The 4hr or 7hr backstage tour - which is best?

Hi!

I'm planning to give my DH a WDW tour ticket for Xmas. I'm trying to decide between the Backstage Magic and the other one (can't think of the name now). One is just for MK for 4 hours and the other is for various parks for the whole day. Cost is about $50 for one and $199 for the other.

If anyone has tried these, I'd love a recommendation. We'll be there the first week of February. Also, when should I purchase the ticket?

We've done Keys to the Kingdom (which took closer to 5 hr with lunch at Columbia House) and Behind the Scene at World Showcase. I thoroughly enjoyed the KTTK with our exceptionally knowledgeable CM Rae.

Everything I've read about the longer Backstage Tour says it's wonderful--and then there's lunch at MGM.

I booked the tours over the phone at 407 WDW PLAY ahead of time, and used my DC for a discount. There's an AP discount too.
In August at MK there were tours beginning at 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30 am.

If you don't mind the price, than do the Backstage Magic Tour.
It is great and why settle for just the MK, when you can tour the MK, Epcot, & MGM. Lunch is at Momma Melrose and the food is delicious.

I just booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour for January, and am very excited! There is a discount for triple AAA members (if you booked through Triple AAA)..I was asked for my confirmation number which I did not have, but the CM on the phone was nice enough to try and look it up in the computer for me...she luckily found it, and my cost for two of us taking the tour was $98!

We took the 4-5 hour KTTK tour and loved it. It made me wonder if we'd want a seven hour tour though.

KTTK is good but Backstage Magic is even better. I loved them both.
