Times were very different back then, the clothes, the stage, life in general. Girls were married with children at 16.The movie was jsut trying to portray times like they were, now I have never seen the movie, but sex sells too, so in the movie industry they will make things more sexual to sell more. A women who is larger on top is more attractive to men than a women whos aren't as large. Its the way the world is....or at least our community, now and back then.
