The 51st anniversary is today

Buddy Holly was so influential, you gotta wonder what direction music might have taken had he lived.

So sad. Buddy Holly is DDs favourite musician (funny, I did not know much about him when I was a kid), and I agree that even his short career had such an influence that it could have been so much more. I think Ritchie Valens had a lot of potential too.:sad1:

I though tod him today. The Big Bopper was on the radio and I kept thinking of that plane crash :sad1:

wow... I remember seeing La Bamba in the theater with my mom and sister and my mom was really crying. At the time I remember being sad, but not really understanding why my mom was so upset. She told us the story on the way home in the car and how sad she and my aunt were when they heard the news. :sad1:

Did you know that the Surf Ballroom, in Clear Lake, Iowa, is still in operation?

They had a big Winter Dance Party last year, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the crash, and the last concert for Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper.

Wow, that is really interesting. Thanks for sharing the information and link.

You're welcome.

I would love to visit there someday, but we never seem to find the time.
