Also if it's very windy or stormy the boats won't run. But if you take the boats and there's a Capt Grant at the helm, tell him I said hi. ;)

Does anyone have any current pictures of the hot tub area? Have all the shrubs been cut down? Is it entirely open now? Thanks.

Question about refrigerators.

I had the impression that refrigerators were included in the rooms and were not an additional fee.

But I just went to a site that said POFQ refrigerators can be rented for $10/day fee.

Can someone clear this up for me.

And do any of the mods have refrigerators included in the price of the room (no extra charge)?

Thanks in advance! :cutie:

It may be an old site you are looking at. Previously not all rooms in POFQ had refrigerators now they all do and there is no extra charge for them. I don't know the answer to your other question though, see my sig! :thumbsup2

You honeymooned there? Oh, I know I will definitely have some questions for you as I plan this. We looked at doing a lot of different hotels, but POFQ just looks so beautiful to me. We were going to do WL, but this is so much cheaper, which means more money for decorating our house. So, tell me what you like most about POFQ.

We both love how peaceful and calm the resort is, even when it's completely booked. The small lanes, the path beside the Sassagoula and the various benches scattered throughout are lovely. It is really a retreat from the very hectic parks.

subscribing, we're going in April. Looks like a beautiful resort. My husband booked this resort as a surprise trip for the family. I honestly don't know anything about this resort. Can't wait to read this thread. ;)

I hope you don't mind me adding my 2 cents. But I love POFQ because it's a small resort, only 7 buildings. It has its own bus stop at MK in the evening, huge plus in my opinion. I also love the boat ride to DTD, if you do this tell Capt Grant I said "HI" if he's behind the helm. Oh, don't miss the beignets at the food court. Also, be sure to check out the carriage ride at POR, very romantic. It is possible to not only see Illuminations from the bus stop, but hear the music too. One more thing, most times you will be the first on or off the bus, except from DTD.

After reading this wonderful thread I'm thinking of POFQ vs POR. I love the small size, the rooms, the first bus stop (need a seat-toddler). BUT the resort decor, seems.....almost garish. The restaurant area with the oversized-evil-grin heads hanging from the ceiling looks like it would freak out a small child.:scared1:

Help me try to get over this one issue! Everything else looks so lovely. POR seems beautiful too, but I'm scared of having to stand on the bus and waiting too long to get back to the resort at the end of the day. (we're going end of Jan, is it even an issue then? I've never been to WDW)

BTW, how do you get back to the resort from DTD when the boat stops at 11pm? Bus or cab?

Thanks, veterans!!

Your only option then is the bus.

I didn't find the room decor at POFQ garish at all. I found the resort to be lovely and charming. As far as the Mardi Gras decor inside the food court, our 4 year old daughter, a real girlie-girl, thought it was cool.

POFQ has buses to and from DTD as well as the boat service. You can choose to take the bus even when the boats are running (the bus service is quicker but not as cool an experience), so you can certainly catch the bus when the boats have retired for the night. The boats don't run in bad weather, either, but nothing affects the buses.

Don't mind at all; in fact, thank you very much. I didn't know that about Illuminations - :thumbsup2 . Are carriage rides scheduled while you are there, or do I need to call somewhere in advance? A carriage ride is how we are leaving at the end of our wedding, so I think it would be extra cool to have another one our last night in WDW.

You might even be able to schedule this at the time the fireworks are going off. Also, make sure the resort knows of your special event. I'm sure they will have many surprises waiting for you. You can purchase the wedding ears set or stop off and get a "Just married" button at City Hall. You will get extra attention by CM's while wearing them.

I have a couple questions for all the POFQ experts and fans.. First is about the pool. I have seen pics of it, but wonder if anyone has been there with teens and if they thought it was too kiddish. Also, what type of beds are there? When were the rooms last upgraded? Thanks!!

The only question I can answer for you is about the beds. There is either 2 full size beds or 1 king size bed. It was in 05 when they received fridges as far as upgrades go, but I'm not sure what you mean exactly by upgrades. Check out pages 29-31 and 36 of this thread for lots of pix of the resort.

We were there last August, and building 5 (or parts of it at least) were closed for refurbishment. It took at least a week, and I know they painted, but I'm not sure how much else they did. HTH!

DH and I walked around POFQ and POR last week after enjoying a delicious meal at Boatright's. We found Ol' Man Island and the great looking pool there, but when we walked around POFQ, we couldn't find the themed pool. We saw 2 pools that were more formal, but nothing like a Mardi Gras themed pool. How would we find it, if we were coming from Ol' Man Island? I know that I did see it once!
