The 1st Day Of School!!!!! Woohoo!!!

It's the first day of school for my DD's. And the last year of elementary school for them. They are in the 4th grade now and act very grown up. I'm happy and sad at the same time.

A couple of us mom's went to our usual first day of school celebration breakfast at Ihop.

I hope that the rest of you have as much fun today as I am going to have. My DS 2yrs isn't happy that his sisters are gone though.

Oh my! My kids don't go back until after Labor Day...when is the last day of school for your kids?

Our last day was May 27. We get one week off in Oct and a two week spring break in March. We go the same number of days that everyone else does just with extra breaks in the middle. 8 weeks off for the summer.

It is considered a modified year round.

I would MUCH prefer that!! My kids have a 2 week break in December along with a week and a half in April along with all of the scattered holidays between. Our last day was June 24th. I really wish they would reduce the December break, I have a hard time finding a sitter. At least if it was an extra week in the summer, they could be in camp!

I guess I am not the norm because I hate when school starts! I love having DD9 home!

I usually enjoy having the kids at home but this summer has been very challenging. In our immediately family we had 2 surgeries, 1 heart attack, 1 mini stroke, 1 dislocated elbow, 1 death and 2 funerals. All of this was in a 7 week period.

I was looking forward to school starting to get some sort of balance back into our lives.
My DD's were very excited to be going back. They were tired of summer and all the stuff.

Yeah I guess under those circumstances I would like to have a little balance back in my life.
