A houseboat family vacation sounds like so much fun. But I would have been like you too. My mind would have only been on the House of Mouse. I'm not of much use a work when I have a trip coming up.

Sounds like you've got lots going on to get ready for the holidays. I hope you have a wonderful first Christmas back home with family!

I waited until I was 21 to drink, and waited to learn how to bake bread until I was 25. I waited 7-9 months 5 times to see my children come into the world, and for a whole lotta other things in my life, but just in time for my Week O’ Freedom I had decided that I’d waited long enough to color my hair for the first time. Remember those butterflies you got on your first date? I was feeling pretty giddy and all grown up when I emerged from the stylist’s salon sporting my new “honey ginger” do, and a whole lot more sassy than usual- perfect for the independence I’d need for doing Disney solo in just a few days from then!

It was also perfect for meeting up with a few of the friends I’d made over the last year and a half- those I’d met right here and show had followed my planning journey. I was ecstatic that the day had finally come! It’s hard to put into words all the excitement and anticipation I was harboring. Let me preface by saying I adore my family; they are my most precious earthly treasure. I love the way we laugh together, tackle life’s hardships together, and just do life together! But part of me had come to wonder if I could still enjoy the company of me. I wondered if I could stand on my own 2 feet and be independent for a short time.

As we set out to Nashville, these musings swirled in my mind, and I actually revisited them several times over the next days. At the airport, it was time to part ways with my hubby, and finally in a very palpable way, I felt like my vacation and the first time I’d been away from my family in over 20 years was about to begin. This was it; the actual moment had come!!

How did it feel? Like I had to go to the ladies’ room in the next 30 seconds or they were going to have to call the Hazmat Team out for a liquid biospill. But true to form, my mom made me almost late again. Luckily, early on, I had dumped AirSuckyTran and went with JetBetterBlue, and breezed through check-in. First act of independence? I self checked-in. With no time to dilly and even less to dally, I jogged to security. Being a fairly well-traveled person, I knew to dig form my ID and boarding pass well before I got there. Then for the 3rd time in a week, I was treated to a perfect stranger copping a feel, and wished I had my “lethal weapon” then instead of during my recent 5K.

As I was putting my stuff off the conveyor and grabbing for my shoes, a voice behind me says, “Hey, you have really pretty feet.” So, I gotta ask you guys out there… is that really a pick up line? Stunned (and perfectly flattered), I said “thank you”, and mumbled something about spending hours on them. Shaving alone took quite a while. By now it was only minutes from boarding time, and I began to panic. So as fast as my pretty feet could carry me, I ran all the way to my gate. Of course, it was the furthest one out on the concourse. When I got there, boarding had already begun, and I was cursing my mother from making me cut it this close. I was also cursing my 5 children for making it so that by the time I got there, running, I was half way done with my business. But the bathroom was at my gate, so I finished up in there, and then waltzed directly onto the plane. It was THAT close.

I immediately whipped out my Minnie book and started writing the notes I’d need to tell my tale. I also took a picture of what precipitated such lavish praise (and such a large heap of cow dookie) . I actually think he may have been serious if I do say so myself.

The flight was fine and rather uneventful, and my sister (Ball of Wax) was there to meet me in DC. It was finally time to head off in search of JenBear and Bubba so we could caravan over to the DISMeet lunch place. Would I find them? Yeah, but NOT without a bit of drama. Really, by now you DO expect this, right??

Love it.

I understand you want to "get to it" and start the official Disney Trip.
I feel that way about the holiday photos.

I wouldn't dream of saying, "You have really pretty feet" to someone in line at airport security!
omgblinky.gif

But yeah...good thing you shaved!

Well, with them all painted up, bejeweled (and shaved??;)) how could the poor guy help himself. :confused3 :lmao:

Oh my goodness!! You surprised us!! :yay:

I had a long post with many quotes to answer to, but alas it flubbed and didn't post! :headache: Oh well. I had a really funny post to add to Mark's funny about his wife just coming out of surgery. I'll go back and do it again, but right now I'm just to tired. Cookie baking will take it out of you.

How did your Bible Study party go?

By the way, your feet were very pretty and just for the record I would have told a woman she had pretty feet. Then again I've never met a stranger and I'm also a woman, I'm kinda with you Glenn, I don't know that I would have told a woman she had pretty feet if I were a man.
Maybe he was hitting on you Liesa!!
JGwickedsexy.gif

:rotfl: that is so funny about your feet! What a line!!!

But your feet do look good!

I swear I had asked this before, but if I did-I didn't see your response and couldn't find where I asked it, so I'm asking again! Did you ever explain the letters in your siggy button thing? I remember talk about it on someone else's report, but I never found out if you shared the answer....it still baffles me!

Yes I have to agree , that was quite a pick up line:thumbsup2:rotfl2:I too am now finishing up my DC Meet Report , for me it was due to the fact that I couldn't upload pix !!That however has changed !!:goodvibesNow I have anew goal for 2011 to learn how to do chapter links !!!

beheaded ? WOW, sounds like a true family vacation :lmao:
I have loved every installement of ur report even though i've been more of a lurker only posting once, my excitement is completely built up for Disney week of freedom !

Whenever my family gets together, it's a hoot! Always some sort of drama, tempter tantrums from my sisters' kids, you name it. I 'm glad it was only 4 days long.

I do love it when you post!!! Come back more often and join in the party! Next stop DC- Pt. 2

Cool and amazing! :thumbsup2

I will keep my fingers crossed on the job possibility! :goodvibes

I will do that!! It will be a steep learning curve, but I am ready.

Hi Liesa! I asked about drop down chart on the tech boards. They think it is because of using the Holiday theme. Are you using the Holiday background?

I can't remember - it seems like someone else here noticed that problem, too. I think they are working on it.

I thought it might have something to do with that! I AM using the holiday background right now, and come to think of it, that's exactly when my problems started. I switched to "discreet" while at my FIL's house, and it dissappeared. I never made the connection!! Doy!

Loopy is awesome! :thumbsup2 That's when you can ask him to fund future Disney vacations.

Quick story: my wife had surgery a couple of years ago to remove part of her colon. On the way to the hospital, her mom said, "We were thinking of taking you guys on a Disney Cruise next year." Upon coming out of the surgery, as the morphine wore off, my wife looked at me and said, "Did she really say that?" :lmao:

Hmmm. So if the anticipation is half of the fun, and re-living it in the TR is the other half, does that mean the actual trip sucks? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I was going to make a Nearly Headless Liesa crack, but figured it was the wrong theme park.

Hmmm.... what a great idea!!! I'll have to remember to set his Vicadins out, and hope he messes up. :lmao::lmao:

Funny story!! You should dope her up some more, and then mess with her some- tell her you traded your kidney for another toddler or something.

Good point. Maybe the math works out like this: 1/2 Pre-trip excitement, 1/2 TR, AND trip itself= Total trip experience. I'm sure there's algebra to prove it, but I dropped that like a hot potato after my first semester at university. :rolleyes1

I think I'd have looked pretty good galloping down Main Street with a cape.

Now that you mention it, it does jiggle a memory.

Indeed!

I was going to use the word jiggle too, but then thought it might be too edgy. Glad you've got us all back on track. :lmao:

im i the only one wondering what will happen when we get to Z will we start over at AA then BB etc.

or is there something else planned.
:confused3

do what to whom?

don't fry yourself too hard on this Dan.... we'll just keep going through A-Z over and over until I'm done. Keep your popcorn handy.

Well, let's see. There is Greek, Hebrew, Klingon, the Elf Language of Middle Earth...

Don't forget Kazakh- then I could really mess with you.

All caught up, Liesa. Yes, loopy is good and I'm glad to hear dad is doing okay.

I can't wait for the pre-trip Disney portion. Wait, isn't that what all of this has been? :confused3:confused3:confused3

He's doing fine. Except, last night, he calls and says, "Where's my wallet?" I had specifically told him he wasn't supposed to drive, and he told me, " oh no, I don't plan to go anywhere. I'll just stay here." At 5:30 he calls up and says, do you have it? I wanted to go into Panda Express for dinner. :lmao: Busted!!!! :rotfl2:

Disney ought to "conveniently" fall on letter A. Imagine that! :rolleyes1

I think.... but I'm not sure either.... :confused3

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Baaaa!

or you could just add ehh after everything since she is pretty close to canada

sorry bad joke.

Where's JenBear while the Canada bashing is going on? :rotfl2:

Sounds like you've got lots going on to get ready for the holidays. I hope you have a wonderful first Christmas back home with family!

Added to the fact that a couple of my family memebers are mildly misbehaved. Some are actually severely misbehaved- so I took several sanity breaks in my bedroom with my Mickey and my Minnie books.

Thanks, Vanessa!!! I do! My son's flight took off from Nashville already, and he's on his way! My folks arrive on Monday and then it's a whirlwind of activity. WE'll likely go to the Oregon coast for wave watching and chowder on the 22nd, then more family arrives on the 24 with a HUGE bash with like 20 people starrting at 4:00!!

Good news: BEk and I did all the "heavy lifting" over the last couple of weeks. Beds are changed, everything is vacuumed, dusted, scrubbed, cleaned, and SUPER decked out! The only "big thing" left is doing all the shopping for the food and booze. UGH!!

Sassy hair, pretty feet.

You vixen. :lmao:

Meow. :lmao:

Love it.

WE'll get there!! WE have a patient bunch here.

But yeah...good thing you shaved!

I was just wondering what his wife would have thought.... :confused3 It was VERY odd, but VERY funny!! I totally cracked up in my mind after recovering from the initial shock.

Like I said it took hours!!!

Well, with them all painted up, bejeweled (and shaved??;)) how could the poor guy help himself. :confused3 :lmao:

He was smitten, I'm sure.

Sorry about that odd reference to shaving. Months ago, I used some terrible syntax in a post, and the guys jumped all over it- accusing me of having hairy feet. :lmao: Lesson learned: with Glenn and Marv around here, you must use letter perfect spelling, grammar and syntax EVERY time. Or you'll pay for it.

Oh my goodness!! You surprised us!! :yay:

Yes, cookie baking is a dangerous sport. Be careful! It always seems especially dangerous for my hips and thighs. :confused3

Yep, I even surprised myself.... this house here in Portland is EASY peasy to clean since we have VERY little in it. A quick potty scrub, vacuum job and with lots of little helpers we had it done pretty quickly. So I ended up having a bit of extra time- of course, pre-writing it helped a lot too.

Party went fine. Bek played guitar and another gal her age played violin for our carol singing time. Then we just sat by our fire and talked and talked.

One highlight was when Mikki (my 15 year old) started sparring (totally a no-no in TKD) with another 15 year old guy. It got funny when he came out of the bedroom where all the kids were hanging out with a bloody nose!!!! :scared1::scared1 What's even funnier is that she is only a yellow belt, and he a black belt. :lmao::lmao:

That wasn't the first time I've been "hit on" while flying. These incidents make the male species look like swine.

Earlier on Glenn and GB figured out what Cynthia had done with the new link. The letters DO re-arrange into a word that was ummm....rather thematic in the PTR. Can you see it?? I'll let you guess first.

WOW!!! I don't know what I would do if some strange man said I had pretty feet:lmao:, but they do look rather nice in that picture. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm so sad you said Airsuckytran, cause that is what I'm flying in January :sad2: I'm waiting for southwest to come to Memphis, which I heard they just bought or merged with airtran and I'm hoping happens soon.

Drama in your TR, never :rotfl2: I can't wait to see what kind of drama the DC meet brought. popcorn::

Ok, I finished up going back through the thread (I NEVER want to do that again! (but I just did because, well, that's what game hostesses do)) and tallied up points for the game so far.

Here we go:

A- there was no winner, because there was no letter.

B- Tanya was the first one to weigh in, grabbing the point!

C- Camille (how appropriate that a Caring Lady that starts with C got it.) Again only one winner that time- first one, and all that... sign was from Crystal Palace

D- addictedtothemouse won this round- the sign was from the Port Orleans Riverside entrance sign

E- several winners from this sign from Ghiradelli at DTD- Flossbolna, Glennbo, MaryAZ, and jedijill- WAY TO GO!

F- Another one that was open to multiple winners- who were: Camille, Flossbolna, Marv, Glennbo, and Brook!! Sign was from Fairfax Fare in DHS.

G- None

H- None

I- None

J- None (Are you seeing a pathetic pattern here?)

K- Ooohhh, lots of winners here; it was from Jiko! onelilspark, glennbo, jedijill, Camille, Flossbolna, nodnol, Marv, Dani, Tinkgurl, and Pat all got it. (Either you all spent WAY too much time "researching" this one, or it was far too easy!)

L- None

M- None

N- This one was from the Land Pavilion at EPCOT, and congrats to go: Millie, Glenn, Tanya (mom3sonstt), Dan, Jenbear, onelilspark, Floss, Pat, and Marv

O- O didn't have as many players... too bad, it was a gimme from Space Mountain! tinkgurl, Camille, Marv, Glenn, Pat, and Floss all came away with an easy point!

P- P was taken from Alice's Tea Party (the Wait Time sign)- Points go to:
Flossbolna, Poolrat, and Capt. Oblivious!

Q- Okay, this one was most likely your hardest one, and may have been the one that separated the overacheivers from the others. Those who dug deep and found it was from Cirque du Soleil at DTD were:
Flossbolna, Glennbo, Cap't Oblique, and Marvi-lous.

R- R was the biggest giveaway yet in the game: It was straight from my Avatar- The Main Street Electical Parade. Those savvy point takers were:
Poolrat, JenBear, tinkgurl, Marvali, wisegal, Flossbolna, mom3sonstt, The Cap't, and Millie

S- S was tougher, and taken from Maelstrom. The ride that seems like it shouldn't always have an hour long line, but does. Points go to: Poolrat, Flossbolna, and Cap't Oblivious

T- So far only Tammie has gotten a point for this.

That makes the points like this so far:

Marv- 5

Glenn- 6

Cap't Oblivious- 4 (or is is 5?)

Flossbolna- 9

Camille- 6

Pat (Poolrat)- 5

onelilspark- 2 So sorry I forgot this earlier!!

Tinkgurl- 3

addictedtothemouse- 1

Tanya- 3

Dan (Fauntleroy...)- 1

jedijill- 2

nodnol- 1

jenbear123- 2

Brook- 1

MaryAZ- 1

Dani (starnight...)- 1

I know that I probably have a few mess-ups here, so please do send corrections to me!!!

I think you already know the story, but I think the others will find it somewhat amusing to hear how incredibly dingy I can be. :upsidedow

I was just wondering what his wife would have thought.... :confused3 It was VERY odd, but VERY funny!! I totally cracked up in my mind after recovering from the initial shock.

Maybe he was a podiatrist? :lmao:

What was the answer to O and Q? You did not list it.
