The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

That is funny!! However, do you know that they added a new ice cream shop into the building that used to be the arcade for the ESPN club?? I hope ice cream is not as much a temptation for her as fudge? I hope you enjoy the Boardwalk, it is one of my two home resorts!

Well you can only buy as much Ice Cream as you can eat right away. You can't take the Ice Cream home with you and eat it for another week!

Don't mind me.... Just driving back from the Coast while y'all yak it up in my living room. ;) The fish tacos were delicious by the way.

Yes, Brook posted something on my wall today; I'll check it out, and yes, I've already emailed her about a ressie.

Working tomorrow, a visit to Oregon State's campus Wednesday, Group Project on Thursday...., maybe DISsing all day Friday.

So while you all are enjoying life with each other in the virtual realms, I made the most fabulous Indian Korma EVER last night- sorry, there weren't any leftovers for you.

I am also selfish as I would love to hear everyone's feedback on the new Flying Fish to determine if Michael and I want to eat there later this year.
Hopefully we will let you know firsthand. this is one I looked forward to doing again when Liesa had it on her list! :thumbsup2

Me too! It sounds like a Victorian themed version of Trader Sam's. And since Liesa will miss out on the Edison (opening in spring 2017), this might be a good other option for her drinking needs. :thumbsup2
Oh, I don't think Liesa will lack for options to fulfill her drinking needs............ :rotfl: We already have plenty of places on the list! ::yes::

I'm already trying to figure out where to fit it in on our October trip. But even better they took out the Candy shop! Fran told me we could never stay at the Boardwalk again because she couldn't bear to pass the fudge shop every time we went to Epcot. Temptation removed! Now we're going to stay at the Boardwalk in March!
It's all a matter of perspective. For some news is bad, for others..... :woohoo:  :dancer: :jumping1: party:

Hey, pipe down. We're trying to talk here.

The fish tacos were delicious by the way.

Oh, goody! I've never had fish tacos. How long until you get here?

So while you all are enjoying life with each other in the virtual realms, I made the most fabulous Indian Korma EVER last night- sorry, there weren't any leftovers for you.

Well that was rude. I made meatloaf tonight. It was delicious. I saved you some.

Thank you, Sweet Rosie for the bump! Tomorrow I have a few things school-wise I have to do, but after that, the whole day is devoted to DISsing with gardening breaks interspersed. (Bought my tomato and pepper starts- gotta get them in!)

Pretty stoked I can hang out here tomorrow, but first a good, long sleep! Been a very long couple of weeks. Still no word on the job, and it is S.T.R.E.S.S.F.U.L!! It's killing me waiting to hear whether or not I got it or will have to "pound the pavement" some more.

Have a great morning, All. See you soon...

Seems I have a lot of catching up to do around here. More than I can do today, after taking ALL DAY to catch up everywhere else. I would like to write a little update as well as reply to all of your lovely (and lively) banter.

H is for Have Costume, Will Party

Alright. Looks like everyone's abandoned ship here, at least temporarily- it'll take some tender loving care to resurrect this thread and wake the dead.

But I have something super, uberty (that's like puberty, but without the 'P') awesome and cool to share!

Seriously, what would be the point of going to a Halloween Party without a costume to wear? I mean isn't that part of the point? For YEARS now, I've waited to finally be able to get to go to the Happiest Halloween Party on Earth. It has to be; it's got spark-making shovel diggers, a Headless Horseman, unlimited candy, pyrotechnics, and it's all happening at a Magical Kingdom, right? I've seen some of the costumes- they are elaborate, adding to the fun and entertainment value. Well, maybe "value" isn't the right word. There's nothing "value" about this event. At nearly $85 a ticket this year, it had BETTER deliver.

I have a philosophy in life. Generally, things are what you make them. The more you pour into something, the more you will generally get out of it. Yes, for the most part, you get what you pay for. But a corollary to that is you can supersize a lot of what you are given by inserting some effort of your own, and the more effort you put into it, the more you'll milk the experience. Take schooling for example: You can pay for your degree which gives you instruction and facilities and all that, but if you actually STUDY, take the extra time to truly learn the material, etc... you will get a MUCH better education, no?

Now, apply this to a not very scary, but oh so super fun Mickey party. Wouldn't it be a shame to go and not really put any effort in at all, and therefore not really get ALL the fun out of it you could? I mean, Disney only lets its adult guests dress up ONCE A YEAR!!! Doesn't it make sense to go all out and at least do something in the form of a costume?

Yes, yes, one should!! So I am. I'll bet you're DYING to see what came in the mail today. I about died waiting for it. (And I may still yet die waiting to hear about whether I got the job at the hospital or not.) You are simply going to love my get up!

First, it would be criminal of me to not pay a little homage to my new profession. So, as I've mentioned before, the no-brainer costume for me is nursing scrubs with a dash of glam. This beauty of a scrub top is something I wear pretty often to work and get gobs of complements on. It's the obvious choice. According to The View, the stethoscope is just a prop and toy, but some of us know better than that. Believe it or not, a nurse actually knows how to use one. ;)

I'll likely wear red bottoms because they will 1) Look like Minnie and 2) Match really nicely with....

THIS!!!!!

Yep, had me a custom Minnie ears made from an Etsy retailer and I am perfectly in love with it!! I'll have to pin them in a bit, but they are so, SO perfect for my costume. Probably just going to wear some black tennies instead of my Danskos, which are pretty comfortable, but not quite as much as a good pair of sneakers. Anyway, yes, I'll put some other accessories on like a hemastat and tape, my namebadge, etc... but there it is: the costume that has had 3 1/2 years of blood, sweat, tears, poop, pee, and vomit put into it. Quite possibly the one that's been worked harder for of any other there. ;)

But that wasn't the only really awesome package that arrived in the mail. Nope, there were actually 2 more!!

The first was from Pat and Marv. They said that they had actually had it since last Fall, but were afraid to send it to me after I scared the crap out of everyone, most of all ME!, with that silly math debacle. But now, Nurse Minnie is safe in her new home, where an almost-graduated RN can take good care of her. Thank you, Pat and Marv; I really like her a lot and promise to make her proud!

The second little package arrived not long after. Tanya sent this little piece of niceness:

I'm thinking that I'm going to adhere it to my dashboard for a while so I can continually be reminded that SCHOOL IS ALMOST DONE!!! WOOOOHOOOOO! Thank you Tanya ( @mom3sonstt ) for the thoughtful gift!

Well, that's all I've got for this time around. Next update should have another round of contest questions to keep you all entertained. But for this time around, you can earn 5 bonus points to your score with an H Photo. One per customer please...

Love your ears! They look lovely. But also very uncomfortable. I don't like hair bands like this, they always give me a headache. But you are a nurse, you can just cure your aches!

I hope you love the party. Michael and I decided that we will not go to the Christmas party. Even with the DVC discount it would be $95 for each of us and we just cannot justify spending $200 on an evening at the MK. I think the Halloween Party actually offers more unique things, so I can see the value there more. I am grumpy about the price increase as two years ago we paid $65 each and that just seems crazy!

Love it!!!!! Your ears are so cute. You got the whole outfit going on. I will try to find an H picture....

That is so awesome. Somehow anything under 6 months seems pretty close indeed!! So excited for you!

And now, thanks to a HUGELY busy week with my folks visiting from Kentucky, I'm down to 141 days... just like that! Time is flying!

My notifications in my ticker say that I can make my FiPs in 82 days! Holy cow, how did THAT happen?!

Here's one from a TR chapter I posted just yesterday...

... which I was finally able to read and comment on yesterday. I hope my pix of BoG are half as good as yours!

Either way, you pretty much always get off "early".

Which is a nice way to end the day.

oui, oui, oui, all the way home.

I was going to say "yes" immediately, but...
kids these days seem to go out in pajama pants all the time, so I'm not sure if it counts still.

You've been looking at the People of Walmart page, haven't you?

Actually worked out even better.
While I was at work, Ruby called and said Dad had gotten an earlier flight and was already home.
(Took a cab, I suppose.)

SCORE!

might've been too much.

I wasn't aware there was such as thing. Now, I think I'm convinced.

So... shipping out to Guam. Is that a good thing? (See the world!) or a bad thing? (Conditions suck!)

Nope. Shipped out to Guam. He arrived yesterday and is "settling" in. He says he has a crapload of site specific training to do before he starts his "real" job.

I dunno, you be the judge. ;)

All right! What's that?
It's... it's a... a light... a light at the end of the tunnel...

20 days until Pinning!! Holy Cow! It's so close!

ALL of my pics are G photos. If I ever post a pic, everyone says "Gee, photos! I can't believe he actually posted some!"

And they may have a good point.

My personal fave!!! :thumbsup2

I thought you might like that one, GoofyFan.

They don't seem to have a problem with it........ :faint:

Yes, their quarterly statements seem to agree with you.

 That means we're getting close too! :woohoo:

Indeed!! My ticker says 141 days!

Congrats on being 76.7% sure you're better than 66% to be 90%.

Or something like that.

...something like that. The bottom line is that I"m pretty sure I'll be able to pass first time around.

Hope you had a great birthday! And congratulations on your stay on Cloud 9!

Thanks, Donna!! My birthday was wonderful! :D
