I had dinner there twice, and enjoyed both entrees: the chicken caesar salad (huge portion for I think $6.95) and the chicken parmesan with salad. I would recommend both. Hope that helps!

Peggy

I also liked the Caesar salad, with or without chicken -- good and fresh. Actually, I loved it. I really looked forward to it.

I found the jambalaya to be decent enough -- it was well-made, but it wasn't spicy like I prefer it, and I understand that because they have to make it palatable for a wide range of people. I didn't think the seafood and chicken creole was anything special, especially because it had almost no seafood in it -- I think I found a little lost shrimp in there.

The cheesesteak sandwich was prety good, which is INCREDIBLY high praise from a Philadelphia native like myself.

Gotta try the beignets (pronounced ben-YAYS) at the bakery. They are little rectangles of dough that get deep fried for a coupla minutes. Each one puffs up with a huge air pocket (looks like an overstuffed ravioli or pierogi), and then they get smothered with powdered sugar. They come in orders of 3 or 6. They are good for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and any time in-between.:rotfl:

We thought the for breakfast the scrambled eggs were some of the best we'd had anywhere. The sausage gravy had too much flour in it so I wouldn't recommend that.

For lunch/dinner the grilled chicken sandwich and cheesburgers were the best. We tried the pizza, subs, steaks sandwiches, and a couple other things and they were fine but not as good as the first few things I mentioned.

Thanks...I'm making a list...checking it twice (for extra beignets):woohoo: I'm looking forward to my first stay at POFQ!:yay:

I have to tell y'all something that I think is funny. :wave2:

I'm a quilter, hence my user name, QuiltyMom (NOT Guiltymom as many have thought. That makes me laugh! Now, what could I be guilty of? Eating too much chocolate, buying too much fabric? Thinking too much about Disney? Hummm...)

Anyway, as any quilter will affirm, one of the ways you can purchase quilting fabric is by the Fat Quarter - otherwise known as a FQ. So, everytime I see "POFQ" I immediately think "Port Orleans Fat Quarter!". :rotfl2:

Well, at least I think it's funny! ::yes:: ;)

Gotta try a Muffaletta! They are a great taste of New Orleans.
ETA: QuiltyMom, you made me smile!

I quilt too and although I've never thought of it that way before, I'm sure I will now! It'll probably be as bad as the "it's a small world" song going through my head! LOL Thanks for the smile!

The beignets are great tho I was amazed that they have basically one person back there making them to order. The to order part I get- theyre best hot. But they do take a bit and while we always ate early-ish (done by 8 or so), I cant imagine when the food court is most crowded the wait for each individual order. You would think they would have two vats or several people at once making them!

I wondered about that also. She was making the pastry, scooping ice cream and serving dessert. Definitely one busy lady!

I've stayed at POFQ twice and maybe considering a 3rd time. I can't decide between here and Cont. I love POFQ, but Cont has a great location for my next trip. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any pics of a room with a king bed in it. I tried looking through the entire thread, but gave up. The pics here are fab. Thanks to all who have posted them.

I'm so pleased to discover this thread. I'm booking to stay at this resort for 15 nights in August. I really want to stay in a "preferred" location, which would people suggest? I wish I'd visited POFQ on my previous trips to WDW now but I'm sure I'm going to love it.

The preferred rooms are water view which could be pool or river. Unlike value resorts this does not mean you will be closer to the food court or bus stop. We were "upgraded" to a water view room last Aug in building #7-about as far away from everything as you can be-not that that it too far at POFQ. I personally wouldn't pay for a waterview room in a moderate resort.

I stayed at POFQ in May as well and we were in building 4 just steps from the bus stop and food court.

We will be going in about 5 weeks.. my brother's family and my parents will be joining us.

Are there such thing as 3 connecting rooms? Should I just request next to each other?

Also, DH will be going on a Segway Tour and needs to be in Epcot at 8:15am, will the buses start early enough?

Thanks...!!! :goodvibes

I'd like to know the answer to that as well. I have a group of 12 going in December.

There's no such thing as 3 connecting rooms--2 is the max. But next to/close to each other should not be a problem.

As for buses to Epcot, I'm not sure. They didn't use to have very good bus coverage for early morning activities (ADR's, etc.), but it sounds like things are improving. Since Norway (in World Showcase at Epcot) has a princess breakfast, I would guess they probably will have busses running. Just ask at the resort when you arrive. Worst case scenario, he might have to take a cab to get there on time. Have fun!

If it's an EMH morning then it shouldn't be an issue. BTW, if he's doing the 2 hr tour, he'll love it. I did.

thuderbird1 and skipperkim: Thanks for the responses!

Can't wait... 34 more days to go!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Slightly off topic here, but we were told the segways have a weight limit and that you can't ride them if you are over 200 pounds (which my fiance is.) Is that true??

From what I hear, they are not very strict about that...my brother is over 200 and he will be going with DH.. I think he is taking a chance!
