My husband is now using a wheelchair we will be on the Dream in December. We Have not cruised with a wheelchair before. We have reserved an accessible room … is there anything else I need to that I may have missed? I am turning here for any and all tips ….. this will be a 4 day cruise with a stop at Castaway Cay and Nassau.

TIA

This is the cruiseline's guide for guests with disabilities, you may find some helpful information here:

The HA room will have just one bathroom instead of a split bath and I've heard the floor can get slippery due to the roll-in shower. Be sure to put down some towels.

You can arrive early for the WDT shows to be escorted to accessible seating areas.

If he will need to remain in the wheelchair for meals you may want to make sure DCL has that noted on your reservation so you are assigned a table with an accessible pathway.

Castaway will have beach wheelchairs if that is of any interest.

Nassau has a lot of cobblestones making it rather a rough ride. There are limited excursion offerings for wheelchairs.

Just to add, put the towels down outside the shower just past the drains in the floor, otherwise you'll create an extra swimming pool.

We got off the Dream just yesterday and for the first time I needed a wheelchair for debarkation. Just know that it may take a long time for a pusher to come.

Using the hand shower device, I did pretty well with not getting the floor all wet when taking a shower. It’s just good to be aware of!
