The Adventurosity Club

wow!

first let me say thanks so much for informing us about mousefest! I was actually thinking that might be a good time to go this year for my first time.

Congrats and good deal on the babysitter! Sounds like a great thing! Have you worked out/thought about her hours -- every day, all day, part days, evenings? Just curious how you all decide to do it...I think that might be a great thing for us to do in the future.

Wow, has it been quiet around here or what! I hope everyone is doing GREAT! I noticed that some are still keeping up with the Adventurosity Club, but I think most have migrated over to Facebook. Speaking of which, has anyone heard from Cat, Missy (Tooth), HMF, Heather (Circusgirl), Lori (DISGeeksfromDC), Calliaz, or AnnDisneyFan. I guess with the economy, WDW is not on our minds much. I sure know I have my fair share of down days. I haven't posted anything in about 2 months myself.

Since nobody, including myself, has posted much lately, I figured I would make several short posts instead of one long one. Hang on!

Tomorrow is our 30 day countdown until Baby is born (unless she decides to come early). We finally have made a lot of progress (bought car seat, got new rug installed, bought some cute things for the room, etc.) Of course I'll post a pic once it's all done. We decided to do a jungle theme.

Meantime, here is the 30 day countdown calendar I made for DD3.

JPEG003-2.jpg

Then each day we will add a new piece of the train to the calendar. DD3 and I had fun decorating the different pieces.

Here is a sample of what some of the days will look like

JPEG002-2.jpg

And here is the completed calendar --what it will look like on March 15th!

So as you can see we were going with the name Elizabeth (and either Leigh or Jasmine for a middle name) ... but then just today, DH told me he likes Jasmine Elizabeth better.

So who knows?

Let me just say how excited I am for you and your family. That precious baby will be here before you know it. It's good to see your daughter is handling things well. When we had our son, our daughter was almost 5. She handled it OK considering the age difference. Now they get along just like any brother and sister would! The idea of getting your daughter involved is a great idea.

Just what kind of jungle themed room are you planning? For some reason I thought you might have a princess themed room instead. princess:

Hey everybody!

I had a very fine trip to Disneyland despite it being cold and rainy most of the time. Had a fantastic afternoon and evening with Wendy (CalDisneyFamily) and her ultra cool son Kenton. I've been working super long hours this month so haven't had much time to post. I'll get some pictures up later!

It is really disappointing about MouseFest, but I suspect people will make their own informal meets and events. I can't wait to hear more about the DIS event. The TSM party was a complete highlight of the year and one of my coolest Disney experiences ever, so am excited there will be something else to look forward to. I plan on going in December if I can and would certainly slant my dates around something special like that.

Best thoughts to you Marshay on your happy countdown! Of course the calendar is the cutest thing ever.

Amy - Your birthday surprise could not be topped!!!! What a loving, thoughtful and incredible gift. Thanks for showing us how it all turned out.

I have lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks!:yay:

When I was told at my physical for some life insurance that I weighed 202 lbs, I about freaked! :headache: I have never, ever weighed over 200 lbs, not to mention the fact that I was having a hard time squeezing in any of pants. It was then that I decided that I must do something. Thus, I joined the YMCA about 3 weeks ago and I've been going at least 5 days a week since then. I plan on loosing at least another 15 - 20 lbs.

Ah, Facebook...I'm probably the last person on earth who hasn't joined yet...I'm just afraid of adding 'one more thing' to my life.

I'm actually on DIS every 2-3 days...just like to check in on what's happening around the boards ... and looking for a super good deal for Sept-December...

Yeah, I'm very curious to see how DD will handle the new baby. Her grandparents gave her $10 for Valentines gift and she said she wanted to buy something for baby with that money! I was rather impressed.

So we found a pair of slippers at Wal-Mart for $2.50 that she needed and a lion stuffed animal that plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for baby...and she still had $1.12 left over to put in her bank.

Theme: we kept trying to decide what we wanted to do. I wanted to do a castle theme but not a princess theme (I know, a little weird) but all I could find was either Medieval or the Disney Princesses. So then we were going to do Ariel ....but I kept getting drawn back to the jungle theme...so that's what we did.

The room isn't totally finished but here's a sneak peak. This is 1/2 of the wallpaper border. There is also a giraffe and lion.

JPEG005-2.jpg

And here are some of the addl things we got.

JPEG004-3.jpg

Once my glider comes in, it'll go in the other corner so the palm tree will be between the glider and crib.

I was so thrilled to get the Melissa and Doug Leopard and baby on Freecycle! That's like $70 new.

We also have a lion trashcan, a jungle growth chart and we painted the ceiling fan blades a bright yellow to resemble the sun. We still have Wallies Jumbo clouds to put up in the room, but basically we're done (unless I see something else that is just too adorable!)

Congrats on the losing weight!!!:cool1:

Marshay - The room is adorable. I like what you've done with it....it reminds me of Forrest's nursery when he was little. We had Winnie The Pooh theme....what else, right?..... and we had an artist friend come and paint Pooh Bear all over the walls. Pooh was hanging onto a balloon that actually wrapped up to the ceiling..... I hated painting over it when we sold that little townhouse. Anyway.....your palm tree artwork reminded me of that for some reason? :cloud9:

MadBrad - Congrats on the weight loss. It does feel good to get in the gym.....plus, shedding a few pounds means you can walk that much faster through the parks, right? ;)

All the other Dis friends - Just wanted to say a quick hello! Some of you are on facebook so we send our notes, chats, (I chatted briefly today with Timothy The Lurker) and send our little disney gifts back and forth. But a lot of you aren't so here's my Hello and pretend I'm sending all a plate of brownies, a Willy's sweet shop treat, and a disney figurine! :)

Sad news from the Fleagle fold....Our hopeful trip to Disney is December is most likely going to be a bust...... Forrest is getting braces in March and that pretty much covers a trip. And Alyssa is right behind him by about 9 months....so, looks like we'll be sticking close to home. :sad2:

But for any of you who go, make sure you share your adventure!

Big hugs to all of you! I can't help but think about what was going on last year this time.......:grouphug:

No hours really.
She will travel with us through the day park hopping and riding as part of the borg.....I mean family. :lmao:
A really good kid (16) with certain aspects of her life that make us feel good that we can do this for her, and in exchange, her for us.
The night of DATW she will look after the kids, and we have a dinner planned for just DW and I which she will look after them as well.
During the cruise I am sure some meets will be planned etc which she will come in handy for, if not just to keep an eye on them for us.
An extra set of eyes and hands will come in handy (no pun intended), as some of you know that have met our boys.
They are little balls of energy that don't seem to stop.
She is the only babysitter we have that seems to be able to control them.
Her sister is a travel agent, and so far she is flying for less than we are!
The only thing that concerns me is that she has water diabetes and has to drink about 4 gallons of water a day. :scared1:
That could be a problem carrying that much water around, as we already take 4 or 5 bottles with us as it is.
John the pack mule reporting for duty!

DVC sure makes it a possibility.
We are giving up our week in a 1bdrm in exchange for 2 studios, as 5 cant sleep in a 1bdrm at SSR.
But come Dec, 5 can sleep in a 1bdrm at BLT. :thumbsup2

Now if we could only get that MK view waitlist.........

Hi MadBrad!! :wave2:
I (and DW) have been over on the DisUnplugged boards due to the cruise.
Ann was in chat last week but did not talk to her much.
If you have ever been in chat on the podcast night you will understand why, it moves VERY fast!

PS...How's Minnie?

Hi Heather! :wave2:

Do you ever read the podcast board threads?
It will keep you updated on pretty much everything that is happening, especially regarding December.

Glad you had a great time in Disneyland!

The room looks great Marshay!

If you do join FB, let me know.
DW and I are both on there as well as a couple of thousand other Disers!

Do you remember me saying before we left in Dec to watch the mail, and then DW virtually smacked me?

Keep your eyes open on the mail........just sayin...........

Thats too bad about Dec, Amy, but life comes first.
I dont get back to a lot of stuff on FB lately so if I do not get back to you on things, dont take it personally.
I do read most posts though, just dont answer much.
Maybe when the cruise is over and done with I'll get on it more.
What am I saying! Then it will be time for December planning! Oi Veh!!!

The room looks great Marshay!

Keep your eyes open on the mail........just sayin...........

We are nearly done with the room ... just need to hang vines from the ceiling and clouds on the high walls!

Oh, yes, I remember talking about a package...woo hoo!! I'm already excited.

Carrie already surprised me last week -- love the magic!

No hours really.
She will travel with us through the day park hopping and riding as part of the borg.....I mean family. :lmao:

Thanks for the info. Sounds like she will be a wonderful addition to the group.

Wow, water diabetes....never heard of that one.

BLT in December -- oh I really hope you get it!

I'm still holding out hope that we'll be able to go in the fall or December timeframe. DD asks us about once a week when we are going back (gotta love it!). If DH gets the expected salary bonus from his new job (it would be his 6 month review -- he took the job at a lower income with the promise for a review in 6 months with salary increase if all went well), then we are going.

However, in this economy, we are just fortunate to have a job right now.

Carrie -- just wanted to add an extra plug for Maverick! Sooo adorable! Love the photo of Maverick flying through the air.:thumbsup2

Ah, Facebook...I'm probably the last person on earth who hasn't joined yet...I'm just afraid of adding 'one more thing' to my life.

I don't spend as much time on Facebook as some people do. I mostly just drop in to see what everyone else is up to. My life is too boring to post stuff on Facebook anyway. Most of my time is spent at the gym and work.

I'm actually on DIS every 2-3 days...just like to check in on what's happening around the boards ... and looking for a super good deal for Sept-December...

I spend more time on the DIS especially when I'm at work. I received a 40% pin code in an email back in January. I haven't made reservations yet b/c we are already planning on going in Sept. Plus, I can't get the dates to work out to where the kids won't have to miss too much more school!

I wanted to do a castle theme but not a princess theme (I know, a little weird) but all I could find was either Medieval or the Disney Princesses. The room looks wonderful. We did our DD's room when she was a baby in a jungle theme. It didn't look quite as good as your's though.

Congrats on the losing weight!!!:cool1:

THANKS! :thumbsup2

MadBrad - Congrats on the weight loss. It does feel good to get in the gym.....plus, shedding a few pounds means you can walk that much faster through the parks, right? ;)

Thanks! I'm just happy to be able to fit into some of my other clothes now. I've been thinking about trying to get my stamina built up enough to do one of the marathons at WDW.
