Sorry I've been MIA. My daughter (Jeanne) and her boyfriend (Brian) are here ... two weeks of fun! Brian has never been to the east coast and has been like a little 5 year old at WDW and it has been fun seeing WDW from his view. He got so excited over the Jungle Cruise.

I'm still working Sundays and Mondays while they are here and I've gotten to meet so many Disers lately. I'm so lucky to have my job ... I meet so many fantastic people and have made some lasting friends. And a few of you have even talked me into running in that Princess Marathon ... the real short one ... with you in March.

So, Happy Holidays to all. Jeanne and Brian leave on 12/22 so things will get back to normal and I'll be able to spend more time answering all your questions.

Hi Teena ~~

I'm glad that Jeanne and Brian are having a great vacation. It was fun chatting with you last week. We had a good time, just too short and also too crowded! But now I'm sitting at home with 16"-20" of snow predicted for tomorrow!! I'd much rather be back sitting on our YC balcony :)

Enjoy the rest of their visit :goodvibes

OOO! I realized my next trip I'm staying at the Beach Club so I have an excuse to start posting on this thread again!!!
We will have a blast with that race, I promise you! Now, I don't know how I'm going to feel doing the half marathon the day after the 5k  - but when we cross the finish line after that 5k it's going to be the best, and you're going to be so glad you let us con you into it! (I make no claims about DURING the race, though - you might not like us so much then! :rolleyes1)

Does anyone have the name of the YC manager (or an email address?) - I would really like to contact him to comment (very favourably) on the IPO - I have dealt with these guys before and they've always been great, but this time they've gone beyond that and I think it would be nice for the Manager to be aware of how great these guys are.

Thank you.

What are the beds like at the Beach Club Villas - esp. the king size. Are they on the hard side or the soft side?

ETA: I just found a post that mentioned that the kings were pillow top mattresses. I've never slept on one, but if my parents need an egg crate mattress pad to sleep on most kings, would they be Ok on a pillow top mattress without their egg crate topper? They will be flying and can't bring it.

Another option is to buy one from Wal-Mart or Target - anyone ever had to do that? My parents really cannot sleep on a bed that's remotely firm.

Teena

we'll be in the world from Jan 8th to the 18th. 8-11th at BLT (dh and I are doing the marathon) then 11-18 at BCV for dd 7th day.

Do you know yet what days you will be working?

I want to order a special dairy free cake for dd's bday. Wasn't thrilled with the only version available last tie at the boardwalk bakery. Anyone have other suggestions for places for me to call. I am looking for a really well decorated cake but it must be dairy free.

To me the king beds at BCV are just right...very comfy. "Remotely firm" is a bit hard to quantify but the mattresses give good support. :goodvibes

I have read that people have been able to request egg crates mattress pads at the resorts. Perhaps they could call and request one from housekeeping if they find the mattress too firm?

That's great to hear, thanks! We will definitely request, and if they don't have then we can always buy from Wal-Mart - we'll have rental cars.

We confirmed an exchange (RCI) into BCV today for October 2010 - we're so excited!!

Congratulations! :woohoo: Any time is a great time to visit BCV IMO but October is especially lovely.

Just do want to clarify that we have no personal experience with requesting the egg crate mattress pad. Sounds like you have things covered regardless.

Happy planning!:surfweb:

We were at the Beach Club 12/11-12/14. Those potato chips in concierage were incredible! popcorn::

I also did not care for the Long Hammer beer; the Yuengling and Sam Adams are my two favorites.

We can't wait to go back, hopefully in May :yay::yay:

First time poster, long time lurker. First, I want to thank all the active posters on this thread and on these boards. You all are so informative and helpful that reading these posts is as important as buying tickets and making reservations. We are staying at the Villas after the new year and are bringing our infant son for his first visit. Obviously, we will be spending a good bit of time at the resort (which is why we chose the BCV) and in the room; naps, feedings, etc. We will also be using the balcony quite a bit. We each will alternating between caring for the baby and entertaining our daughter. So, I need some advice on articulating a room request that will increase the probability of getting a quiet room location. I understand that one side of the resort is adjacent to a road and another overlooks the "quiet" pool. I'm unclear what boarders the "third" side. Visual aesthetics aren't as important as relative peacefulness for both us and our son. Any help Teena, BCV23, or any other expert can give would be greatly appreciated. Regardless, thanks for all the information on this board.

I'll be in the lobby the 17th and 18th. I'll be with my daughter in Vegas from the 8th to the 16th.

I'd call the BC and ask to speak to the pastry department and see how they can help you.

Teena, how wonderful to see WDW through the eyes of someone new to the magic. We are brining our DGD(4) on her first princess princess: tour of WDW in May. I am so looking forward to meeting you then. This will be our first stay at the YC. Now I just have to wait 4 more months! :hourglass

The time will fly by!!! So .... I'll just say, "See you soon!"

Just wondering - do all the standard rooms in the YC have flat panel tvs now? We stayed club level in August and those rooms did, but maybe staying in a standard room in May and just wondering if all the rooms have been refurbished with flat panel tvs. :confused3
