I just purchased our first DVC at AKL today. My guide told me that our paper work would be in here in 4 days with my ID number than I could make my reservation than. Well 1 hour later he called me back and told me he had my ID number. So I was able to buy DVC and make my Aug. 2008 reservation all in one day. That was so easy. I am excited to be going "home" for the first time. I am sure I will be on the boards more often now.

That's one of the advantages of buying DVC direct from Disney instead of from the resales market -- you get in the system almost immediately and can begin making reservations. With resale, it can take 6-8 weeks!

I also made my first DVC purchase this morning with AKV! But my guide didn't give me my # and I'm jealous you were already able to make your ressie. I will have to call him tomorrow and beg for it!

Ooh - edited to add: I called tonight and his voice mail said he's out through Saturday. Guess I'm out of luck! Bummer!!

your member # is not needed to make your first reservation they can look you up by name . Thats what i did for my first trip in june.
