Hello! Happy New Year! And Merry (belated) Christmas!

And: woo-hoo, you're on your way to WDW!

After my month-plus life-mandated DIS hiatus, I've actually managed to catch up on your TR. Go me. :cool1:

Your pink toes are adorable, and are making me feel a bit ashamed for the leftover red chips currently gracing my own (possibly from my wedding in august, sadly).

Can't wait to hear about your arrival, and the Derby, and everything else this trip holds in store!

Thank you for the tip!!! That will help the overall speed of it I'm sure as well. I'll definitely try this out!

I might add, I've gone to this when I'm using my mobile internet stick as well. Eats up far less bytes.

:lmao: SO FUNNY! You were dancing and singing to all those? I LOVE IT!!! Pop does have the best music. I still remember from our '08 trip, we only stayed there one night, and took 2 bus rides, but I heard "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and was jamming out.

It's easy to do. POP is such a groovy kind of place!

Liesa, great update! You look so cute in your TK Tie-Dye! And DD to boot! :woohoo: I've never actually tried their Latte, I'll have to change that.

I really liked the cut that TK chose for it. But too many of those DD lattes, and the curvy sort of cut it has might be filled out a little too roundisher.

I wish we had DD around here, but sadly the last one closed sometime while we were gone.

How very, very cute of the older brother telling his younger siblings all about Disney. :lovestruc

It was VERY cute, and made me all the more excited to be on my way, and almost there.

Happy New Year! We watched 3 movies and ate left overs - romantic evening with just the two of us! We are the fuddiest duddies, but we are home safe!:thumbsup2 We saw Date Night, Grown-Ups, and Prince of Persia.
I think I liked Date Night the best.

We ended up watching 2: Tiana in her Bayou Realm, and Reign of Fire. Both were ok. Forgive me, all you Princess fans out there.

I whipped up the BEST chicken and dumplings with biscuits ever eaten in the Steppesister household!! Mmmmm... Mmm!!!

Fuddy duddy? Yeah, we were in bed at 11:00. I briefly woke up at 12:00 when volley of something went off, only to roll back over and saw some more logs. Felt good too!!

Today, we had a humdinger of a perfect New Year's Day, 2011!! We went over to Oceanside just in time for a little beachcombing and the most beautiful sunset over the Pacific I've EVER seen!! Just lovely!! We stopped in Tillamook and I had a heaping bowlful (a whole pound) of fresh mussels cooked in lime, garlic and cilantro. I ate every single one of those tasty little numbers! :cloud9:

Happy New Year to all !! Kyle and his cousin and Moi were the only ones home !!!I had to wake Kyle to see the Ball drop and then this morning he asked why I didn't wake him!!:rotfl2:

I may start my PTR for August very soon !!I will be looking for Tips on how to make The Sweet Sixteen Trip really special !!When it comes to "special" & "fun" this the thread to ask on!!! If I asked on Marv's He'd have Spoon Dancing,Piglet ideas !!:lmao:

Sounds like a nice quiet-ish evening, Rosie! Nice! :thumbsup2 With all the work you've been doing lately, you needed some down time.

I'll be watching for that, but if I miss it, please PM me.

Hey, I need to repot on our Settlers of Catan progress. We really like the game, and have played 3 times so far, including last night. Believe it or not, James won the first game, and I've won the last two. Marlene hasn't fared well and declared that she now doesn't like strategy games. Judy's only played one of the times and afterward said that she still doesn't "get it".

I meant to ask you about that a few days ago, then forgot!! It's a great game, but I think it's more fun if you have a bit of a competitive personality. So, you bought the original version right? Once you master that, you might want to upgrade to Knights and Cities; there's a lot more dimension and strategy to that one. Judy, don't give up, sometimes it takes more than a game or two, to "get it".

Sounds like us - our evening's festivities included watching John Wayne in "True Grit", then when we couldn't decide on another movie we watched an episode of NCIS that we had DVR-d. When that was done we watched a little bit of Pawn Stars until midnight...then Danny went and fiddled on his computer awhile (updating the counter on the Village website to account for the new year) while I watched more Pawn Stars and/or American Pickers. Our menu consisted of cheese, sausage & crackers, little weenies wrapped in crescent rolls, pickles and loaded, baked potato sticks. Gotta love a junk food filled night!

I really like NCIS, but since we don't have cable, we don't get to watch it unless we are at the Salem house. Ah well, in a year or two, the library will have it to rent.

Pawn Stars AND Pickers are two of my favorites!! Good stuff those two!

Your dinner sounds like a veritable feast of junk food!! I love it! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 All you needed was some Pabst Blue Ribbon to go with it all.

So glad you're back!! I've missed you, and Happy Holidays to you and your family too!!

I know, I'm finally on my way- aren't you excited!? Sorry about that W link that seems to not be working. I still need to fix that!!

Arrival is coming soon, but man, getting pictures in order, edited, and uploaded is such a big pain in the patootey!!

We have a winner!!

Ok, I finished up going back through the thread (I still never want to do that again! (but Ijust did because, well, that's what game hostesses do)) and tallied up points for the game. Which concludes it.

Here we go:

A- There was no winner, because there was no letter.

B- Tanya was the first one to weigh in, grabbing the point!

C- Camille (how appropriate that a caring lady that starts with c got it.) Again only one winner that time- first one, and all that... Sign was from crystal palace

D- addictedtothemouse won this round- the sign was from the port orleans riverside entrance sign

E- Several winners from this sign from ghiradelli at DTD- flossbolna, glennbo, maryaz, and jedijill- Way to go!

F- Another one that was open to multiple winners- who were: Camille, flossbolna, Marv, glennbo, and Brook!! Sign was from Fairfax Fare in DHS.

G- none

H- none

I- none

J- none (are you seeing a pathetic pattern here?)

K- Oohhh, lots of winners here; it was from Jiko! Onelilspark, glennbo, jedijill, camille, flossbolna, nodnol, marv, dani, tinkgurl, and Pat all got it. (either you all spent way too much time "researching" this one, or it was far too easy!)

L- none

M- none

N- This one was from the Land Pavilion at Epcot, and congrats to go: Millie, glenn, tanya (mom3sonstt), dan, jenbear, onelilspark, floss, pat, and marv

O- O didn't have as many players... Too bad, it was a gimme from space mountain! Tinkgurl, camille, marv, glenn, pat, and floss all came away with an easy point!

P- P was taken from Alice's Tea Party (the wait time sign)- points go to:
Flossbolna, poolrat, and Capt. Oblivious!

Q- Okay, this one was most likely your hardest one, and may have been the one that separated the overacheivers from the others. Those who dug deep and found it was from Cirque du Soleil at DTD were:
Flossbolna, glennbo, Cap't Oblique, and Marvi-lous.

R- R was the biggest giveaway yet in the game: It was straight from my avatar- the Main Street Electical parade. Those savvy point takers were:
Poolrat, jenbear, tinkgurl, marvali, wisegal, flossbolna, mom3sonstt, the cap't, and millie

S- S was tougher, and taken from maelstrom. The ride that seems like it shouldn't always have an hour long line, but does. Points go to: Poolrat, flossbolna, and cap't oblivious

T- T was fairly easy and was from tower of terror. The only 4 who scored on it, unless i missed any others, which is entirely likely, were flossbolna, sleeping booty, and poolrat, and Tammie.

U- I'm pretty sure someone got this one... Magdalene did you guess the hall of presidents?? Or was it pat?? Until someone tells me and finds his/her answer, i can't call 2nd place!!

Cleary, magdalene did her research well, and came away the victor!! Congratulations- your prize should be on the way, as soon as you send me your address again. :cool1::cool1:

That makes the points like this so far:

Marv- 5

glenn- 6

cap't oblivious- 4 (or is is 5?)

flossbolna- 10

camille- 6

pat (poolrat)- 6

onelilspark- 2 so sorry i forgot this earlier!!

Tinkgurl- 3

addictedtothemouse- 1

tanya- 3

dan (fauntleroy...)- 1

jedijill- 2

nodnol- 1

jenbear123- 2

brook- 1

maryaz- 1

dani (starnight...)- 1

sleepingbooty- 1

MAGICFOR2- 1

I know that I probably have a few mess-ups here, so please do send corrections to me!!!

Happy New Year Glenn! I have heard about that game. Here's what I've heard - it is a game that only Nerds "get" so the reason Judy doesn't get it is that she's not a Nerd! J/K :rotfl2:

Liesa, I have to chime in cuz I got 1 right - I was, I think, the first one to get the T - I sent you a PM because I couldn't get the color chart. No need to go back and fix the post, just a High-Five will do! :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! The sunset sounds great - not the mussells - Jim would have gone for those - I would have a bucket of clams, or some clam chowder with lots of bread!:thumbsup2

Count me in the nerd bunch. I get it, and love it!! I love to catch my opponents with the longest road, just before the end of the game!!!

You are right! I was looking for the answers in the thread, so of course, I will go back and change it right now!! Everyone who played is a big WINNER in my book! It was a difficult game, and those who stuck with me, need a big shout out!!

Zach had the clam chowder, and would have had bread, but I was a cruel pig of a mother and did not share. Don't worry, he didn't need any, as he didn't even finish his soup. But promptly came home and ate 2 pumpkin bars and a PB&J. :headache:

Hey girl~ your in WDW!

You sound VERY busy!! Yikes! I like to be on late at night too; that's when no one bugs me, and I can concentrate on what I'm doing on here.

Hope your New Year is a great one in every way, Kim!! Enjoy it well!

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I never guessed the "U" that one was way too difficult for me. :scared1:

It was a fun game! So no more letter guessing throughout the second alphabet? :goodvibes

Yep, you are the winner! Your hard work paid off; but since I am no longer in Crapistan, I'm afraid your prize won't be nearly as intriguing. Hmmm..... something typicallly Northwestern? Thinking, thinking...

Nope, no more letters, unless I am begged or bribed. :rolleyes1

Hey You forgot all my wrong guesses !!!!:rotfl2:

Check out the PTR thread for a SWEET SIXTEEN PTR!!!!

THANKS! for letting me know!! I'll be over soon!

I don't think I got U either- I said AA not HoP
Oh well. Don't know why I did not think of HoP. :confused3

It was a tough one, that's for sure!! I need to go back through the texts again to see if I can find that one post of the person who I thought got it. I was sure there was one... :confused3 If I can't I'll have to declare a 3 way tie for 2nd.

STOP. IT!!!!

I am laughing so hard now, that my snorting is going to wake up the house. Seriously, that is so funny I may actually HAVE an accident!

and totally a J moment!! I love it!

You know I may not be around often these days but I have to try to make the appearances count.

Okay, I'm sitting here like this :confused3 for awhile - being blonder than I pay to be! NOW I get it - all of it! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

blonder than you pay for. That's classic Tammie, I love it!

enough to have the urge to re-do my toes. As “cute” as they were, I was feeling the need to bring on the sassy, and ended up with this:

LiesaDay1054.jpg

Very snazzy!

Since I had plenty of time to play out this trip in my mind (ad nauseum) over the last 2 years, I had micro-managed even down to the breakfast I’d make for my travel. How does this sound: Ham quiche with gruyere and cheddar cheeses, spiked with spinach and green onion? I thought so. Don’t mess with the “I’m going to Disney World breakfast”. Well, what I didn’t plan on was being up too early for even the bed bugs to have gotten full, so I went ahead and ate it pre-travel, in the quiet, dark kitchen all decked out in my bright, colorful, tie-dye, ready to take on the World.

LiesaDay1118.jpg

Wow, I want that for breakfast. YUM!

In case you also suffer from MFPP (mid-flight pee panic) just look for the signs- they are pretty clear, as are the signs to ME.

I must say, if and when I so suffer from MFPP....and I do....I can't wait for the landing to deal with it. I suppose you shall be known henceforth as "bladder of steel" who apparently has plane stall aversion (PSA, a known condition).

Then again, a pre-flight latte will do it every time!

I still need to comment on your update... Not just enjoy being a winner (please do not get into any hassle about a prize for me! I would be happy with just a shiny title like Glenn got from Captain Oblivious!)...

Love your toe nails! How did you get those ornaments on your nails? Are they like stickers? And all this talk about feet compliments reminded me that I had a similar think happening to me. When I was in Canada in 2003 I had this rather dark rad nail polish and twice people complimented me on the colour of my nails... At first I was rather shocked but then I decided that a compliment is always nice... :goodvibes

I am impressed that you planned your breakfast! The quiche looks delicious!

I am quite sure that you had a real ME bus, not a cruise line one - the red pattern with yellow stars is the ME bus seat. The cruise line busses have a nautical pattern.

Hooray for your arrival in WDW!!:cool1: Congratulations to Magdalene, you really DID do your research!

LOVE the pretty pink toes!:cutie:

Wow! You have really cute feet!

Oh, I'm sorry. Was that too forward? :rotfl2:

I was on top of my game and ready to go. Except I remembered I needed to brush my teeth again. So I did. I’ll bet you think that’s an unnecessary little tidbit of information, don’t you, Dear Reader?

This is your trip report. Nothing is unnecessary if you don't think it is. But if you're going to include this, we need details, such as: color of toothbrush, type of toothpaste, soft/medium bristles, and whether you use the dentist-recommended circular brushing motion or the good ol' American back-and-forth Industrial Quickie Scrub.

Well, at least that guy isn't nailing boards on the windows of the Grand Floridian. Then I'd have been worried.

Other than that, the flight was the usual boring affair with some guy droning on and on about something that wasn’t Disney-related, and me consuming just enough liquid to make myself perfectly miserable just about the time the seatbelt light flashed on.

After I landed, I quickly took care of business while chanting my post-landing mantra, B and Down, B and Down, B and Down. I know it might have meant having to wait for the next bus into town, but hey, what good is a sooner bus ride, if you’re wet?? And I don’t mean from the Florida rain, folks.

Now THAT'S how you do it! Details matter. :lmao:

Really, this was such a momentous occasion, and I contemplated kissing the bus driver on my way in. But I didn’t, thinking he’d be so flustered he’d take me to All Stars Sports instead of POP.

I bet he didn't even notice your feet, anyway.

I also got to enjoy a video in between their squeals of delight; if I weren’t 43, I’d have been squealing too, at least on the outside.

Me too! But my squeals are very manly.

It was a complete reality that I was all alone, with only the company of me…. IN DISNEY WORLD!!! The day was wide open for anything I wanted to do with no one to say, “I’m tired”, “I’m hungry”, or “I have to go to the bathroom again”.

Is this heaven? :confused3

Oh, and happy new year!

I still need to comment on your update... Not just enjoy being a winner (please do not get into any hassle about a prize for me! I would be happy with just a shiny title like Glenn got from Captain Oblivious!)...

Congratulations Magdalene! (I did get Tower of Terror, though.:sad2:)

How about MOST EXCELLENT DISNEY ALPHABET DE-CODER (and shiny, too!)?

And so it begins.

I can't tell you how happy I am that you have finally made it "home". It's I am popcorn:: and :surfweb: for the :lmao: and the  and the :rotfl2: to begin.
