Hello DIS friends :goodvibes

I need some info without having to read thru pages and pages of this thread... can someone tell me what the status is of the refurb at YC? I have been out of the loop for several months and last I remember BWI/BC/YC were all getting a refurb with the new flatscreen TVs and new decor. Can someone update me on that project?? Is it finished? Are there pictures around somewhere??

Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate it!!!! :thumbsup2

Just back form a fab fortnight at the YC. We were announced as family of the day on check-in with quite a bit of fuss - balloons, photos ....and an upgrade to Club level for the two weeks :)

Room was refurbed, spotless as if we were the first people in it. Escorted to our room by CM and shown the ropes re Concierge.

Both kids birthdays whilst there - both got cards, chocolate Minnie/Mickey and chocolate coated strawberries.

All the staff were so helpful and friendly and we got to know a lot of them over our stay.

Didn't want to leave. Will be going back to YC next year for our third stay :)

Just got back from two weeks at YC on Saturday. Refurb is still underway. We saw painters and lots of new mattresses coming in each day. I'm not totally sure where they are upto but know 5th floor down including third floor are done. Refurbed rooms are lovely compared to the standard we had two years ago :)

That is good to know :) We just booked YC today for March and I'm hoping everything will be complete by then. I'm excited to see the new rooms. Any pictures?? :flower3:

Disney1976, glad you had such a great trip to BC! Congrats on the upgrade! I totally agree with you about the burgers at Hurricane Hanna's and B & C...the burger at Hurricane Hanna's was MUCH better! We love BC and SAB! Can't wait to go back!

Gald to hear about the burgers at HH - especially since they will be a cs credit as opposed to a ts credit at Beaches. We will be there on FRIDAY!!!!:cool1::cool1:

We just got home. We stayed on the second floor and the rooms were done. They did do some finishing touches in the hallway when we were there like replacing the trim on the walls.

When walking back from the Boardwalk at night, I saw that the first floor rooms in my section were almost done. It looked like the beds just needed to be made.

I'm so glad to hear the rooms at YC are almost done! We'll be there the week after Thanksgiving and we can't wait!

Thanks for the great review! We checked out of a BCV studio on 9/23, so we just missed you! It is a fabulous resort and I can only IMAGINE how spoiled I would be if I got an upgrade like yours!!!

I had wanted to meet Teena, after hearing from her on this thread, but she was not working the days I was there...on vacation, I think? I *did* get to meet Art the Greeter...will post a pic if I can figure out how to! I told him he was a celebrity, and he was so sweet and gracious.

We also remember Raquel, a pool waitresss from last year. She is a sweetie, so if anyone gets a chance to say hi to her, please do!

We just love it at SAB. My DD won a hula hoop contest there one day. They have so many activities for kids there (movie on the beach, bonfire etc) there is no reason to leave! Did you go down the slide???:)

We also did MNSSHP, I was disappointed Space Mtn was (is) closed for refurbishment. That is our favorite! We still had a great time, of course.

We had eaten at Citricos probably 7 years ago and still talk about it. After reading your review, we need to go back! We dined at CG last year, and we were disappointed in the food (we had eaten there previously about 4 years ago and loved it) and also the kids running around, screaming. Just like you, I know it is Disney, we have a child of our own with us, but it was weird how that particular restaurant seems to have the most unruly kids?

Still have not eaten at Bistro and have always wanted to. Can you describe your meal there a little more? Would you return?

I haven't eaten at AP in years, always thought I would want to go back. Thanks for the heads up. I have noticed that WDW restaurants really are not consistent, and that quality can go down quickly. This trip we dined at Biergarten, which always makes us happy, and Kouzzina, which was AWFUL...I mean, really bad, such a disappointment...and also we tried Teppan Edo for the first time and will never return there.

Anyway, thanks for your review and letting me relive my trip a little bit! BCV rocks!!!

Glad you enjoyed my mini-review! Yes, we had a good time, and I was SHOCKED by the upgrade, especially since it really wasn't the resort's fault, and the problem was resolved quickly.

I did go down the pool slide, not once, but twice. It's hard for me, I don't like heights, so the entire time climbing the stairs, I felt like I was going to go over the side. :scared1:

Raquel is very sweet, you're right! And she was so efficient. She must of checked on us about half a dozen times in an hour! :worship:

I would say my meal at Bistro, like most of the signature meals we ate at Disney, with the exception of Citricos, was forgettable. Actually, my girlfriend and I were discussing this earlier. We can't even remember what we ate, and we have pictures! I think she had some shrip and pasta dish, I had pork tenderloin. Service was adequate-our waiter had just been promoted from downstairs, and was very attentive until the end of the meal, when it was more crowded and he had more tables. Then he dissapeared for 15 minutes when I needed to pay my bill. Food was just okay. Nothing to write home about. I don't think we'll be back there.

One place we did eat that's not on Disney property was Emeri's Tchoup Chop, at the Royal Pacific Resort. Excellent food, and the prices were significantly lower then Disney's signature restaurants. Even without a discount card, like TIW, our meal was about $60 less, including alcohol.

Thanks about letting me know about the places you dined -I think we can keep those off our list for next time!

Oh, and forgot to mention to people heading to BC -all the mattresses have apparently been replaced. They were working on replacing them on day 2 of our stay, and so we had a new bed to boot! Juding by all the mattresses in the hallway, I think every room was swapped out.

Oh wow! We've booked 2 standards (9 people) as a grand gathering and are celebrating 4 birthdays. What amazing pixie dust!

I just got back from 4 nights at YC, Sep 25 to 29.

They weren't very enjoyable (I actually just posted this in more detail, but decided not to post it for now... not ready).

I do have a letter to mail to the resort manager, and I have the mailing address, but wondered how to address the letter? To General Manager? Resort Manager? Is there a name I should address letter to? Should I also send an email?
(Yes, I did speak to managers while there!)

That is so awesome - congrats on the upgrade and being Family of the Day! Sounds like you had a wonderful time :cloud9:

Here are some pictures of our room. it was a king room, I think the layout is different than the rooms with queens.

For those that asked earlier, we were in room 2061.

I do not know what happened to the poster above, but we had no issues and found teh staff to be very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, we were greeted at the door by name and escorted to check-in.

I was really impressed with the YC.

Hi! I read your original post (it came up on my email notification, so I could read the entire thing) and I want to say I am sorry your visit was less than magical (I know...that's an understatement.)

I just wanted to add that it is a shame that was your first experience w/the resort. As you can see by my screen name, I LOVE the WL! BUT...after staying there 4 or 5 times (I forget, it is in my siggy) the last time we stayed there was awful...and I remember thinking to myself, "Geez, if this was the first time I had ever stayed here, I would hate this place!"

Disney is so on top of most things, they do a fantastic job 90% of the time. It is because they do such a great job that when they do not, it is glaringly obvious.

I just wanted you to know that I have stayed at an "äwesome" place and had a bad experience, too, and I wanted to share!

Anyway, I hope someone can give you the name or title you need. Let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the link, your room looked awesome! Was that a deluxe room? I noticed it had the couch and a wet bar area. :)

Just like to say I agree with this. For every bad experience at a resort, there are 20 wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, Disney is not perfect but they do try hard to please and make your vacation magical. They want you to come back. It is too bad that the OP had a bad experience. I found the buses transport at BC was horrible on our last stay in May. However, I will go back and stay there again because we have had several other stays where it wasn't bad at all.

I am one of those people that NEVER leaves WDW when I am there (and we drive from Ft Lauderdale, so we always have a car.) However, I think we will start doing so...we dined at "Roys" on Sand Lake Blvd on a different Orlando trip (not Disney, visiting relatives) and it was phenomenal. Since you like in the area, please give it a try!

I think that's just the layout of the king rooms.

I was looking at this map, and the description of the 061 rooms are "king murphy" But the couch did not seem to convert into anything. Not that I looked that hard lol.

Your pictures are great. Did the sofa make into a bed?

I lifted up the cushions and it did not look like it, but I could be wrong. I did not look very hard.
