Ya think? You just like it cuz I'm making an azz out of myself! :lmao:

:confused3 I'm not seeing the problem here.

No! I'm kiddiiiiing! I like it because it reminds me when Liesa sent it to you from Crapastan and how happy you were to get it! Silly.
Can you believe it's been almost a year since we all started hanging out here on Liesa's and Jordy's thread? (or was that just me ) I do know it was around Thanksgiving time last year we all started coming together as the big Dis family we've become. Pretty cool, huh? I love how the family just keeps getting bigger. :yay:

Hey you West Coasters and Camille = Jim is getting used to the idea that I want to meet up with all you "strangers"! :yay: If it can happen on a weekend when we are already in Eugene for a Duck game, that would be extra good! I see a light at the end of the DIS tunnel!!!:cool1:

:yay: :dance3: :cool1: :dance3: :cool1: :dance3: :yay: I was just thinking about this earlier today, I'm so happy to hear he's coming around! :goodvibes

I just want to thank everyone again for all of your prayers and good thoughts for my step-father. He's doing so much better. The cardiologist is not even sure why his lungs filled up with fluid, but he is not calling it congestive heart failure which is great. So now I can breathe and be back here!!

Camille - I didn't hear about this - how scary! It's so hard not to worry about your children as they move out into the world. I tried calling my son earlier today, and he didn't get back to me. I heard there was a bad accident in town and of course I couldn't get thoughts out of my head that perhaps he had gotten into a car accident. I guess that's part of our job as parents - we worry!!

Tracy, I didn't realize your boy was living away from home already. And your right, it's our job as parents to look out for them, I think worrying just comes with it.

Tracy, I'm really happy to hear this wonderful news about your step-father. And I'm happy to see you back here again too! :lovestruc I just wish you lived in the Northwest so I could meet you when I fly out to have a meet with Liesa a few lovely ladies who live out that way, and possibly Maroo too! :goodvibes

Tracy, I'm so happy to hear your step-father is doing better, and that the diagnosis isn't as bad. Praise God!

::yes:: Amen!

Good Morning FamilY!!!:hug:I have been hanging out on Jordan's thread for 3 years , but joined Liessa about a year ago too!!

Are you saying I cheat:lmao: I won fair and square !!!:snooty:Even if you had been here ya wouldn;t have beat me so there :rotfl2:

Yes, you swooped-in with the correct answer only 13 minutes after I posted...that would have been tough to beat...even for Marv.

4 pages of chitter-chatter??!! :scared1:

I gotta put in a full day of homeschool, then my son has a dentist appt. at 4:10- so looks like it's going to be an- only-on-in-the evening sort of day for me.

Ok, better start "crackin". :lmao::lmao::lmao:

back to catch ya later, Gators.

Oh no....not THAT picture here too. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Now, I'll have to go check Captain_Oblivious's report to see what you are all talking about.

Yes, THAT picture here... again. :lmao::lmao:

Enjoy your time in the great outdoors!

Thanks, we did.

Tim knows me from the DIS Dad's club. So yes, my reputation as a complete idiot precedes me. :joker:

And yes, I need to see this picture!

Then you're in good company, my new friend. :lmao:

Tim is usually willing to oblige. Yes, Tim??

Not ALL dad's are complete idiots. ;)

The picture in question is on the last page of my TR if you want to see it (Tim is on the steps!).

Most??

I mean, why would you choose the FRONT porch to stage this idiocy.

Well, I should just get it out of the way and post it here too...

This was my prize from winning one of Liesa's contests way back in 2009....

DSC09072.jpg

It was a whip... not just any whip, a whip from Kazakhstan. Of course I had to try it out.. LOL

DSC09073.jpg

Now 'said picture will be delete in 36 hours.. so get a good look people!!!!!!

See, now you COULD play "dead goat polo" with it, if the fancy strikes you.

Ahem.

So many jokes could be said about that whip.

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl::lmao:

And I'm sure MANY have been said!

And I"m sure we could all cast a few more onto the table without too much brain damage.

Tim, that picture still cracks me up!

Love the update Liesa - poor poor Mike! I never travel without Immodium either!

Have a great time camping - where ya headed?

Thanks, Rebekah!! I have another one written, but need to get it typed and the photos uploaded.

We went up to Mt. Hood- a bit over on the east side, which meant a bit better weather than on the west side of the Cascades. :)

Have a great time camping, Liesa! We're "camping" in a friends' driveway in Eugene for the Duck game! They are letting us leave the trailer there for the Winter so we can sleep there for games, and then we'll take it to the coast for a weekend in the Spring before bringing it home! Looking forward to Monday!

GO DUCKS!!!!
Oregon_Ducks_Logo_images1.jpg

Uh- oh... DH is a Beaver. CAn we still be friends?? :lmao:

So, camping in a friend's driveway?? That's an interesting concept. Sure saves on hotel costs though. Spring camping is sure dicey around here, ain't it? I remember MANY beach trips with 70 MPH winds where you get an insta-facial when you walk by the waves.

Just wanted to thank everyone who posted and/or sent me well wishes and prayer. It meant so much to me and definitely helped during some scary moments - like being wheeled into the OR holding area!

Thanks so much!!!! :grouphug:

Why you are SO welcome! Any time we can lean on each other is a good thing. Makes a tough road a bit easier.

Not if I copy/paste/save it. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You wouldn't!!

Would you?

Whew, all caught up. Thanks for helping me to have a great evening. I was a little down because I am missing my family and your report cheered me up and helped me not be so homesick.

I"m so glad you are enjoying reading along!! Any time you need a little pick-me-up you are welcome to join in!

I hate being homesick- I know the feeling ALL TOO WELL!!

Ya think? You just like it cuz I'm making an azz out of myself! :lmao:

UMMMM you wouldn't do that...

ok you probably would. :sad2::sad2:

Resisting the urge to make myself look similar by just saying ANYTHING.

Relax Rosie, I was attending a Wooden Spoons and Their Various Uses convention all weekend!:rolleyes1

Actually, like Liesa, I was camping with boy scouts all weekend (well, Liesa wasn't with scouts, but you know what I mean), so very much out of touch. And those wooden spoons were actually boat paddles, since we did a five mile canoe trip as part of the weekends activities! I am sOAR, sOAR, sOAR! Of course, when you spend a weekend with scouts you can think of at least ONE good use for a wooden spoon before the weekend is over.

Glad to see Liesa was also out of touch all weekend. At least I didn't miss any contests while I was gone. Of course, that IS one way for Rosie to beat me to the answer......... ;)

I'd take camping with family over Scouts ANYDAY!!!

I can imagine Scouts cooking up all kinds of good (or bad) reasons to need a wooden spoon behavior adjustment.

Nope, no contests until a bit later tonight or tomorrow. But this one will be for everyone.

Funny Marv!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I just mentioned it to my DH yesterday, and he didn't flat out object, so now it is just a matter of time to let him adjust to the idea and then work out logistics.

We'll be working on dates very soon- so stay tuned....

So glad you are back with us- and with a lighter heart!! It was a scary week you had- and that can sure weigh on someone! It's awesome that he is doing better.

Hi Liesa,

I hope you had a great weekend camping!! The weather was lovely here this weekend - yesterday I took a drive to Lake Placid - so beautiful with the leaves changing color!

I got a chance to catch up on your report - thanks to your absence! ;)

A nail biter indeed!!! I was so nervous just reading about the tense 30 minutes waiting for the agent and the stamp!! I can only imagine what you were feeling! What a blessing that he arrived in the nick of time! I would have been jumping up and down too!

And poor Mike! The visual of him outside in the middle of the night getting sick! What a nightmare!! And your daughter stepping in his "sickness"! :rotfl: And you being the lucky one to get to clean it up!

Love the pics of the horse weiners!! A little mustard and ketchup will make most anything taste great! :lmao:

What great updates!! Can't wait for more!!! :yay:

My sister is going up to Niagara for THanksgiving. Is that near Placid? Sounds like a really nice drive and time away from all the stress!

LOL!! Yeah, ketchup and mustard will cure anything- but these didnt' need anything! YUM!!

:confused3 I'm not seeing the problem here.

No! I'm kiddiiiiing! I like it because it reminds me when Liesa sent it to you from Crapastan and how happy you were to get it! Silly.

That's right! He even saved (or just photographed) the stamps.

It's been a really great couple of years getting to each of you, and sharing in your lives. It IS very cool!

Tim: the pictures were SO worth the hype. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Once in a while we do get a 6 carat gem that gets set nicely in the setting of this TR. ;)

Work that whip Tim! ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Hey Tink! How are you??

12:15 AM, Tues, August 17th

Just about the only good thing about traveling late is the lack of the traffic, and for our family, the LESS time that we spend in Almaty traffic, the better. There’ve just been too many times we’ve used the last bags for car sickness emergencies. Not so tonight: we were starting out well- in health and with plenty of extra time- just the way I like it. We breezed through customs and passport control, thanks to Mr. Immigration Stampy-Pants, and settled our sleepy selves next to those already waiting to be called to such exotic destination as Prague, Moscow, and Novosibersk.

DSCN8267.jpg

No sooner had we plopped down, Anara declared that she was “starving” It’s a good thing, because no one else but a starving person would eat this:

DSCN8262.jpg

--a $4 hamburger bun with a piece of melted processed “cheese” on top. I’m pretty sure she managed to choke down about ½ until she gave up- having just barely cheated death by starvation.

Her alternative was something from here:

DSCN8260.jpg

But even those so close to succumbing to the horrors of dying by malnourishment would be hard pressed to get several fish ovum into one’s waning system. Which leaves me to ponder just who it was who first experimented with eating such vile things as fish guts, bird vomit nest soup, and sheeps’ private parts. Of course, those same folks were probably wondering how others could eat moldy fermented milk curds, distilled corn mash, and forest fungi.

Boarding was rather uneventful- another long haul flight, another chance to lose a night’s sleep.

DSCN8270.jpg

This was certainly re-assuring. Great for business, I should say!

DSCN8272.jpg

The kids lucked out because, well, they are kids, and can sleep just about anywhere; and I lucked out, because I scored an empty row. Just loosen that seatbelt all the way, and stretch on out. After a while the armrests and other seatbelts dig themselves in far enough that you really don’t feel them gutting you anymore. I suppose the glass of Chardonay probably didn’t hurt either. We were headed to a vacation we’ve wanted to do for more than a decade, and life was good. And getting better- or so we thought. Until the all-too-familiar “I don’t feel so good” siren started wailing about an hour before DESCENDING. Oh, ok, no need to panic. Probably just from turbulence, lack of sleep, or excitement.

“No, Mom I need a barf bag!” Givitng myself permission to now panic, the full revelation of a ruined vacation came hurtling down the “This-can’t-be-happening” Express. Of all times for a virus to make its rounds, why now?!! It wasn’t the meatloaf after all!! Thinking back I realized that Anara had been sick about a week before we left, and was thankful it wasn’t during our trip; we assumed Mikes’ Night of Hell was due to little lambs who ate too much ivy. All doubt was gone. This was a NASTY bunch of beasties whose sole purpose was to wreck whatever we had planned for the next 2 days.

Slowly, we disembarked and planned our strategy. It was obvious that we would now need every minute (and possibly more) of our 2 hours we had to find, and get on, our ICE Train to Nuremberg. Would we make it with a 15 year old whose health was DESCENDING quicker than my bank account while being subjected to Disney prices?? Would we find the right track?? And most importantly, which pastry did we choose????

DSCN8273.jpg

Hi Liesa! I'm doing good..still fighting a cold! On my second type of medicine now. Hopefully this one will work. Oh, and Kristen and I just posted a new update tonight!!

haha !! Go back and look at the time I posted on yours!! I was reading yours and commenting at the same time you were here. Funny when that happens!!

GOSH, I sure hope round #2 works for you!! It's sure no fun being sick!

I happended to have ONE round of antibiotics left that I had brought back, and had to start my youngest on it. Her throat had white puss on it, and she's not been feeling well for a couple weeks. Of course I just took her to the doctor and spent $20, and with no pus, no help. Another time I wish I was back in the place of easy self-care. Sometimes that was so nice.

Hi Liesa! I know what's coming, so :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

It!s funny that they have descriptions in English at Frankfurt airport bakerys, I never noticed that, and no Butterkuchen?

I've never had to use a barf bag on a plane. :scared1: I'd probably panic though and not be able to find it!

The pastry looks so yummy. I can't imagine though ordering caviar at an airport. :upsidedow

Caviar at an airport?! Who knew! Too bad the choices were slim. That bun doesn't look all the appetizing but I guess you'll eat anything when you're STARVING.

Heard about the cavity results on FB. That's great news! As long as the cavities aren't big, I'm impressed after three years of not seeing a dentist. In my case, three years not seeing a dentist would probably equal a root canal.

Hi Liesa! What a strange combination of really bad fast food and caviar at the Kazakhstan airport - but I noticed that nearly every European airport has a "Caviar Hopuse" shop. :confused3 I think it must be one of those things that rich business men bring back from their travels to their wifes. I always think it is a bit sad... ;)

I am cringing at the thought of how this will continue. Just as Katharina, I know the facts, but I wonder what it will sound like told by you on the TR!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I think the Johannisbeer Streusel looks best to me! :thumbsup2
