The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

Looks like things are coming together nicely! Fun with family, almost graduation, testing , making it through night shift. Too bad the codes won't cooperate. :upsidedow Enjoy your time with your parents!

Little by little! I have SO much trip planning I want to do, but it'll have to wait until after graduation. Just too much to do with school still... but the time with family was super fun.

Dang codes...

Ditto. That's all I got time for. bye

I miss you.

Hope you're having a good time with your family!

I had a simply wonderful time. We did a ton of fun things, and I love their company. The time with them always goes too fast.

Just keepin'up !! Man this week went fast!!

It sure did, Rosie! Every time I say it's gonna slow down, it gets busy again.

Sorry that didn't work out but don't lose hope yet. Keep checking.

I definitely will. Me or Brook anyways. You never know.

I heard out in 10 min. But then again, I am not surprised by that. It is always a tease when the codes come out.

10 minutes!? That stinks for the people who live in further away zip codes who don't get their mail as fast.

I don't whether to be :scared1: or :earseek: or :rotfl2:.

Now that you've seen it, whatcha think? LOL!

Awesome - You will do well. I am sure of that.

I'm hoping so! Taking it twice sounds like a major bummer.

Just popping in so I know where I am up to !!!
G is for Gorilla!!

That mama has a tight grip on baby's leg!

Liesa, did you see this: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...-name-new-chef-new-cocktail-lounge-next-door/

Info about the new Flying Fish! It does sound wonderful - especially the bar they are adding!

I did! Brook posted it my FB wall! I am so, SO excited to try it out. The new lounge sounds amazing!

Oh nice catch Magdalene! Sounds very interesting and hopefully it opens on schedule so we can try it out....as long as Brook can channel some of that vanished conjurer's AbracadaBar magic and secure us an acceptable ADR. pixiedust:

I really like the idea of the AbracadaBar!

It sounds really fun and very unique in theming- strangely a lot like the idea behind the Edison, in fact. Mytique, a little edgy, and adult-y, but not so much that it's trashy or tacky. In a way, it reminds me of the Professor in Wizard of Oz. I really intrigued and will be happy to write a good report for y'all.

:rotfl2:Yes, I think it sounds promising, too. If they are publishing a blog post now talking about opening in late summer, I would think that they are along enough to know that they can keep this date. Disney has strange definitions of the seasons sometimes (like that DVC lounge in Epcot that is supposed to open in spring and still isn't open), but I think even with Disney's stretchy definitions, early October is AFTER late summer! I am also selfish as I would love to hear everyone's feedback on the new Flying Fish to determine if Michael and I want to eat there later this year.

Yes, you KNOW a good, thorough review will be coming your way. I'm really excited to try this, Trader Sam's, and Jock Lindsays. A good comparison of these 3 is in tall order. Yes, I will miss the Edison, and that it disappointing, but oh well... next time.

Me too! It sounds like a Victorian themed version of Trader Sam's. And since Liesa will miss out on the Edison (opening in spring 2017), this might be a good other option for her drinking needs. :thumbsup2

I'm already trying to figure out where to fit it in on our October trip. But even better they took out the Candy shop! Fran told me we could never stay at the Boardwalk again because she couldn't bear to pass the fudge shop every time we went to Epcot. Temptation removed! Now we're going to stay at the Boardwalk in March!

Yay, a stay at Boardwalk. After I cross AKL off my bucket list, that's the next place on the docket as far as Deluxes go. I definitely don't have a sweet tooth, so not a temptation, but glad Fran won't have to struggle with a hankering. LOL!!

That is funny!! However, do you know that they added a new ice cream shop into the building that used to be the arcade for the ESPN club?? I hope ice cream is not as much a temptation for her as fudge? I hope you enjoy the Boardwalk, it is one of my two home resorts!

Uh oh.... HAHAHA!

Well you can only buy as much Ice Cream as you can eat right away. You can't take the Ice Cream home with you and eat it for another week!

The voice of reason.

Fish tacos...yum...

The yummy kind with halibut and cabbage slaw.

Hopefully we will let you know firsthand. this is one I looked forward to doing again when Liesa had it on her list! :thumbsup2

WOOT! Lucky us! New menu too...

Oh, I don't think Liesa will lack for options to fulfill her drinking needs............ :rotfl: We already have plenty of places on the list! ::yes::

The list is long and now longer. Oh boy, this is gonna be fun!

It's all a matter of perspective. For some news is bad, for others..... :woohoo:  :dancer: :jumping1: party:

Is that a Graduation Party I see up there?

Hey, pipe down. We're trying to talk here.

Shhhh, sorry.

Oh, goody! I've never had fish tacos. How long until you get here?

I'm not. The meatloaf's bad now.

Well that was rude. I made meatloaf tonight. It was delicious. I saved you some.

But then you ate for lunch the next day. Didn't you? Before you even told me.

Excellent - I fully approve of any way to add sparkles! And I love my Dansko's too - I just think they'd be a bit hot for the Florida outdoor temps. I was tempted to take them on my last trip, but runners were cooler, although not cooler looking, according to my kids, who think I should cripple myself by wearing flip flops everywhere.

Bling is where it's at! Not many occasions one can add sparkle and be appropriate.

Yes, and they can be ankle rollers. I do fine on a flat surface at work, but add in train tracks and curbs and I might end up with some handsome Reedy Creekers standing over me.

Hey wait...!

Plus it's extra to pack; not ok.

Flip flops?! No way! They're great for once in a while, but all the time? No thank you.

Very good use of 'H'!

Love your ears! They look lovely. But also very uncomfortable. I don't like hair bands like this, they always give me a headache. But you are a nurse, you can just cure your aches!

I think for a short time they'll be ok. Not an everyday accessory, but good for the occasional night out at Disney. Tylenol may be my best friend that night.

I hope you love the party. Michael and I decided that we will not go to the Christmas party. Even with the DVC discount it would be $95 for each of us and we just cannot justify spending $200 on an evening at the MK. I think the Halloween Party actually offers more unique things, so I can see the value there more. I am grumpy about the price increase as two years ago we paid $65 each and that just seems crazy!

I don't blame you one bit! Especially since you've been before. The price hike ought to filter out the crowds some, but still, that's a LOT of money for a few short hours.

I love the custom Minnie ears!

I totally agree with your philosophy that you get what you put into something.

Thanks, Lessa! I think they're super cute.

Good things come to those who... work hard. Maybe wait too, but mostly work hard.

Love your Mickey Ears!!!!

Thanks! I'm glad I found them and had time to order!

Love it!!!!! Your ears are so cute. You got the whole outfit going on. I will try to find an H picture....

I think it'll all come together and will give it a test run here in a few weeks.

Seriously, what would be the point of going to a Halloween Party without a costume to wear? I mean isn't that part of the point?
Don't know about the point of it.........but I've done it that way. :rolleyes1

For YEARS now, I've waited to finally be able to get to go to the Happiest Halloween Party on Earth. It has to be; it's got spark-making shovel diggers, a Headless Horseman, unlimited candy, pyrotechnics, and it's all happening at a Magical Kingdom, right?

You mean THESE guys?
309.JPG

And this guy?
290.JPG

I mean, Disney only lets its adult guests dress up ONCE A YEAR!!! Doesn't it make sense to go all out and at least do something in the form of a costume?
I definitely saw some interesting costumes........some a little more "adult" than others........ I wasn't quick enough to get some of them in pictures, but I probably wouldn't post them here even if I had! :scared:

According to The View, the stethoscope is just a prop and toy, but some of us know better than that. Believe it or not, a nurse actually knows how to use one. ;)
As much as those things cost, I hope you are planning to use a prop/toy for your costume at least! :rolleyes2

THIS!!!!!

Now that's really cool. :cool1: I especially like the heartbeat/Mickey Head part! :thumbsup2

The first was from Pat and Marv. They said that they had actually had it since last Fall, but were afraid to send it to me after I scared the crap out of everyone, most of all ME!, with that silly math debacle. But now, Nurse Minnie is safe in her new home, where an almost-graduated RN can take good care of her. Thank you, Pat and Marv; I really like her a lot and promise to make her proud!
Yeah, don't SCARE us like that again!!! :rotfl2:

The second little package arrived not long after. Tanya sent this little piece of niceness:

Nice job Tanya!!! :cheer2:

Well, how much fun the party is depends on who you are enjoying it with! :rolleyes1 But Pat and I agree.....been there, done that and the price increase sure doesn't make us excited to do it again, at least any time soon! :sad2:

Alright. Looks like everyone's abandoned ship here, at least temporarily

I abandoned everyone's ship. Including my own.

it'll take some tender loving care to resurrect this thread and wake the dead.

Or just your regular excellent writing.

But I have something super, uberty (that's like puberty, but without the 'P') awesome and cool to share!

Wait, lemme get this straight.
You're saying going through puberty while not being able to p is awesome and cool???

Huh. I would think it'd be awkward and possibly painful.

Seriously, what would be the point of going to a Halloween Party without a costume to wear?

::yes::

I mean isn't that part of the point?

::yes::::yes::

It has to be; it's got spark-making shovel diggers, a Headless Horseman, unlimited candy, pyrotechnics, and it's all happening at a Magical Kingdom, right?

Right! Best ever.

There's nothing "value" about this event. At nearly $85 a ticket this year, it had BETTER deliver.

IMHO... it does!

I have a philosophy in life. Generally, things are what you make them.

That's the right attitude. If you go in thinking you better get your money's worth, then... well.... you probably won't.

Take schooling for example: You can pay for your degree which gives you instruction and facilities and all that, but if you actually STUDY, take the extra time to truly learn the material, etc... you will get a MUCH better education, no?

But... but.... that would mean.... work!

I mean, Disney only lets its adult guests dress up ONCE A YEAR!!!

Well, you could go to more than one MNSSHP... technically.

Doesn't it make sense to go all out and at least do something in the form of a costume?

::yes::

I'll bet you're DYING to see what came in the mail today.

yes!!

First, it would be criminal of me to not pay a little homage to my new profession. So, as I've mentioned before, the no-brainer costume for me is nursing scrubs with a dash of glam.

Yep. Makes total sense. And I really like it.

According to The View, the stethoscope is just a prop and toy,

I don't watch the view, but... is it run be incredibly stupid people?

THIS!!!!!

 That's perfect!!!!

Anyway, yes, I'll put some other accessories on like a hemastat and tape, my namebadge, etc...

Really liking this.

the costume that has had 3 1/2 years of blood, sweat, tears, poop, pee, and vomit put into it.

And that makes it just so much more worth it, no?

But that wasn't the only really awesome package that arrived in the mail. Nope, there were actually 2 more!!

That's really nice!

Love your costume! I can't believe you are so close to being done!

Jill in CO

Adorable! Perfect for your trip, and it wouldn't surprise me if you manage to find some sort of occasion to wear them again.

H is for Hats and a Hoodie...

ETA: I guess there are actually 2 hoodies in the photo - I've got both a hat *and* a hoodie!

You all make my heart smile. Had a long shift at work last night with a patient complication and a miscounted narc drawer- that's a big deal. My license flashed before my eyes. Luckily, the bottle was found, but I lost a night of sleep over those 4 missing pills. OY!

Hoping to spend the evening here after a little soiree in the kitchen cooking dinner and eating- edgy I know... me and that Stroganoff. ;) It's a love affair, what can I say?

I've been pushing the refresh button on my email ALL DAY LONG. Several of my cohort heard back from the hospital today and got job offers. Nothing for me yet.... I'm losing hope. Maybe tomorrow....

Whew! Four pills! Too bad we don't live any closer, with Fran's arthritis, we probably have whatever you would have needed to even out your drawer! :lmao:

And here I'm just going to reheat Mac n cheese from yesterday and make Tuna melts.

I'm sure you will hear soon. Perhaps all the various departments are fighting over who gets you!

Ok, now I"m seriously in the dumps. It's just really turned into a crappy day. Some days are great, mountain top days, and others are like today.

Mike just got off the phone with his dad and his dad invited he and his 2 sisters to....

KEY WEST

all expenses paid in November.

Ummmmmm.... freaking never mind the fact, that OUR trip was already booked and paid for.

Now Mike is pretty sure we should dump the Keys part and just plan out Guam trip for a year out. We really needed a 2nd Honeymoon. I won't go into any personal drama, but we really kinda needed this trip. In a lot of ways.

My knee jerk reaction is to get huffy and just plan a Girls' Trip to Cabo or WDW and forget it. (I really wanted to visit the Keys.) I dunno.

I'm going to eat Stroganoff now.

Wow. That sucks. Glad you found them!

Hang in there.
And if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be.
Maybe something even better will come along.

Sorry, I'm missing something here.
Did his Dad not know you guys were going in October or something? Did he forget? Does he not know that you've already booked and paid for everything?
