The “solution” to the placeholder mess

I got this email from DCL last night. They apparently have 3 placeholders (not 4) on courtesy hold for me until I call and give them a CC. Of course, I gave them a CC on board, but they didn’t charge it. And, because the deposit isn’t paid yet, my TA can’t do this for me.

The whole thing would be frustrating in normal times. But knowing that I’m looking at hours and hours on hold makes it so much worse.

Oh, I know it’s not just me. It still doesn’t make it right. They screwed up so now I have to sit on hold for hours. It’s a decidedly un-Disney experience.
 

I’m wondering for future reference if I should go to guest services to ensure my cc gets charged. I’ve done it through the app my last 3 cruises with no problem, but all before the upgrade mess. Sorry OP for your situation, but thanks for posting.

It wouldn’t help. On my last cruise I saw the payment didn’t go through for one if two rooms (did it on day 1 when I still had internet) and went to guest services and they said nothing they can do, it is all handled off ship and I’d have to call after the cruise.

Can't or won't? When I didn't get emails for my placeholders, I asked my TA if he had gotten any. He said no, gave Disney a call, and then sorted the whole thing out for me.

Can’t. I’m changing TA, so there is no record connecting her to my reservation.
 
I sailed in January and did the placeholder through guest services and gave them a credit card to charge the placeholder with, and for some unknown reason the credit card did not get charged and I got the same email you did regarding payment. I believe I called first thing in the morning and was on hold for 2+ hours just to give them my credit card info... I'm not looking forward to waiting on hold again when I find a cruise I want to book with the placeholder.
 
I was on the february cruise (Fantasy) and purchased 2 placeholders through the app, charged to my card on file, assigned to my TA on file and my purchase worked perfectly. Got my confirmation on board, my cc was charged twice, 2 placeholders, got my confirmation emails from dcl and my TA got hers. So it does work correctly for some folks. 🤷‍♀️
