The 4th and 8th days--could this be improved?

Anyone else think the trash and towel/cleaning service days might make more sense if the day they were given corresponded to the length of your stay and not necessarily on the 4th and 8th days?

For example, we are staying four nights at BWV and our reservations states that on day four we will receive a trash and towel service. Well, we check out the very next morning. Wouldn't it make more sense, since we get one service, to put that trash and towel service mid-stay, like at day 2 or 3 when we will need it and be able to enjoy it more?

I think it would be great if they scheduled your services according to the length of your stay and let you pick the day you want those services. Or, if it couldn't be that flexible, at least provide the service at mid-stay.
 
I believe you can request a change in your T/T day. You need to do this when you check in. I know we often stay for 5 nights, and having it done the day before we go also does not make sense.
 
I think that's a great idea! We usually stay for 10 days, and it's always seemed silly to me to have a full cleaning on day 8. I'd rather skip T&T day and just have a full cleaning on day 5. I think I'll ask, next time, whether that's possible.
 
It is tied to the length of your stay. And they have changed it around as it was previously where you got the T/T on day 4 and the full cleaning on day 8. They need a system and this one makes sense given the number of days required to qualify for each one. The obvious alternative would be to eliminate the T/T totally for a 4 day stay.
 

We've requested that they move around T&T and full cleaning days and housekeeping has been very flexible with us.
 
We usually get the full cleaning on day 4 and T&T on day 8. Sometimes they mess up and we get two. Last year, we had T&T two days in a row! Never did quite figure that one out!

I agree, Dean. Many timeshares have nothing like trash and towel, so we are fortunate.

Just a word in regards to my offsite timeshare (Vistana). It's not a point-based system unless you're a new owner and bought into the Starwood points system. But, I own 7 nights floating prime time. If I stay 7 consecutive nights I get a midweek T&T which includes housekeeping running the dishwasher and vacuuming the carpets also. But I also have the option to split my 7 nights over the course of a year (i.e. 5/2, 4/3 or 2/2/3). If I opt for any of the split options (which I have in the past on occasion), I get no T&T and have to pay a $45 fee on top of it. Now that really stinks.
But I agree about adjusting the T&T to the length of stay. I've never requested this before. Is there an additional fee for doing this ? Sounds like there isn't ?

And most timeshares in the US have NO cleaning at all during the week unless for an extra charge. In places like MX, they tend to have daily maid service with full cleaning.

I've heard this Dean and I feel very fortunate with the Vistana (and DVC). It's just that $45 fee when I split up my nights with Vistana that gets me---and no T&T to boot.

We usually stay 6 nights, I have switched our T & T to day 3 or 5 with no problem (depends on when I wash towels).

The dates for Trash & Towel and Full Cleaning service are listed on the confirmation letter. At least they have been on mine.

If the dates listed don't make sense for us, I just request to have them changed when I check in. It's never been a problem and there's never been a fee.
 
Having stayed in Villas, I was very impressed that DVC cleaning fees are incorporated into our dues and not charged per stay. Most don't realize that because of the point system, a member could stay in a different room every night (which would require a full cleaning upon checkout) and not incur additional fees. I think not having the extra fee promotes shorter stays and adds to the flexibility of the program.

Most timeshares and management companies charge a cleaning fee for stays of less than 7 nights.

Most timeshares have a fee when you split it in any way. Whether it's a 2 BR into a 1 BR plus a studio or a split week. Marriott has it also and no cleaning unless you pay full price.
 
That is my one pet peeve about DVC. I can't tell you how often we end up with a full cleaning scheduled one or two days before we check out. It is such a waste. While others don't seem to have a problem changing the dates of T/T or their F/C, we have NEVER been successful with this. It has always been screwed up. They either forget altogether or we end up with extra cleanings that we don't need or we get two full cleanings instead of T/T. It has almost become comical each stay to see how it will turn out. I think we decided on our last trip that we are just going to cancel all of it and see what happens. I vacuum and clean anyway and we always take out our trash and wash towels daily so we don't need it anyway.

Yes, that's what we've done. Though we don't do it at check in. We called housekeeping and asked them directly.

Lisa...sorry to hear that...I guess we've been lucky as we've done this twice with no problems yet.
