That Mickey sure is one smart cookie!! May 2011 CBR TR (update 08/13)

How exciting to have a potential trip in the works!

yes, very much so!

Hooray for a possible trip! I'm still trying to get DH to agree to go before fantasyland is completely finished! :scared1: I think I'll get him though! I bet you'll find a time that works for all of you. Good luck!

The whole FL timing throws me off too. I'm afraid that it could mean potentially crazy crowds at the wrong time. yet i can't wait to see it!

update coming very soon, i promise!

So- MSEP or Spectro?

MSEP has that nostalgia factor for me. It was the first Disney parade I ever saw. I was glad to see it again, but missed Spectro. I think Chris was less than impressed. Maya loved it- but she's never seen a parade she didn't care for. Neither hold a candle to my true love- the Boo To You Halloween Parade. That was the one thing missing from our trip.

Enjoy the parade....

James was still asleep, and Mara was tired and cold. We decided to call it a night. For once I was not upset by this idea. My feet had been burning ever since they were wet all afternoon. I hoped there were not blisters forming on the bottom of my feet.

Maya was wearing her castle outfit, and she simply must have a picture have her very own picture in front of a lit up castle. I happily obliged.

(i'll have to post this photopass one shortly- not on this computer)

After another stop at our favorite Main Street facilities, we made our way to bus stop 16.

The bus pulled up to Jamaica at 12:45. Moments later we were all in bed.

next up- some DTD excitement!

Your pictures of the parade look great! We are looking for a new camera. What kind do you have? Do you like it?

Wow! What a late night! The kids really were troopers, weren't they!

love the parade pics. I love the light parades but after watching 2008 vid I decided I like music from Spectro better!

MSEP is nice, but Spectro wins hands down for me as well. I think the music alone is 100 times better. But I was happily surprised by MSEP.

Spectro music is awesome! MSEP is nice, but Spectro is awesome!

It's hard to listen to without bouncing in your seat!

They were troopers! I"m not sure they would have made it without the late start and the rain keeping the sun away.

I have a Nikon Coolpix L100. For the most part, it takes nice pictures. It has a lot of settings, and as long as you are on auto (or the right setting) it does pretty good. its a little heavier than i'd like for a point and shoot, but over all, it does pretty good!

I'd rather see Spectro than MSEP, but after our last trip, I do think Boo to You might be the best Disney parade there is. Your Christmas trip sounds exciting! I hope it works out, but sometimes I think even when it doesn't, it's nice to at least have tried.

glad you are back! i hope you had a wondrful time!

i completely agree with you, i'm 100% on board that Boo To You is the best out there! If i lived there i might have to go see it a couple times a week. I love the gravedigger scene!

Christmas is only a slight possibility- but the real story is that it is a green light to get planning!

I've been neglecting the DISboards the past week or two. I ended up having to go out of town unexpectedly. Airline prices are crazy! They wanted $1200 for my ticket:scared1: Needless to say, i'm officially out of airline miles. It was the first time i traveled without kids since before Maya was born. You would think that would make an easier time. I had that thought too- and therefore got too lax. On the way back i had to go through the full body scanner because i forgot to pull my toiletries out. whoops! I decided i'd rather deal with the hassel of traveling with kids because i really missed them!

i have to catch up on everyones reports (and my own)- hopefully some later today.

And i guess its also time to switch out the closets. Our temps this week have ranged from highs of 89 and lows of 36.

I can't wait to get pictures of the kids in their halloween gear and share them. What costumes do you have in your house?

I have two little pirate costumes. Right now they are in the suitcase because we're leaving in a few days. Dd has seen her costume, but still has no idea about the trip.

My son's is the Jack Sparrow.

The head scarf was too small but he would not have kept it on anyway. He hates having anything on his head.

My daughter's says it's Pirate Cutie.

It did not come with the sword but I don't think she'd keep up with it if it did, so I didn't buy it separate. Those are boot covers on the feet, but she has black boots. Hope she doesn't miss her boots. I already packed them. :rolleyes1

those are really cute! your dd must be more organized than mine- if she asked me for her boots i'd just say "well, then you should have put them where they belong".... she'd never know any difference

you must be getting so very excited! its so close!

She'd only miss them if she wanted to wear them believe me. Her bed has 2 drawers underneath where her shoes should go, but…well it doesn't always happen. She would turn her room into a disaster area looking then burst into tears, so I'm hoping we make it. She wears uniforms to school so I should be safe. Picture day is Monday but thankfully the outfit calls for her brown boots.

I am very excited. I'm looking forward to getting away and to seeing Sea World with the children. I still have quite a bit to do, but I have checked off a slew of things on my check lists. Thanks to my walk-in closet, I'm almost done packing. I'm hoping to finish tomorrow night after I do the children's laundry.

Weather.com is showing (or was last I checked) scattered t-storms for the 28th which is the day I have planned to do Happy Harbor and the Spooktakular, but the good thing about that is, we can always switch up and do it Saturday and do things inside on the 28th. It could always change. It's changed several times since I started checking. I'd just rather do it on Friday since school will be in for the local children.

I am not taking my laptop on the trip, so it will be strange not getting on here everyday. I am doing a PTR for this trip and I'm going to attach the TR to the bottom of it once we get back. I've been stalking the cruise section so I could book us on a summer 2013 trip on the Dream on opening day (mission accomplished) and I've been doing research for our trip to WDW next June. Needless to say I need a vacation from the lap top. Once I'm done with my Sea World TR, I'll probably replace the Sea World ticker in my signature with a link to the report. Then, I get to start on my June 2012 WDW PTR.

hopefully the weather will change for your schedule. if not, hopefully it will be short lived and light rain only.

what an awesome cruise to be on!!!!!!

for some reason your ptr isn't showing in your siggie, but i'm going to go find it.

Sunday, May 16th

I'm so excited about this day. Today's schedule is downtown Disney for Maya's special surprise, Epcot for the Pixar Celebration, and our one and only signature meal of the trip.

But I'm also stiff. and my feet are killing me. Although there is nothing that could be popped, there are puffy spots right on the pads of each foot. If I try to carry myself in a way that makes me somewhat avoid them, I'll look like I'm wearing a full diaper. :lmao: Blister Band-Aids it is then. Good thing I brought two boxes!

Once again our Disney friends left us a letter. Today, Maya has been invited to Bibbity Boppity Boutique at Downtown Disney. I asked each of the kids what one special thing they would pick on their next trip to Disney. Maya picked BBB. I picked Harmony for James. It must stink to have a limited vocabulary. :rotfl:

Actually, James seems to really be increasing his vocabulary this week. (He's a bit of a late talker). I'm proud to say he now can include Mickey, duck, goofy, swim, bus, Minnie, and pirates among his words. I just love the toddler accent he has when he says Mi-hee and Wo-hee.(woody)

It's slightly cooler. In upper 80's today. We're finally out of the record temps we had the first few days. Oddly enough, at home they are having record lows. When we left it was about 88 day and 70 night. Today is 56 day and 44 night. What??

It take us forever again to get out of the room again. Somehow I predicted that... told them we needed to leave at 9. At 9:20 we left our room.

Now up until now, we had generally had good luck with catching a bus. But of course, when we had an appointment, our bus was not so timely.

waiting for the bus

MK, AK, Epcot, DHS, internal, MK, Epcot, AK, DHS- even these seemed more spread than they had been. Finally a bus rolls around at 10:00, after we had been waiting more than 30 minutes.
**note** this was not the normal bus service

I had heard that the DTD bus was not as frequent at CBR; luckily I had built a little extra wiggle room in. Someone else posted on their TR that the buses had traffic problems that day due to road closures for the Iron Man race. Maybe that had something to do with it?

First stop was at Typhoon Lagoon. I was secretely wishing I was there.

The walk from the bus stop to World of Disney seemed as if it was taking forever. My blister bandaids had already shifted- and they had literally glued my feet to my flip flops! I was afraid to move my feet in fear that any blisters that may have finished forming would pop if I did. I wore the same brand of flip flops last trip, so I really do think the issue was with the rain.

Maya checked in and was given a sheet with her hair choices. I was beyond ecstatic that she chose the simplest option.

DSCN2157.jpg

I handed off her Tiana gown which we had brought from home. Today she would be getting the crown package- hair, nails, and makeup. Here's my princess in the dressing room, pre transformation.

DSCN0985.jpg

DSCN0987.jpg

Nadira, her fairy godmother in training introduced herself. She asked where Maya was from. "4775 S-- I--- Rd Memphis TN. She did that every time she was asked that question.

Maya looked nervous during most of the styling. We don't do that much at home. Its not because i dont offer- she just hates having her hair brushed.

James entertained himself with Mickey stickers.

DSCN0998.jpg

DSCN0999.jpg

I started to get nervous when Nadira was pulling up her hair. There is a reason Maya's ponytails are worn low. The top of her head does not lay flat. I was certain that she would have the same issue. But she brushed it onto a pony, added 47,345,876 gallons of gel, and had the desired result!

Soon it was time for the finishing touches and the big reveal!

BBB is such a fun thing to do with little girls at Disney, I just wish it had been around when I was little!

How can you leave us in suspense??? Fun update! Can't wait to hear how Maya liked it!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Love the stickers on the James' head...he appears to be a ham like my grandson! Miss Maya is gonna break a LOT of hearts!...Poppa better keep that shotgun loaded with rocksalt, and close-at-hand! ;)

Good luck on the Christmas trip! We really enjoy it during the holidays and put up with the crowds because the parks are decorated so beautiful. We are gonna be secretly packing this weekend for our "quickie" trip next weekend...first MNSSHP...and so far, neither of us have spilled the beans! Only taking the youngest two, the 19 year old is off at college in KC and has commitments for her school. :guilty: Ah well...she'll be there for most of "the big trip" in December....(same time you are thinking of going). Neither of our older girls' kids are quite "old enough", (although I admit, Master James has begun to change my view on taking toddlers to WDW!

I've sure been enjoying your report....Thanks for sharing!
