70 more to go!
I've always liked Biggio because my oldest son (now almost 17) has a little bit of a connection to him. My son's fourth/fifth grade teacher (looping program) was a great guy and actually played on the Seton Hall baseball team that featured Craig Biggio, Mo Vaughn and John Valentin. That was some college team!

I hope he gets it in Houston. That would be amazing.

I was trying to guesstimate the possible date, so I could get tickets. Me & a million other fans, LOL!

I know the feeling. If Glavine re-signs with the Mets, he is only 10 wins away from 300....do I try to figure out when it could happen & do I wait & see? :rotfl:

I think the only other team that Clemens would sign with is the Red Sox. If they sign the Japanese pitcher, they won't have money for Roger,

Where did you hear that? I don't think the Red Sucks have any money restraints except that they could never spend more than the stankees. I also have read that they were in negotiations with Boras on JD Drew which would, if true, cost them about $50+ million over 4 years. I wouldn't exactly call those numbers as being short on cash.

Remember, they will have new revenue streams in Japan that they will be using to offset the bounty they paid as well as to pay for some more players. I read in a NY paper that the stankees make about $20 million from marketing Matsui in Japan. The red sucks look to do the same.

If the red sucks feel that Clemens will push them over the edge, and he wants to come here, I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't think lack of money will get in the way.

Players I would like to see on the Red Sucks team (aside from the new pticher):

JD Drew
Gregg Zaun
Lugo
Lowell to stay
Ramirez to stay

I have no idea what they are going to do about a closer....

Edited to clarify: The stankess make $20 million PER YEAR marketing Matsui in Japan.

I can't believe it. Soriano goes to the Cubs!

Well, now, at least, the Phillies ought to have enough for pitching! Wes Helms sure isn't all that exciting.

I just heard on ESPN Radio (the Dan Patrick show) that the Red Sox & Giants are talking about a trade that involves Manny Ramirez.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2677627

Could this mean that Barry Bonds won't be in a Giants uni next year? Will he play anywhere next year?

Rumor is that he will we playing in Oakland.

I have also hear rumors that the Phillies would take Manny if Boston eats some of his salary.

I heard that Oakland isn't interested in him anymore, they are going after Mike Piazza.

Brewers fan checking in. I am cautiously optimistic about the Crew's chances next year. Granted, they just traded away their #2-3 starter (Doug Davis), and they have like 7 guys to play the outfield and only one or two of them are legitimate starters. But still, you gotta love the potential that the young guys offer.

You know, you can pretty much set your calendar by when the Manny Ramirez trade talks begin. Honestly, I don't see it happening. They go through this big dance every year, and nothing ever comes of it.

The Astros picked up Carlos Lee & Woody Williams. Lee batting clean-up behind Berkman will be nice. Williams isn't a bad option as our 3rd/4th starter. A rotation of Oswalt, Pettitte, Clemens (around June), & Williams sounds pretty good.

Phillies sign Adam Eaton... 3 years - 24 million.... ughhhh.

Dodgers sign Randy Wolf... 1 year , 8 million.... neither are worth it, IMO.

I agree on that, but there isn't much pitching out there.

Contrary to past years regarding Manny, this year there is a market for him. His salary is seen as a relative bargain when looking at the salaries that are being given to Soriano (WWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY overrated) and Lee. There are a few more teams looking for a big bat...and the Red Sucks look willing to trade. I still don't know if it makes sense for them to lose that big of a bat even if they do sign Drew.

I've heard Zaun could be a Red Suck by weekend....he would be a definite upgrade over Mirabelli as long as he can catch a knuckle ball.

To the Astros fan above....you list 4 guys in your potential rotation and 2 of them are considering retirement. (Pettite and Clemens). I would be on pins and needles hoping that Pettite changes his mind. Clemens looks to not be a 100% guarantee on going back to Houston this time. If I were a stros fan, I'd be hoping we got more pitching....ain't that much out there though.

We've been on pins & needles about Clemens every year-he waits till the last minute. I think Pettitte might be persuaded by the $$$ spent to upgrade the team. Time will tell...

Zaun back to the Jays for 2 years 7.25 mil with an option for a 3rd year. Apparently their deal with Barajas fell threw.

Well, Tom Glavine has decided to stay with the Mets! 1 yr, $10.5 million.

Baseball winter meeting are getting underway in Orlando. I just read that the Yankees group is staying at the Swan. I wonder if any of them came here to read about which hotel to stay at! :rotfl:
