather!

Awwww...I missed Marshay!

If you check in again - I hope you are having a great time!!

Geez...where is everyone today? Hello??? Hello???

Sorry guys..... We are really at a crazy time at my work. Next week we have awards week and parent's visitation.. so I'm going nuts printing certificates, getting trophies ready, recital info packets prepared, etc... Picture Day is next Saturday so there's another fiasco that I have to prepare for.
Plus we'll be out of town Saturday for soccer so I'm running short on time.

I'm checking in though... I haven't forgotten everybody. ;)

If I were there I'd come by with a thermos of Vanilla Coffee for you!

Good morning everyone! I've been pondering the lack of activity on our thread and I really think it's mostly because this is the busiest time of year for many people. Lots of "end of the year" type things. I'm on our local school board and so I have tons of things that I need to attend. Also for us, we're really working on getting our house ready to list. I'm a terrible "collector" (I HATE the term pack rat, BLECH!) and I'm madly freecycling, goodwilling, and pricing for the yard sale of the century, plus running my business and don't forget, being a mom! I don't think that my schedule is any more crazy than lots of others here so I'm guessing that is what is going on with many of us.

I also think that our thread was started for a specific purpose and now that purpose has shifted. We've now got two threads going, one is specific and this one is more for "conversation" and sharing of personal things. I think that if we come up with a way to get a little focus that might jump start us. I'm creative in some ways, but not in that way, however I did think of an idea that would keep an ongoing conversation with more people likely to respond. We could come up with a list of topics and instead of addressing them all at once we could work our way through them (much like we're working our way around the country in the VRT). Here are some ideas that I have:

1. Sharing our favorite Disney dream (realistic one AND not so realistic)
2. Sharing our favorite Disney experience or memory
3. Sharing our favorite Disney hidden gem
4. Sharing our favorite Disney restaurant
5. Sharing our favorite Disney money saving tip (I lurk on the Budget board *see below)

If everyone adds to the list we'll have lots to talk about over the next little while. We could have one person in charge of posting the question of the week (or every couple of days-when the topic seems to be exhausted). I would be happy to do that, but I can't take charge until after our house is listed and ready to sell. If someone would do it in the meantime I could take over at the beginning of June. Perhaps KigerKat could add to her first post on this thread by listing our questions.

Even if we don't do that idea, I think we have a great core group of people who visit regularly but might not have time to post something. Perhaps if we encourage people to check in regularly with a teeny little post (even if they just say, hi!). That will keep our thread near the top through this less active time and also help keep track of everyone. When we don't have an active conversation going on people are less likely to post something.

Okay, long dissertation and I'm done now. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

*Speaking of the budget board, here's a funny CMO story that I've never told any of you. Back at the very beginning of the CMO contest I posted on the budget board that my good friend had made the top 20. It was on the day that the first calls were made, long before our CMO thread was started. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1713311 Nobody responded! No posts at all. First, I felt like such a dope and embarassed, then I felt grumpy that no one was excited about it. I was so relieved to find "our" thread even though we came in late with most of the top 20 already revealed. I so remember the excitement of that time! Now I hardly ever check on the budget board. Great ideas for real life, but I feel such a sense of community on our thread.

Hey Suz! Great idea. I was getting a little worried about the thread slowing down. I miss waking up and having to catch up on 5 or 6 pages while I was sleeping.

I don't mind adding the "Topic of the Week" to the first post at all!

Sorry no one replied to your post about the CMO contest! I hang out over on the budget board as well, but I didn't come over here until about mid March. But I would have replied!!

On a side note...I thought it would be fun to do a trip report since this is my first trip to Disney World. Any suggestions for a title? I'll be working on it this weekend, and then I'll give you guys the link once I've got it started.

I think it's a great idea! (And, I apologize for my silence most of this week. I'm mostly playing catch-up around the house, plus I need to read for a book club meeting. In fact, I'm sooo behind on the "We Be Trippin'" thread, I'm almost afraid to get started, 'cuz I know it will suck me in for an extended period of time.... Hopefully, I can carve away a little chunk of time this weekend to read and post.) HA! That almost sounded like "confession...." ;)

Anyway, I agree that this is a busy season. (If you recall, the first of our threads was introduced during the looooong winter months, when everyone was hunkered down indoors!) I'm sure there are plenty of people who still are lurking, just unable to post.

This should be pretty short and simple, since I've really (well, sort of) haven't been to Disney World! I have only been to MGM (I know, now Hollywood Studios) about 2 1/2 years ago with my then boyfriend, now husband. :lovestruc

1. Sharing our favorite Disney dream (realistic one AND not so realistic): Realistic one will be to take my future children to Disney World and watch their eyes light up when they see their *hopefully* favorite characters in real life. Not so realistic is to be Mary Poppins for a day and sing "Spoonful of Sugar". I can't sing to save my life and I'm definitely not "Practically Perfect in Every Way!"
2. Sharing our favorite Disney experience or memory: Not being told about the 1200 times ToT would bounce up and down.
3. Sharing our favorite Disney hidden gem: I don't have any! Well, not yet anyway... :)
4. Sharing our favorite Disney restaurant: We at at Hollywood and Vine on our one day trip. It was pretty good! We're signed up on the deluxe dining plan this year, so I'm excited about getting to try out a bunch of great restaurants!
5. Sharing our favorite Disney money saving tip: Going for one day a couple of years ago didn't allow us for much money saving! But reading through the budget board, I like the idea of brining our own bottled water to the parks and then asking for a free cup of ice from the counter service restaurants.

How about: "KigerKat takes on the World"?

I love the idea also SuzD..... should we answer the first few questions that were thrown out there as a start? And then come up with some topics for the future?

Yes! I like this idea Suz!

Like most of you I am extremely busy...(in truth I always am) but the threads are my mindless fun and my distraction from all the normal life stuff. It was fun waking up and catching up on the night crew's posts and seeing what I missed. During the day I'd be logged and while I worked in the office or cleaned or whatever then I'd quickly refresh the page to see what I missed. Anyway....I think your idea is great Suz. And by the way, making the recipe tonight even if I have to sit all by myself and eat it! I've been drooling over it all week!

Yes, let us know your preferred format and then we'll start answering!
