The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

As Mikki was driving herself and Zach to Rebekah and Nathan's place for a game night, Zach became very confused and asked," What was that?"

She asked him what and he said, "Oh nothing."

They continued on for another 5 minutes listening to music when Zach mumbled, "Where are we?!" "What are we doing?" That was right by their house.

I guess he may have been "out" for all that time without Mikki noticing. He stumbled into the house and could not form words or answer questions for about another 5 minutes. Rebekah, my nurse daughter took his vitals and his BP was a bit high, but not really awful. He was crying, dizzy, and very confused.

We were working out and got a frantic call. We told them to take him to he ED, and we'd meet them there in 1/2 an hour.

Looks like it was some sort of seizure, but we'll need to follow up with a neuro consult, an MRI, and all that.

Meanwhile back at the Ranch....

...it's always a rodeo. Goats included.

Just stopping by to play some quick catch up once again. I like your unique game idea. I'll have to come back when I get a chance to play.

Congratulations on the new career! I've come to appreciate those nurses who go above and beyond. They can really make a bigger difference than they'll ever know. I'm fully confident that you'll be one of those kinds of nurses.

That's a really scary situation with Zach! I hope everything is ok!

Looks like it was some sort of seizure, but we'll need to follow up with a neuro consult, an MRI, and all that.

Scary. Nothing like that squeemy feeling in the pit of your stomach when you don't know what is wrong with your child. His symptoms sound like my daughters when she had her bad concussion. Couldn't remember what she was doing, couldn't complete a sentence, couldn't tell me her birthday or walk in anything resembling a straight line. Shoot she couldn't even get out of my car to go into the ER or exactly how she hit her head. I had to piece things together with her ramblings.

I am happy to hear he was OK enough to go home but will be sending hope your way for nothing to serious.

You would NOT believe what I am eating RIGHT NOW....!!!

Poutine! Salem- style!!!

No way!!! So what did you think?
(And I'll ignore the fact that there are too many things wrong with it to make it a real poutine...)

I had to have injections in my wrists and hip due to RA flare up so haven't felt much like typing.

Ouch. Hope you're feeling better! :)

See?! It's a park that offers incredible entertainment packages!

::yes:: And one that I may skip entirely in September (If we go... still nothing booked.)

Good, now I have one.

Can I borrow it?

And these are the things that make a Disney trip a "slow down and smell the roses" kind of trip. Not necessarily less stuff to do, just stuff off the beaten path.

::yes:: I would not be a bit surprised if we do no more than... oh... 1 ride.
That's assuming I can FP+ Soarin'.
Otherwise... might not go on any rides at all.

But I get the late night stuff with littler ones. Can't burn the candle at both ends.

Yep.

Best stick to poutine... ;)

.... you could remedy that....

Nothing that a lottery win couldn't fix.
(And one never knows....)

"But kind Sir, I DID pay nearly the cost of an annual pass to have you sommelier me something that will fit my tastes, preferences and letters."

You really want to see that snooty upturned nose expression, don't you?

"Uhhh, the same reason you'd put an olive in a martini. Or a diaper on a baby. It's just a good idea."

I don't put olives in martinis.
And I'm all done with babies so I don't care what they do with them too!

I didn't say they have to be legal or responsible. Just good.

Good for me. Check. I can live with that.

SEE! I DO have some good ideas once in a while.

Always!

My 21 year old made it tonight for a BBQ on our beach; it was amazing!

I saw that picture. Looked like such a great time!

Well, I have come to my decision

Congrats, Liesa!
I have no way of knowing.... but I have this weird feeling that you picked the right one.

For all of you who've supported me during the last years leading up to this, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! You are an amazing encouragement!!

We are, aren't we?

But I'll bet you remember what you ate today.

Yes. Too much. Buffets will do that.

Why thank you. It took a while to develop. I mean I could have gotten a nursing degree in the amount of time that took....

You're never one to doubt me!

Ya got that right!

Somehow, I have a feeling you are working another one tonight.

I don't remember. I might have. But I think when I wrote that, I was already on my second one.

I KNEW I should have put in that darned parenthetical clause- "except the ever-faithful ponzi"

::yes::

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go make some pathetically inept guesses at your contest...

Saw that (sans details) on FB. Hope he's doing okay?

Great news on the job front! Sounds like a great choice.

Thanks, Glenn! I think it will be a really wonderful fit. My boss seems very nice and already very, very helpful!

Congratulations on your first real nursing job! I think it sounds really great, as you say working as a team on your first job is a good thing. And those additional qualifications might be useful in the future, too.

Thank you, Magdalene! It's super exciting! I just got off the phone with HR at the Hospice place, and she was completely understanding but disappointed too. She DEFINITELY left the door open for a few years from now if I wanted to come back to try again after Anara is out of school.

Michael's mother was a nurse and after she retired she actually went back into nursing and became a hospice nurse. She did it part time and really liked her job. So, I think there still will be plenty of time for you to try out being a hospice nurse at a different point in your professional life!

Definitely a good place to spend the latter years of your working life. It's VERY possible I end up there in a few years.

Congrats on receiving and accepting an offer!

Thanks, Lessa!! I'm ready for another steep learning curve.

Congrats! This does sound like a better fit for you, now that you have the full description. Hospice sounds a lot harder, emotionally, too, tbh. Cool that you can keep both per diem jobs for now, too.

It would have been more hours, more having to make independent decisions, and yeah, more emotional investment.

'm going to have to go back and find the contest stuff - pages and pages ago, at the rate I'm going! But thanks for the hints, lol.

There will be more hints coming.... ;)

Here are my attempts at Queen Steppe's Contest!

20 – Why yes, that Ambien will get put to good use
Total: 50

ADRS:
I’ll say you go to 10 of the 11 ADRs – 50 points

Yes, you will get 6 challenge drinks: 60 points
3 souvie mugs: 30 points
Total: 90 points

Shop Around the World Tour:
I think you can do it! 85 points!

25 Hidden Mickey points

40 Miscellaneous Points (can’t do the other ones until later)

Grand total: 410 (if I added everything correctly!)

All noted.... feel free to make changes as you feel fit. :)

Congratulations! I think you will be very pleased with your choice!

I think so too; I haven't even started and I really like my boss!

Hey! Aren't we already being punished enough??? :confused3 :rolleyes1

It's a punishment to go with me?

Never underestimate Rosie's ability to embarrass herself...... :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I wonder if she could learn to walk in men's restrooms...?

Congratulations on your job, and by the way....Speaking of contests, thereis a certain one on my TR that might be closing up soon. I may be away, but my next update was ready to go long before I left. We have Internet access now and it will only take five minutes of my time, so time is ticking!

.... and that was SO high up on my list yesterday. Gosh darn ED visit. :( Then today, I ended up studying with Zach for his driver's permit test, making more jam, studying myself and doing a veritable crap-ton of laundry. I am soooo behind again.

First :dogdance::dogdance::dogdance: congrats on the job offer! As someone who's spent my share in post and pre-op a friendly sympathetic competent person is exactly the person you're looking for!

Awww, you're sweet Tanya! I hope to be one that is safe and goes above and beyond!! I have a lot to learn at this new job, but ready to start!

Second... What page, chapter will I find your reservations? I'm trying to plan our trip and can't remember dates and times I was joining the liesa RN party. And third (or 2d part B) I may want to add my son to the via Napoli festivities.... But need to see where everything else is going to play out first.

See the PM I sent... I'll add you and Ryne (sp?) to whatever ADRs you want!

:yay::dogdance:Look who got a job offer!! There never was a doubt something good would find you. The details you give really do sound like a good fit for you.
The variety of things you could do/learn and co-workers along with you would be nice. Also anything that make it easy for the family regarding scheduling and hours is a vote for a yes.
So happy for you!

YAY ME!! :) I think it will be great while my last 2 are still at home. They still need their Mama, and I owe it to them to be there. It will give me good opportunity to do a LOT of skills and learn my meds before I take a job that requires so much independence. A good fit for right now.

Will have to look at that contest info again before I even could try to answer.

Standing by...

Ok, my brain officially hurts now... but here goes it....

Your Majesty::worship:

Look! Proper deference to her Queen!

I am glad you feel good about the decision you made. My sister does Home care and all though she loves it, it is very hard on her. My nephew is only 13 and she is a single mom so she puts in A LOT of overtime and on call hours. She say's it is to hard to resist the on call pay, but on the same hand, it runs her down very quickly when she gets called out all the time.

It was hard to call Hospice today to say I'd found something else, but it does feel right... The long hours and overtime at hospice would have been hard right now.

Just a drive by but congrats on the job decision. It sounds great and it must be a load off to have it done and not think about anymore. Sounds like you will have lots to keep you busy but it's all very exciting!!

Thanks, Kathy!! I am also glad I got the other call out of the way. That was a hard one to make...

Well, maybe not page :rolleyes1 but I thought maybe from your chapter titles you might have known.
I know I "signed up" for the Flying Fish/Captains Grille dinner and Via Napoli and I think I have the right days (Friday and Sunday?) but I wasn't sure on the times.
Hubby is going on a solo trip in August so he's had me booking his fast passes and a meal or two. That's triggered my "need" to plan mine and Rynes trip...:teeth:

All the times should be on the spreadsheet I sent. :)
