Thanks for the info about the iHome and the 1 BR at BCV, everyone, and welcome back, Teena!

Now, here's my disclaimer upfront: I hate, loathe and absolutely abhor snakes of any shape and size...I'm a screamer when I see them...and I do realize that I'm in FL, and critters go with the territory....BUT...reading the snake in the room thread has me a bit freaked...

SO, Teena, in all honesty, since you are at BC more than any of us...exactly how common are sightings of these things there? One poster talked about chasing a black snake into SAB????? And another's son was bit by a water moccasin!!! Minor freak out here, and the left brain IS taking reason to my right brain, but still... :scared1:

Not Teena but I just wanted to tell you that the poster whose son was bitten by the snake was staying at CBR not BC.

I also have a terrible fear of snakes. We've seen them three different times - once at AK in Dinoland, once at MK on the bridge at Tom Sawyer's Island and once at BC on the sidewalk between the quiet pool and the beach. Our friends saw two at the Poly. Honestly they are probably at every park and every resort but thankfully don't come out that much. I just wouldn't put my hands or walk through any foliage ANYWHERE in Florida!

Also not Teena (welcome back Teena!), but I for what it is worth, I have been to YB/BC/BCV many, many trips and have never seen a snake, and I'm one of those looking around for wildlife. We have seen all manner of birds, lots of turtles, rabbits, fish, little lizards, occasional toad. Very few bugs. I'm sure they are there, but I've seen them more often in my backyard in New England. Good luck and I hope you have a snake free trip.:thumbsup2

Glad you had a lovely trip Teena. 13 weeks today we start our journey to the beach club (it'll be monday tea-time before we arrive though). I look forward to saying Hi:)

Have a wonderful BC vacation!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

shmatbert, thank you for the kind words.:goodvibes

Teena, we are considering a Disney cruise. It would be the first ever for my DH, DS2, DD and I. :boat: I love hearing about your cruises!

I agree. I don't think we have ever seen a snake on our trips, and believe me, my daughter was looking for them (she loves snakes)! Many other things like bunnies and lizards but no snakes. Oh, I wanted to comment about the bugs, there are NEVER any bugs at Disney! We have gone during some of the hottest times of the year too. I mentioned to my husband last year that Disney must have some kind of amazing bug repellent going on! We are from NY and the bugs in the summer are enough to keep you indoors! Yet another reason to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, DISNEY!

Haganfam5 I love your avatar photo and then noticed your etsy and facebook page links. Amazing creations! How incredible that you can sew like that. :earseek:

They have their "proper" names but we also call them the Presidential and Vice Presidential Suite.

The Vice Presidential is my favorite of all the suites at the BC. It's absolutely perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary!!!!!! If I ever got to stay there, I'd only leave the room to run to the lounge to grab food and drink and bring it back to stay in the room or sit on the huge balcony! And the bathroom ... WOW!

What is it about the VP suite that makes it your favorite, if you don't mind my asking? Is it the view? The location? What is the bedding arrangement? Thank you in advance.

I would also love to know, if Teena doesn't mind answering. :goodvibes I've only seen a few old photos of the suites online, and while both look really nice, the Presidential looks so much bigger and maybe a little brighter?

I was hoping to meet you - I mostly lurk, but I have enjoyed your advice. I'm thinking you mentioned you'd be gone for 10 days starting 4/20. So I'll completely miss you.:sad2:

Hoping for an update on the status of the closing of sections of SAB for renovation as listed on the front page. What is the current status of this? We are arriving at BC April 11. My two girls love that pool almost as much as the parks.
TIA!

Hi Everyone! I'm joining this thread because we just booked our trip at the Beach Club, staying 5/11 - 5/19!!!! Just DH and I and we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary!

We have stayed at the BC twice before....and loved it...but not since 1999. I'm glad to be headed back. BCV was not built yet back then so it will be interesting to see how it all works out.

Teena Looking forward to meeting you! Hope you'll be around at some point during our dates.

Was the VP suite the one Samantha Brown highlighted during her Great Hotels show on the Y&B? Because if so, that would be my choice too!!! Just beautiful.

I must go get a new ticker! I'm so excited!!!

Welcome back, Teena- I hope you and your family were spoiled last week! You deserve to be treated as well as you treat all of the Beach Club guests you take care of throughout the year. What a great way to celebrate Jeanne's great accomplishments!

As you can see in my ticker- my boys are in a community theater production of Peter Pan- not the Disney version, though- Nate is a lost boy and Ben is the crocodile. Peter Pan's Flight, already a favorite ride for my family, will take on new heights for us in July.

We look forward to seeing you this summer, if you are not away.

Unless I am not reading all the way down. That was the refurb for 2009. Hopefully there won't be one this year!!

Although we are not a fan of the shorter cruises, since the Magic is leaving us for six months, we may have to think about one of the 5 night double dips to Castaway Cay on the Wonder. August doesn't work for us but maybe one of them in July although I can't imagine how hot the weather is then. We normally only cruise in the spring and fall. Have to really think about it. I'm not sure I can wait until the Magic returns in late September.

I think a double dip would be the only way I would do a shorter cruise. Cannot wait to try the Dream but not in the budget anytime soon.

Welcome home Teena. Your cruise sounds lovely. About how many cruises have you been on? I really want to try DCL sometime but can't seem to tear myself away from the resorts :cutie: You say Spring and Fall are your usual timeframe, do you prefer one over the other. Do seas tend to be calmer in the Spring? (sorry this is a bit OT ;))

Just about 2 months 'til we'll be at the BC

This was my 8th time on the 7 night Disney Magic cruise. I've also cruised on many other lines including some that are now out of business (Big Red Boat and Dolphin's Seabreeze - loved that ship). Others that are still around are Celebrity (my second favorite after Disney), Holland American (not a fan), Norwegian (hated it - if I won a trip from them, I'd tell them to keep it), Royal Caribbean (really like it alot) and a few others. DCL is wonderful for adults only!!

As far as when I like to cruise, I'd have to say my favorite Disney cruise was in early May last year. The weather was just right .. not too hot, the water at Castaway Cay was warm. The water at Castaway Cay in March and early April is cooler ... but if the temperature at the Island is hot, then you don't mind it. September, October and November is nice too but in September and October we had days that were so hot, I didn't even want to do anything but be in air conditioning or be in the water. It was uncomfortably hot walking around the islands shopping or touring.

To answer your question about the Vice Presidential, I just love the bedroom with the huge king bed and the bathroom with the TV in it, etc. The balcony is huge ... you could have 20 people easily on it. The living room is nice too but the bedroom and bath is what's so super ... love the way it is decorated. It also has a powder room (I guess for guests that visit you???) It only sleeps two ... it has a king bed. The sofa isn't a pull out and it's not a daybed either ... the suite is made for only two unlike the other one bedroom suites we have. They sleep three. However, those suites are really nice but nothing as elaborate as the Vice Presidential. They have the same furniture and bathroom as a normal room ... just different because it has a sitting room off the bedroom where the daybed is located. As far as location of the Vice Presidential, the huge balcony faces the courtyard and if you look to the right when you are on the balcony, you see the lake and Boardwalk. If you walk out the back doors in the BC lobby and immediately look up to the fifth floor on the right, that's the Vice Presidential. You would be looking at the long balcony.

Thank you for your thoughts on the suite, Teena. You make it sound wonderful! :goodvibes

To be totally honest, I've only seen one snake there in six years. It was sunning itself by the walkway near the quiet pool. I was taking something to a room and some kids were screaming they saw a snake. I called our animal control people and they came and got it and relocated it away from guest areas. I saw more snakes where we lived in Pennsylvania. I've never seen a snake where I live here in Lake County either. However, a huge turtle that was bigger than a 25 pound dog slowly made it's way through our backyard once. And in all the years I visited WDW before retiring here, I never saw a snake. My husband worked at Blizzard Beach for about 1-1/4 years and he said he saw lots of them there after big storms. If you see a snake, just let a CM know and we'll call animal control and they come and remove it. There are lots of critters around though. Today two ducks walked into the lobby through the backdoors after a wheelchair activated the automatic door. I had to shoo them out and did they ever talk back ... quacking like crazy at me.

Oh my goodness, yes, the Presidential is huge. There is a powder room. It has a foyer area and then to the right is the living room. You walk into and through the living room to the master suite. The bedroom is huge (king bed) and so beautiful and it leads to the HUGE master bath ... again with a TV in it. Then opposite the living room is the formal dining room. It also has an area on the side of the dining room with a separate entrance for the kitchen staff to bring up the food and serve it to you at the formal dining room table ... guess you could have a formal dinner party there. Then you walk through the dining room into the second bedroom. There is one queen and one double bed in there. Then down a hallway to a sitting room with a daybed in it and a normal sized bathroom. So it sleeps 7.

Two answers back I described the Vice Presidential ... it only sleeps two people.

Darn. Maybe we'll pass at the airport on the 20th. I'm flying out at 8 AM on Southwest. I'll be back at work on the May 2nd. I'm flying home on the 29th because it's my husband's birthday.

That was all done in early 2009. See you on the 11th!

I'll see you on Sunday and Monday while you are there. I don't have any trips planned for May. Not sure about Samantha Brown.
