Welcome to my PTR! I will be updating with pictures momentarily, but let me start with the cast and back story.
We are a family of four. Me, my husband and two sons (10 and 13) that live about an hour south of Chicago in a small farming town. My husband and I are both teachers in the town we live in. Until recently it was just our little family of four who lived here, but within the last year my parents and two grandmas and a grandfather have moved here. A little crazy! They don't get Disney but they tolerate my obsession.
Our last trip was about three years ago. We were among a lucky handful to receive a free dining pin code and went in June. It was hot, which is a no brainer going in June, but it broke records that year. That was an issue. The pin code was for free quick service dining, so we didn't upgrade. It was our first family trip and we didn't want to be tied down to ADRs. Big mistake. I couldn't convince my husband to take daily breaks back at the resort. He was determined to squeeze every minute out of the parks and it was exhausting. Another big mistake.
We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and got an upgrade to a pool view room in the mansion section. That was heavenly. We loved POR. Our first full day there we headed to Magic Kingdom and put a full day in. That night we were standing in line for the Dessert Party trying to contain my overtired 7 year old. As we entered and got to our table we noticed he was gone. He was there one second and the next he had disappeared. The CM at the entrance insisted he had come in with us. For those of you who have done this, you know that area is not that big, but we wasted time looking around that area. He hadn't, he had followed someone that looked like his dad out to Main Street. As you may also know the lights go down for the parade. Some kind people stayed with my other son, or even gave up their dessert party time to help us look. I'll never forget them. After 20 minutes of pure terror, a CM told me they had located him and were bringing him too us. He came dashing around the corner and many tears were shed. As we brought him back to the party, everyone cheered. All in all a happy ending, right? The only problem is it scarred my son for life. He is still terrified of the dark and not really fond of parades. I hope we can fix that this time round.
Four days into the trip the heat got to me and I passed out coming out of the Rose and Crown Pub and I hadn't anything to drink but water! How embarrassing! It did a number on me too. Sprained my ankle badly, bruised my shin bone and had multiple scraps and bruises everywhere. I looked like I'd been beaten up. My husband pushed me around in a wheelchair the last three days of our trip. It was interesting.
Those were some pretty a major headaches, but this time I know what I'm doing a bit more. We have TS credits every day, sometimes twice! I know how to battle the heat. My husband and I have lost almost 100 lbs between us! That will help! I'm insisting we take a break everyday and after the wheelchair incident last year, my husband is listening to me this time.
Next up, more info about the cast.
