Sure, it is early, but what are you looking for in 2008? Arguably, 2007 was the worst season so far. I can only think that this season will be better.

What are you hoping for in 2008? Do you have any insider info at all? Do you still care about the show as much as you used to?

Me, I am just hoping that the talent level is improved, and that we get performers with a personality. Last year was so bland that I actually stopped watching for about 5 weeks.

Let the fun begin! :thumbsup2

Yay, I'm so excited for this season! Year after year I get so annoyed and hate the show, but then it sucks me back in :lmao:

This season I'm looking for someone who's not Ruben, Fantasia, Taylor or Jordin - AKA the Forgotten Idols, otherwise known as the people who shouldn't have won, but did :lmao: Bring back the Kelly's, Clay's, Jennifer's and Carrie's... or just people who have actual talent. Or even just the people like the one's from season 1 who may not have been the most talented, but were at least likable and fun to watch. These past few seasons have been SERIOUSLY lacking when it comes to talent and likability.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe wants all wants all to know that he is completely aware something went horribly wrong last season. "Last year we had nobody outstanding," admits of the leggy, pony-hawked, and beatboxing top 12. "I promise it's different year altogether." He also swears the show won't be overtaken by guest stars like Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani. "We were so enamored with our mentors last season that we took too long saying who they were and that they'd sold millions of albums. We've got four or five splendid people coming, but we're going to use less of them." Now that the apologies are out of the way, what else is new about season 7? For starters, contestants that reach Hollywood will be allowed to play instruments to accompany their crooning. "No one did anything stupid," Lythgoe says. "The worst was some poor guy playing drums and doing a very poor impression of Karen Carpenter." Far from poor was some of the talent Lythgoe and judge Randy Jackson unearthed during auditions in San Diego. "San Diego was the bomb," Jackson says, adding, "That's D.A.Space.B.O.M.B." (Thanks, Randy.) As for the grand prize, Lythgoe is predicting a guy will win season 7, while Jackson sees something else in his crystal ball. "I think somebody with hair will win," he says. "You can rule out all the blad people right now." Somewere, Phil Stacey just shed a single tear.

And here's another article about it

Well let me jump on now...American Idol is a guilty secret of mine...but I agree that last year was pretty stinky.

With the writers strike, AI has the chance to hit INCREDIBLE numbers, IMO.... So it had better be great.

Ick, last season was awful!! After that train wreck, I'll watch, but mostly because there's nothing else on.

Chris Daughtry will always be my favorite Idol. :thumbsup2

How funny, I was just thinking about this today and wondering when the thread would start.

Me, I can't wait. The only thing I would like to see is more of the good singers during audition and less of the stinky ones. I would rather see the ones that make it through get shown in their original audition.

And I am also glad that there will not be so much focus on the celebs that stop on. Let us get to knwo the contestants a bit.

Hard choice for me... Daughtry or Bo Bice.

But it's up against The Biggest Loser and Big Brother, two shows that have cult followings and two of my personal favorites :goodvibes After the past few horrible seasons I know a lot of people who have gotten sick of and given up on Idol. It's going to have some tough competition!

Of course I'll still be watching! We're Tivo'ing Big Brother and The Biggest Loser in the living room and American Idol in the basement. Good times.... :rotfl:

I always only watch the auditions and then I get bored. I did love the Next Great American Band that was on this year, though!

Kelly's mine. She puts on a heck of a show. There hasn't been a breakout star yet from last season but I think that may end up changing this year.

Absolutely.... and I really wish that AI would put out a DVD of the best performances from all the seasons. I would love to watch Ruben sing Sweet Home Alabama, or Daughtry singing "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman", again. Or, and be still my heart, Katherine McPhee singing Black Horse and Cherry Tree.

Plus, I wouldn't mind seeing Kellie Pickler singing a Queen song or 2... ;)

I LOVVEEEEDDDD Bo! I thought he was one of the best contestants ever on the show. Carrie's done really well since winning, but I was pulling for Bo that season.

Bo's NEW CD is tremendous. :thumbsup2 Lightyears better than the first one.

I hated his first one. He had such a great southern rock voice, and then he released a CD of pop crap :headache: (We can say crap on here, right? :lmao:) I have to check out his new album later tonight :thumbsup2

I love country but just her attitude turns me off.

I've noticed that she does think that she owns Nashville now that she's had some success :lmao: I always find her voice kind of whiny :headache:

What country are you into? I'm into rock through and through, but I've been looking for some good country stuff. I like some of the Rascall Flatts stuff, but I'm not sure who to even look into :lmao:
