The 2009 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ Thread

I asked this same question awhile back and didn't get an answer. I have a vague recollection of hearing that you can only use clear or see-thru floats, which seems a little restrictive to me.

Can anyone please, please, please give us the straight goods!;) TIA!:goodvibes

The big inner tubes for floating around the lazy river are clear. It's a safety issue. They also allow the foam noodles. The lazy river is pretty small and deep. People on tubes get bunched up easily. If they were on colored tubes, like at the water parks, it could be very difficult for the lifeguards to see if anyone is in distress underwater. I saw some young children in small colorful floaties with Stitch on them. They were sold at the poolside shop where you rent the clear tubes. They sold foam noodles, too.

It sounds like I heard right then, and if you bring your own float it must be clear or see-thru.

Does anyone know where we can get these? I assume the clear ones won't be available everywhere you look like the regular colored ones. (I am certainly not paying $40 a day for the 4 of us to rent floats for the 8 days we are there...that's $320 I am not willing to part with!:scared:)

I thought we'd want/need the tubes, but they turned out to be more trouble than they're worth. On our first day, there was only one tube left, so I decided to rent it for the 2 hrs. ($3/hr) we knew we'd be at the pool and we'd trade it off between the 5 of us. DD11 used it first. She floated around the lazy river for 15 min., but complained it was hard to move, because it was so big. Then DS7 and I tried it and found it cumbersome and hard to maneuver. The lazy river doesn't flow as well as the water parks. It takes a fair amount of paddling and kicking to get around. You can't take them in the shallower areas or by the big slide, so when the kids wanted to move into another area of the pool, we had to lug the thing over and park it on the side. Several people tried to take it. We didn't want to risk getting extra charges if someone took it and didn't return it, so DH decided to sit by the pool and do guard duty. We didn't bother with the tubes the rest of our stay.

Same with us - we rented it for a day. The kids found them too big and bulky. We ended up just buying the noodles and then leaving them with another family when we went home.

Hmmm....maybe we will just plan on renting for 1-2 days and see how we like them.

But if I can find ones to purchase that are clear, that is still my preference. So if anyone knows where to get them, do tell!;)

Do you think these would be acceptable?

$5.99 for TWO and free shipping!!! Plus, I like the fact that ours would be different from the clear ones so people hopefully wouldn't take them on us.;)

Sorry, no. They have to be completely clear. Colored tubes, even if frosted or opaque, make it difficult for lifeguards to get a good view. The only colored tubes we saw were the really small kiddie ones, suitable for 3-5 yr. olds.

Are all the CL garden view rooms at the YC on the same floor as the lounge? Do they all have full balconies and daybed/sofa things? Or do I need to request these things. Also, are these rooms truly garden view, or are some of them parking lot/rooftop views?

FYI to those unfamiliar with SAB and the lazy river - its pretty small, but for some reason DEEP (8ft. in some areas), which is probably the reason for the safety requirement of clear tubes.

That's what we used to do, too.

Exactly!

So...the consensus seems to be that you can buy noodles at the pool gift shop? If so, then I won't have to try and buy noodles at home and pack them with me in my case...it will save a lot of room and hassle if I can buy it on site! Can anyone confirm seeing these for sale at the BC?
Thanks

Yes they are on the same floor at the lounge - 5th floor. They have full balconies. No, they do not all have daybed/sofa things. No, they are not all garden views, some are parking lots, roofs, etc. If a view is really really important, you should think about switching to a water view!

Thank you for your response, Teena! We look forward to meeting you when we come in Nov.

Does anyone know of a website that I can use to view my dining reservations- so I can print it out to take with me

they don't appear when I look at my reservation online?

We have 1 bedrooms booked with points and are waitlisted for a 2 bedrooms at both resorts. I know are allowed 5 but how cramped would it be with the air bed? Is the lay out in one of the resorts better than the other for this situation?

Another question for those of you who have experienced the waitlist. Is it pretty hard for them to come through for you? I have a cash room booked through MS as well just in case.

TIA for your help. I am now seeing why you shouldn't make changes to plans...

I don't know that one exists. When we checked in for our last trip in concierge level, they gave us a printout of our ADR's. The resort may be able to pull up anyone's ADR's. If all else fails, check with them and see. Many people around here make their own lists. I put my ADR conf. # in my cell phone under my "contacts" list, so I don't have to carry a paper around with me ;)

I have the list that I will print to take with me- but it would be nice to have a list from Disney incase I run into any problems.

I had a problem a couple of years ago at LeCellier, I confirmed our reservation before I left, I arrived at the podium 10 minutes before our scheduled time and they said that I did not have a reservation. There was no reservations available, so we had to eat take out at Rose and Crown.

If you booked on the phone you can't see them online. You will just have to take it as given to you. (I do both!) It is two separate booking systems. Love Disney technology:confused3!

Question: On our arrival day if we arrive at the Beach Club Villas at noon will they allow us to use the various pools (inc. Stormalong Bay) even though we may not be able to check in until 3:00 PM? Would they store our luggage for us until the room was ready?
Any help will be much appreciated!
