First time poster, long time lurker. First, I want to thank all the active posters on this thread and on these boards. You all are so informative and helpful that reading these posts is as important as buying tickets and making reservations. We are staying at the Villas after the new year and are bringing our infant son for his first visit. Obviously, we will be spending a good bit of time at the resort (which is why we chose the BCV) and in the room; naps, feedings, etc. We will also be using the balcony quite a bit. We each will alternating between caring for the baby and entertaining our daughter. So, I need some advice on articulating a room request that will increase the probability of getting a quiet room location. I understand that one side of the resort is adjacent to a road and another overlooks the "quiet" pool. I'm unclear what boarders the "third" side. Visual aesthetics aren't as important as relative peacefulness for both us and our son. Any help Teena, BCV23, or any other expert can give would be greatly appreciated. Regardless, thanks for all the information on this board.

Welcome to the DIS!:cool1:

I'm not an expert but I'll try to help. I think I would request a quiet villa and trust the room assignors. We've never had a noisy villa but I think I'd avoid most of the first floor as there is more foot traffic there. The road noise has never been a problem for us. You can hear it if you're on the balcony but not from the room. The bigger issue on that side might be the booms from Illuminations....that would depend on your baby of course. We've never heard noise from the pool either although a few people have noted it. Perhaps it is worse in summer. We rarely go to WDW in that season and have not had a pool view when we have.

I'll attach a photo of the Epcot area that a DISer posted. It may help you to understand the different sides but I think the assignors do a great job so I would trust them.:goodvibes

I hope you enjoy BCV. We're headed there after the New Year as well.:cool1: Have a great vacation!:wizard:

TO BCV23.....thanks for the information and the hospitality. I didn't even think about the "BOOM" from the fireworks. That was a great point. I'll take your suggestion and trust the assignors. In looking at the photo you provided, the BCV is in the shape of a "Y". The middle is the quiet pool and the right side is EPCOT. What is the view like on the left side (if you know)? And does the resort consider these "sides" any particular view types? For example, is the right side considered EPCOT view?
Thanks again for your help.

Just wondering - do all the standard rooms in the YC have flat panel tvs now? We stayed club level in August and those rooms did, but maybe staying in a standard room in May and just wondering if all the rooms have been refurbished with flat panel tvs. :confused3

Yes. We just stayed there this month in a standard room and they have flat panel TV's hanging on the wall. The rooms look great too and we had a nice stay at Yacht Club.

We have had villas on the left side of the Y. The view is of a wooded swampy area....very peaceful to me. The villas at the bottom of the Y on that side do not see Illuminations. Those along the top leg of the left side of the Y do.

I don't know what the resort calls the different views. My favorite views on anything on the Epcot side other than first floor. Viewing Illuminations is a bonus to me but I enjoy the trees. As a result, I request Epcot side when possible. Others have reported that you can not request Epcot view but by just saying anything on the Epcot side, I've had good luck.

When we need an accessible 2 BR, we know we will be on the pool side. We enjoy that, too, and have never had noise problems.

I didn't mean to make a big deal about the booms from Illuminations. I think all three of ours would have slept right through them as babies and toddlers. But every child is different.

I think if you ask for a quiet location for a baby, the assignor will know what to do. However, I would try not to worry. BCV is a very peaceful resort in our opinion which is one of our very favorite things about it.

Please come back and let us know about your trip. Have a great vacation!:cool1:

Thanks so much. I thought all of the rooms at the YC were refurbished last year but wasn't sure. It's my little guy's favorite resort (my DH and mine also), and standard rooms there are fine for us! Sometimes we splurge for the club level, but only if a really great rate comes up.

Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Hi! I have been a DVC member and we have stayed at OKW, AKV and SS twice, but we have never been able to get into the BCV until now! We arrive in 16 days and I have a couple of questions:

At other DVC properties there are laundry rooms that are free of charge for DVC members. Is this the case at BCV as well?

Also, the Albatross Cruise? Have anyone's children done this cruise? Was is worth it???

Thanks for any and all information that you can provide!!!

I am doing the happy dance and I am so happy to escape the snow, even if I have to wear jeans in WDW!!!:banana::banana:

I stayed in a BCV studio in October and used the free laundry. I had to ask at the front desk to find it - I can't remember if it was on the second floor or the fourth floor but it was near the main elevators. I'm pretty sure the room had two washers and two dryers.

My kids (and grandkids!) have done the Albatross Cruise several times and loved it. They liked it even better than the Pirate Cruise at the GF. The CM's were really great and they loved walking through WS at EPCOT before it opened. Even DH said that $30 per child was the best money we ever spent at Disney - kids had a ball and we had two hours of relaxation!

Thanks so much for the info disneymomx7 and sparklemint! My DH is concerned about the kids on a boat without us so the cruise may be out:confused3 What a bummer!

I am so glad about the laundry...we are trying to pack light so that helps a lot!!!!

15 days and counting til our first Beach Club stay!!!

subscribing.... planning a Dec 2010 trip. :thumbsup2

Just changed our reservation from BW CL standard room to BC CL deluxe. The only request I made was high floor. I have a lot of reading to do. :)

I am hoping to luck out and get a 2 br villa at the 7 mo mark. If I can do that we may just cancel the cash reservation and go on points. I just don't want to not get in so if need be we will pay cash

How is the pool during the first 2weeks of December? Is all of SAB heated like other resort pools? Does SAB have difficulty staying heated because of it being big and losing heat? How are the hot tub sections of SAB? On our Thanksgiving 2008 trip, the weather was a bit cool for swimming especially at night so I'm wondering if it would be better to stay at BC in a warmer month like October.... THANK YOU!!!!

We are thinking about staying at the BCV for our next vacation. My daughter is a distance runner who needs to run several miles every day as part of her training. Is there a place where she can do this at this resort?

Do guests at the BCV have access to all of the same pools (SAB) and recreational facilities as those in the regular resort rooms?

My kids (DS 9, DD 7, & DS 4) did the Albatross Crusie in October and all 3 said it was their favorite part of the trip. All the kids have lifejackets on and I never felt unsafe having them go. Dh and I sat on the Boardwalk and we actually were able to watch a lot of what the kids were doing from afar. I highly recommend it! I'd sign them up again in a heartbeat!

DH is a marathon runner and loves running the whole "Boardwalk" section each morning. He runs by YC, BC and the Boardwalk and then around the bridge area. It's his favorite place to run in all of Disney!

Do all the standard BC rooms have 2 queen beds? I mean unless you request a king. Do the queen rooms have a daybed? Are the hair dryers those wimpy ones mounted on the wall? TIA
