I agree the band was off, last night i noticed with some of the artists that the band was louder than the microphones making it harder to hear them.

My dogs are rooting for Jason:

(although this is my dogs' brother)

That's funny cause I've already looked at that (and milli vanilli) for my comparison for him.

Ooh, I wanna use that too!

Use them ALL, Tammie!! You have some doozies to use this time around!! :lmao:

David Archuleta – Shop Around – I liked his voice, but I can see his Melinda "Awe Shucks" Doolittle attitude getting old quick. He won Star Search so it's not like he has never been told that he is good. The fact that he is so surprised that the judges liked him seems a bit over the top to me.

I noticed that, too. "especially in front of the audience"??? He's been doing this since BIRTH!

I definitely see him playing some character in an upcoming Disney flick! :lmao:

I completely agree with the John Travolta look-alike and Orlando Bloom look-alike comments. Those people immediately came to my mind when I saw those performers. Luke Menard looks like a cross between Orlando Bloom, and because of his sideburns, Luke Perry/Dylan McKay. My mom even referred to Luke as "the Will Turner guy" before I had even told her I thought the same thing.

There are too many guys with the same name. Is everyone talking about Jason Castro when you talk about "Jason"? Both of the male contestants from our area are named Jason :headache:. I like both, but Jason Yeager made a horrible song choice ("Moon River") that may end up costing him any chance of making it very far this year.

If those of you with the church connection don't mind saying, what church is it that he (Castro) goes to? I'm not going to come gawk - just curious since I'm also a church-goer (but on the west side of the DFW metroplex).

This is weird, but it sounded like David Cook was singing, "I can see me loving nobody but you. . ." instead of, "I can't." Yea for good grammar! :thumbsup2 My dd makes fun of me because I sing Lean on Me with "I'm gonna need somebody on whom to lean." He creeped me out at first because we have a relative, by marriage, whose last name is Cook and they look a tiny bit alike. Our Mr. Cook is NOT my favorite person. He doesn't have much to do with any of his Cook relatives, so if they're related, he might not even know it.

Danny was downright creepy.

I read that he attends the big church in Rockwall - can't remember the exact name of it but it's really big. I think it was mentioned in the article that was in the Dallas Morning News yesterday morning.

Here's the DUH for the day:

After reading Dialidol I KNEW VFTW was BACK in full force... who are they endorsing?
:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :worship: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3:

:lmao: :lmao: Even if one doesn't agree with the ideas behind VFTW, their play-by-plays of the show are pretty hilarious. I love the title of one of their blog entries: "Top 24 Guys - Being Relevant By Singing 60's Songs":rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't read through all the posts...you guys are prolific! But I have to say that Colton's performance annoyed me 'cause he was so HAPPY singing a NOT HAPPY song! It was like he didn't get it, he was singing it and adding the "jazz hands" and smiles and it didn't go with the song. That grated on me.
I also wish they could have done their own song last night; I think it helped figure out who was who musically. We are going to go through a lot of THEMES if they've started already!

My faves were: Michael Johns (hubba hubba!)
David A., and Jason... although I also liked David Cook. It seemed like he definitely tried to make it his own.

I think Luke is cute too but my DH said he looks like he just got off work, went to a bar, and got up to sing karaoke...he needs a stylist!

Last night was a bit of a let down. It was like I had this great big balloon and somebody came along and let the air out of it. Some eprformances were good, and some were cringe-worthy. In the end I gave votes to Michael Johns, Jason-Dreadlocks, David A, Garrett, and the very first guy.

For me the stand outs are Michael and Jason Dreadlocks. I am STILL trying to get past how badly those dreads must smell. And I totally think he looks like ayoung john Travolta (even said it to DH last night). I think ALL of the guys are capable of much much better and this theme night nonsense so early on is ruining it for many of them. 60's music is not relevent to ANY performer today, so asking these kids to try to make a 60's joint "their own" is stupid.

I hope the girls reinflat emy balloon tonight. Did anyone else notice Nurse AMy looking moody, sullen, bored and disinterested all night? At one point everybpdy stood to clap during a song and she looked at them, sighed and then stood up and half-heartedly tapped her hands together with the beat. I don't think I saw her smile all night.

I think my favorite quote is one guy's impression of David A reacting to praise: “Gee golly! A real live audience! Aw, shucks. Am I on an honest to goodness television special? Well color me purple! This is the living end. My oh my!"

I literally lost it during the Chikezie critique~!! They said the color of his suit was Macaroni and Chikezie.....:rotfl2:

WOW you guys have been chatty!! its great to see so many opinions!
So far i am really liking Robbie, Michael Johns and David A and Dave Cook. Danny Noriega is super fun to watch, such a diva! lol :lmao:

I really almost lost it when Simon called Garret " haunted looking" ..i know it was mean, but it really struck me as ridiculously funny for some reason.

Looking forward to the ladies tonight!!

I was surprised at Jason Castro. He was really good for someone we haven't seen much of. I'm a Michael Johns fan, but I agree he's appeared to come off as cocky (and there's a difference between confidence and cocky).
Couldn't agree more! I do like the guy and all, but we'll see how it goes. No surprise that he performed last this first week?
