A few years ago our 13 yr old slept on the daybed and found it very comfortable. He was not tall, maybe 5'2" at the time, but not a small kid. Then our Godson also slept on the daybed when he was 11 and also liked it fine. I think either you 9 or 12 yr old will be comfy.:thumbsup2

Considering the ages of your kids, I think I'd go with the BC. The proximity to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and DHS makes the BC terribly convenient. And the BC just seems to be more "active" at all hours. This is not to say the BC is loud--not at all. But you get the fireworks every night from Epcot and all the activities at the Boardwalk in the evenings too. We loved WL, but it is considerably quieter and more laid back. The BC pool is more fun too.

Thanks for the comments, I am really torn. WL is my dream resort but now that I see more pics of BC it looks wonderful too. The only time I have spent at BC was for Cape May breakfast but really liked it and I think the kids would love the pool area (we saw it on Samantha Brown "great Hotels") plus we are planning many ADRs at signature dining in that area (Yachtsman, Flying Fish) and regular ADRs in Epcot. We have never spent anytime in the boardwalk area so it would be nice to see it.

I guess it is time to talk with DH and make a decision.....

Any additional imput would be appreciate.....

TeenaS. We are going to the Beach Club the end of this month, our first visit. We requested connecting rooms. We will be spending time between Epcot and MK. Are there any rooms you can suggest that would be best for us?

to The Beach Club. Our original plan was the Dolphin...but we got an offer to stay concierge Beach Club for $100 more per night...which isn't bad considering we can get a room with a daybed, (hopefully) saving $25 on a cot, breakfast every day, which will be a minimum $30 a day..and no parking fee, which is about $10 a day...so for about 40 extra per day we can have snacks, beer, (only dh )and at a resort we love.

I am excited!!

So questions.....Garden View concierge rooms, do most have daybeds? we have stayed 2x in regular rooms and they did!
Is the internet included in any part of the concierge level?

What about food offerings, I know nothing will be as good as The Poly...but...can the kids and I make it a meal at night? My husband will not, lol...

Not all of the GV CL room have daybeds - ours did but the rest of our GG only had 4 in a room and their rooms did not have daybeds.

As for the offerings, here is what we had this summer:

Breakfast: bagels, croissants, pastries, muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee, etc.

Snacks: delicious homemade chips with dip, cookies - chocolate chip and mickey shaped sugar, yogurt pretzels and gummy worms. Of course soda, lemonade, coffee, tea etc.

Appetizers: usually two hot appetizers each night: some included - chicken skewers, pot stickers, crab ragoons, mini eggrolls. Vegetable tray with dip, cheese and crackers, hummus and crackers. Then beer, wine, soda etc.

Desserts: we hardly ever went for desserts but I remember mini cheesecakes, mini parfaits, cookies etc.

We never made a meal out of the appetizers, but they were great holding you over for a late dinner reservation.

Hi!1 We were at the Yacht Club last month. when we arrived the morning of the 12th (a Saturday), there was filming going on. It was in the YC lobby when we arrived & we also saw them later on the walkway outside Beached & Cream. Just wondering if anyone knows what was being filmed (TeenaS.)?
Seemed like a commercial or new planning video footage. We just saw people(families) walking across the lobby with the greeter smiling & waving. No lines or talking that we noticed. Curious what it was, want to keep an eye out if it was a commercial, would be fun to say "hey we saw them film that!" Anyone with info? thanks!:)

Does anyone know how or if they recognize children's birthday's at the Beach Club. My grandson will turn 2 yrs and his triplet sisters will turn 5 yrs during our stay this month - Oct. 30th and Oct.31st. Would I need to notify anyone to have something special for the children? Thanks.

That totally depends on what you want. Are you going to be spending most days at Epcot? If so, request a room on the first or second floor near the quiet pool (which makes you closest to Epcot). If you want to be close to the lobby and the bus stop and SAB, then request a room close to the lobby. If you booked a standard view room (also known as garden view), then you have a 50/50 shot of getting a roof view or a parking lot view, so if the view is important, request a courtyard view. If you want to spend time on the balcony, you should request a full balcony.

If you are there on a Sunday or Monday, stop in the lobby and say hello. I love to meet my fellow disers!!

I get left regularly in the lobbies of Yacht or Beach, when DS wants to hang out with Dad in the arcade. I know who to come find now! Maybe see you soon!

Super!! I'm leaving tomorrow for 7 nights on the Disney Magic. Starting 10/18, I'll be working every Sunday and Monday until after the holidays.

Have a great cruise, Teena....and I will look forward to meeting you come December!

Bon Voyage! :goodvibes

I will be sure to stop by either Sunday or Monday. Would love to meet you. Enjoy your upcoming vacation.

You can note it on your reservation, but there is no guarantee that anything will be done. We have gone twice on my daughter's bday - once we had a card from Cinderella left in the room - the other time - not even a Happy Birthday. We didn't expect anything either time, so that was fine - just giving you an example.

We did, however, let them know at our Cape May Cafe breakfast as well and they made a big fuss - the whole restaurant sang to her and they brought over a card signed by the characters and CMs - it was very nice!

Have any changes been made to the breakfast areas over the last few years? For those who don't want a character breakfast, the last time we went there was just a small food bar. Has this been extended at all?

We are going for the marathon and DD 7th birthday Jan 8-18. 8-11 at Bay Lake Tower and 11-18 in a 2 br Beach Club Villa. Just got the ADR's for my first leg and got Chef Mickey's, California Gill and Le Cellier!!!!! Seems like it isn't going to be very crowded if I could get all of those.

Just in case it hasn't been posted, but Art's last day at Beach Club is Saturday October 17th. This was posted in allears.net's newsletter.

Luckily I am checking in to the Yacht that day, so hopefully we will be able to stop on over and say good luck.

WHAT???? I finally met the guy, got my picture with him, and now he is retiring? I wish I would have known, also, I would have definitely said something. I told him how I felt like meeting him was like meeting a celebrity. Awww, that's too bad...I feel like we "bonded." LOL.

Well, I wish him the best...still waiting to meet Teena!

Just a qsl at the BC Marketplace. But, over at the YC, there's Captain's Grille. No characters there, and you can have the buffet (15.99 last week), or order a la carte. DW can vouch for the "very good" buffet.

Also, there's the Boardwalk Bakery, which opens at 0630 (earliest breakfast in the area)

FINALLY found this thread halfway down PAGE 4!!!

Got back late Sunday night and had an absoultely wonderful time.

Teena wasn't there until our 3rd day but I did finally get to meet this elusive woman and she is a sweetie!:cutie: Truly helpful and seems like she really enjoys what she does. She made us feel very welcome and went out of her way to try and help us with a lil minor dilema of indecision while we were at BC. It all worked out beautifully and we would absolutely, positively return to this gorgeous resort as well as recommend it to others. GOTTA LOVE THAT SAB!!!

Got to meet Art and he is one amazing man. Truly an asset to the BC and WDW in general. He exudes an inner joy that just bubbles forth when near him. So glad I got to meet him before he left the Beach Club.

I just returned from WDW and a brief stay at BC (10/1-10/3) and have to say I wish I could have stayed at BC my entire trip. The staff was fantastic - the person at check-in wished me a happy birthday and gave me a rose. I thought that was such a nice touch. She also managed to get our room upgraded from a standard to a water view so we had a view of the lake. I only wish the balcony had been bigger so we could have sat outside at night. I had also forgotten to ask for a package that had been delivered to me earlier in the week. By the time I remembered it was already 10PM and the business center had long closed. The front desk staff managed to locate my package and sent someone down there to get it for me. Because of that, I was still able to get out for my 6AM run :)

I also loved the location of the resort - although maybe it is a little too close to the Boardwalk Bakery and France. I have a pretty big sweet tooth!

I ate at Cape May for dinner and the Yachtsman for dinner. The service at both was impeccable! At the Yachtsman, the server did give me a birthday card signed by different characters to go along with my cake. I thought that was a nice touch :)

SAB was also lots of fun! I never worked up the courage to go down the slide since it was mostly kids on it. I think I would have gone if I had spotted another adult using it.

Staying here with the hubby for our 9th Anniversary trip in Sept of 09. Without the children. WOOOHOOOOO!!!! Looking forward to getting to know all the Yacht Club lovers. :)

Does anyone have a picture of the day bed at the BC. We are staing there next oct and just curious to see what it looks like.

My wife and I returned from WDW last week where we stayed at the YC. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The trip was made even more memorable because when we checked in, we were surprised by the YC staff that we were chosen as “Family of the Day” and were being upgraded to Club Level. The view was great, the food was great, and everything went well with our stay. The only down side was that Orlando was experiencing very hot days for October.
