That Foo's Boo Is Incredible!!! - Jan 14 TR *THE END 7/19 Pg. 51*

I'm so happy you put up a "review" of the Springfield area and food. I have never really liked the food at Universal either, so it's awesome to know THEY NOW HAVE TOTS. Tots are pretty much the perfect food and I could eat them every day (which says a lot about me, I know). I read the rest of your post, too, but tots is what stuck with me. ;)

I vaguely noticed the same thing about the Hulk last time I rode it, but that was back in November 2012 so I'm assuming the ride hasn't gotten better since then (though I do still love it). Hopefully it won't end up becoming one of those coasters I can no longer ride because it ruins my neck for the rest of the day. Yes, I'm 1,000 years old. :rolleyes1

Haha, yup they are VERY strict on the no photography. I got yelled at on Jurassic Park once. It never happened again though, so I guess they were successful, lol.

Ooh yeah I agree about the Hulk. This is the one ride in Orlando that will give me a headache. Perhaps if Disney ever buys out the Marvel license it will get that much needed TLC.

I have even heard they will chase you away if you're taking up a table for no reason at the Simpsons Food court.

Interesting about the food in Springfield because I so agree. The food in Uni is generally pretty bad. Glad this was at least good.

Ah boo, no Transformers. I'm really anxious to ride this.

But MUMMY!!!!! Yeah. Love This!!! OMG so much!!!! If SeaWorld hadn't opened Manta, this would still be my #1. How sad that my top 2 rides aren't in Disney, but that just shows how good these rides are.

It's disappointing to hear that the Hulk has not aged well. Alex raves that this is favorite coaster of all time, and he's always telling me it's smoother than most rides. Now I'm not sure if I'll try it when the opportunity arises. :confused3

Glad to hear there's actually some decent food in Universal now. I know most people left and went to Citywalk when they became hungry. And I was at Peco Bills (I think) when they tried out that organized seating, and it worked out great. The Cast Members were really on point in directing people, and it took a bunch of stress out of the whole, "WHERE DO WE SIT?! Oh my gosh there are no seats, I'm going to have to eat with the tray on my knees!" Just one less thing to worry about.
And I can imagine in a fairly new restaurant like the one you ate it that whole process was needed.

Oh my, that chicken and waffle sandwich looks good. I'd try it, for sure. :thumbsup2

Hi Danielle! Back on the DIS and trying to get caught up…..

Glowing Yeti on PP is a little freaky!!!

I love the Gaston mug for the Foo’s Boo! We need to get one of those. ;)

So jealous you got the Dumbo popcorn “bucket” - we meant to get one when we were at DLR in January. We have the Mickey ghost one from several years ago though, and it appears to be much more functional than the Dumbo one.

I loved hearing about Splitsville! It sounds like so much fun. I have never taken Willow bowling before; that is something I will have to think about doing sometime when we are back at WDW.

I always enjoy reading about Universal. We have never been but only because I don’t think it makes sense until Willow is taller and has read the HP books. ;) Looks like you had a great time there! I have to say that the personal space thing would really get to me - maybe I’m glad we’re waiting a while longer….. I do love that Krusty Burger exists though……

So sorry your mom was ill - that is no way to spend any vacation days. :(

I loved the Wizarding World, but I agree. SO CRAMPED. And we went two weeks after it opened, so there were a lot of people in very little space.

So confused by the teeny tiny Butterbeer! Geesh, that looks more like a sample.

My dad and I actually had the discussion, and we also prefer LeFou's Brew! I just love that frozen apple taste with hint of toasted marshmallow.

Seuss Land is adorbs! I do agree with your assessment of the Cat in the Hat ride, though. It could be a lot better.

TOTS!!! Okay, Universal gets points for that.

So when my mom was pregnant with me, she and the family went to Universal, and she had to sit in one of the little carts on the ET ride because she couldn't get on the bike, and my dad still laughs about it :confused3 So technically, I've been on the ET ride too. I just don't remember it.

MINIONS MINIONS MINIONS. They are going to be what gets me to Universal proper (we've only been to IOA).

I did Mummy at Universal California. SO GOOD. Glad Yeti wasn't cursed!

DH got camera shamed over the loudspeaker once too. Hasn't tried it since! Lol
I rode the Hulk last (and first for that matter) two years ago and thought it was surprisingly smooth, but I have nothing to compare to either.
Glad to hear the food in the newly expanded Simpsons area was better than universals usual (I'm not a fan!) i think I like the sound of the employee directing traffic to the tables, sounds like a good plan.
Too bad about transformers!
I really like The Mummy ride too, it is short isn't it?

Universal looks like so much fun when I see it in TR's! :cool1: Why can't you take pictures on the Suess ride, is it really that great? I'll have to remember that so they don't camera shame me if I ever go there...

So the Hulk coaster isn't that great? :( That's disappointing, one of the reasons I want to go to Universal is the coasters!!

Springfield looks SOOOOOO awesome! I'm a huge Simpsons fan, I think a majority of a Universal time would be spent there, I still can't believe I've never been on the Simpsons ride! I'm really hoping to do Universal this year but I can never get past the price of tickets! The food from Krusty Burger actually looks good, and I have to have a Flaming Moe in my life...and Duff Beer...

And those napkins!!! Did you steel a million of them, because I would have!!:hyper:

OMG!!!! Happy World Land!!! From Tiny Toons Summer Vacation right? My sister and I were obsessed with that movie, we watched it every day, I even remember the Happy World Land song...:rotfl2:

My sister got Camera Shamed on PoTC on our first trip to WDW. Either we weren't paying attention or she just didn't care and they came over the loudspeaker. Now, of course, it seems no one cares because people do it all the time with no announcements. :sad2:

I'm not a Simpsons fan, I've probably only ever seen like 5 episodes.... But Springfield in US looks fun!

Great Universal updates. I'm lost reading it all having no memory of my time there when I was a teen! :rotfl2:

Glad you found some food that was decent! The waffles look like Eggo's lol. :lmao:

Another great update and I must say I'm suddenly craving a chicken sandwich on a waffle.... Had my first one last weekend at a place in Boston and it was amazing! I've only been to universal one time and it was a long time ago and never had any real interest in going back but I'm second guessing that now after reading this and seeing some of the rides., Really hope your mom's not feeling well didn't last long....She's a trooper I can tell.

Man, it was so good! We have a chicken and waffle's place near Chicago that I need to check out sometime.

It's worth visiting Universal if you haven't been in a while. There are some attractions that definitely make it worthwhile.

I would agree with Cat in the Hat being the equivalent to Journey in to Imagination. It was cute but a bit slow for my taste. It did look like the book come to life though!

I love that Hulk coaster! I am also a huge fan of Cedar Point! I am so upset it has been two years since I went!

That Simpsons food court looks cool! I may have to check it out in August!

ET is one ride I will not be going on! I have been terrified of him since I was 2 and half! It's actually that ride that scarred me and I have never been able to watch the full movie.

I can't wait to try the Mummy I have heard great things!

Can't wait to see what's next!

You are right, it did make the book come more to life. But it's a little on the meh side. I mean, I'll do it. It's just not a necessity.

It's been even longer since I've been to Cedar Point! 7 years! I can't believe it's been that long.....I'm getting old......

Well that would make sense not to go on ET. I was scared of ET for the longest time when I was a kid too. However, that's because my best friend had a creepy ET doll, and my brother was a jerk that strung it to something and made it fly around our room in the middle of the night during a sleepover. I don't know why that didn't scar me for life honestly....:rotfl2:

You'll love the Mummy! It's pretty great.

With the exception of ET, I've never been on any of those rides. Mark may have done Hulk, but I don't remember.

I'm not a fan of the Simpsons (my kids love it), but I love the theme of the restaurant area...very cute. Lunch looks rather yummy.

So all new things for you then! LOL.

The theming is really cute. It's definitely lost a little bit on non-Simpson's fans, but they did a pretty good job.

Super happy to be reading updates about Universal! especially all the stuff i didn't get to the only time I've been lol! I'm super excited for Sept/Nov when I'll actually get to see all of it, I am super excited about krusty burger, i won't lie, bahahha!!

Yay! You'll get to see everything. I think you'll have fun.

I enjoyed the Simpson's food court. Not sure if we're going to eat there again this time, but it's definitely on the list if we can't find something else that we deem satisfactory. LOL

The plan is to actually only be there a 1/2 day each, so maybe I'll get to eat in Disney. Which would make me exponentially happier.

That burger looks yummy! What a fun food court.

So - I did not know that coasters age. I mean I know they get older, but it never occurred to me that this affects their performance. I haven't ridden the Hulk since Nicholas was about 7 years old (sheesh) and I remember it was VERY smooth. What actually happens to it to make it grow rougher with time? I didn't know that could happen.

So your dad is going to Cedar Point before he gets too old. :rotfl2: Love it! I feel the same way!

Fun update.

Love the Mummy - cool ride but I did get stuck on it once and that was NOT fun! Especially since I had the gate closed down way to tight over my legs. :faint:

It is really cool. The food was pretty decent, so I was mostly happy with that.

The thing about coasters is that they naturally age. Steel coasters tend to last better than wooden, but they still age a bit. The cars stay on the track, and you have to think about the fact that they run on a constant basis. It's like they get looser. And I don't mean that in a scary way, it's just the only way I can quantify it. I just mean it more like when they first open, they're really tight, and that contributes to the smoothness. But as they age, they tend to loosen up. I do have to say though, the build of the coaster will contribute to that, and I hold the opinion that some coaster manufacturers are better than others. I believe Hulk is a B&M, and in my experience, they tend to not age as well as say, an Intimin.

Because these rides are open 365 days a year, they need to go on regular refurb schedules. Track replacement and the like. It's why Disney does it, as much as we complain when the rides are down. Seasonal parks have the luxury of a time when they're closed, so they can do that kind of work during the offseason. These parks don't have that luxury, so sometimes I think they run them longer than they should, and then finally decide to take them down for refurb when they have to.

Yeah, we're probably going to do a Cedar Point weekend. Head down on a Friday night, come back on Sunday night. He's stoked to go, and he's very excited that he gets senior pricing!

Oooohhh, nothing worse than the lap bar being pressed down too far! I've had that happen before when it was a shoulder harness. Not pleasant at all.

I'm so happy you put up a "review" of the Springfield area and food. I have never really liked the food at Universal either, so it's awesome to know THEY NOW HAVE TOTS. Tots are pretty much the perfect food and I could eat them every day (which says a lot about me, I know). I read the rest of your post, too, but tots is what stuck with me. ;)

TOTS DUDE! THEY HAVE TOTS!

Entire reason to go there in my opinion. They were also perfect tots. ;)

No, it hasn't gotten any better. I may or may not ride it again in the near future. It's not my favorite coaster (sorry.....been on too many in my life), so it's not a must do for me. I'm much more for themed rides, because I've been on many fabulous coasters throughout the country.

I'm 1,000 years old too. I think about that when I get off rides. "Man, my neck hurts!"

Yelling works, I'm telling you! At least it works on me. I hate being yelled at in public.

It does need some TLC. I figured they would have known that by now, but maybe they haven't gotten the hint.

It's good that they run people out of the area! Disney needs to do that. You no pay, you no sit! :rotfl2:

I really wanted to ride Transformers too. The only reason I wasn't more irritated was because I knew I would be coming back. Because if that wasn't happening, I would have been miffed.

It's okay that your favorite rides aren't in Disney. I forgive you. :lmao:

It's disappointing to hear that the Hulk has not aged well. Alex raves that this is favorite coaster of all time, and he's always telling me it's smoother than most rides. Now I'm not sure if I'll try it when the opportunity arises. :confused3

I'm not going, the ride was definitely not the smoothest for me. It wasn't the worst I've been on. Trust me, I've been on some disasters, it just wasn't the way I remembered it.

They were trying out the organized seating at Pecos Bills. I don't know why they didn't keep up with it. I really think they need to.

Oh, it was really good. The maple sauce definitely made it.
Hi Danielle! Back on the DIS and trying to get caught up…..

Glowing Yeti on PP is a little freaky!!!

So sorry your mom was ill - that is no way to spend any vacation days. :(

That's okay! I subbed to your Disneyland trip a while back, and I just haven't had the chance to get all caught up!

I totally drink out of that Gaston mug regularly. :rotfl2:

It is certainly not a functional popcorn bucket, but that's not why we get them, right? LOL.

They have kids bowling too thankfully! With the bumpers and the little thing to roll the ball down.

I would certainly wait until she's taller, because at a minimum I would take a kid until they were tall enough to go on Forbidden Journey.

I loved the Wizarding World, but I agree. SO CRAMPED. And we went two weeks after it opened, so there were a lot of people in very little space.

So confused by the teeny tiny Butterbeer! Geesh, that looks more like a sample.

I did Mummy at Universal California. SO GOOD. Glad Yeti wasn't cursed!

You should have seen my face when I got the butterbeer! I was completely confused. The employee probably thought I had an issue or something.

I do enjoy the frozen apple. I think I don't compare them because of that whole debate when they were going to release the LeFou's Brew. People were all over message boards like "Oh, Disney is desperate because they're trying to answer back with a butterbeer imitation". Ugh. So I am Switzerland.....

So you have ridden ET! Albeit while your Mom was pregnant with you, but still. :rotfl2:

Minions are amazing. Just completely amazing.

DH got camera shamed over the loudspeaker once too. Hasn't tried it since! Lol

All it takes is one shaming, and you'll never attempt to do it again. I'm convinced.

It's not horrible, I just think it's not as smooth as it used to be.

Listen, I'm certainly not a fan of Universal food normally either. This was much better than normal.

Yes, it's too short! It gets me every time. Like "awwww, it's over!"

Universal looks like so much fun when I see it in TR's! :cool1: Why can't you take pictures on the Suess ride, is it really that great? I'll have to remember that so they don't camera shame me if I ever go there...

OMG!!!! Happy World Land!!! From Tiny Toons Summer Vacation right? My sister and I were obsessed with that movie, we watched it every day, I even remember the Happy World Land song...:rotfl2:

Universal has a really strict policy in general regarding photos on rides. Not sure exactly why. May be because they're also really anti loose article, and a camera is a loose article I'm guessing.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, it's a good coaster! It's just not as smooth as it used to be.

Honestly, it works best to go to Universal for a few days instead of just one. It makes the sting of the cost of the tickets go away a bit.

AAAHHHH, yes Tiny Toon's How I Spent My Summer Vacation! Best movie ever. I can quote so many things from that movie, and I haven't watched it in years!

"There's a car, there's a car, there's a car!"
"Aminals can be so capricious...."
"HAPPY GO PUKEY!!"

Days I tell you.:lmao:

My sister got Camera Shamed on PoTC on our first trip to WDW. Either we weren't paying attention or she just didn't care and they came over the loudspeaker. Now, of course, it seems no one cares because people do it all the time with no announcements. :sad2:

I'm not a Simpsons fan, I've probably only ever seen like 5 episodes.... But Springfield in US looks fun!

I agree! People do it all of the time now, and it's just frustrating. I don't mind the use of the camera, but people are so dumb with their flashes. Oh, especially during Wishes! Like really dude? You think your flash will help?

Great Universal updates. I'm lost reading it all having no memory of my time there when I was a teen! :rotfl2:

Glad you found some food that was decent! The waffles look like Eggo's lol. :lmao:

Hahaha, they did look kind of like Eggos!

You are reminding me of all the new things at IoA and US since I have been.

I have done the Hulk so that is not new but yikes just about everything else.

Someday I guess. Good way to get variety for lunch.

Very glad for no happy go pukey. :lmao:

We've been to Universal in California, but not in Florida. It just so hard to go offsite from WDW, but it seems easier in CA, don't you think?? And, we are not Harry Potter fans - that is, we have not read any of the books, but since looking at your pictures...I said to DH yesterday that maybe it's time we read them!! The theme-ing does look really cool.

Nice Universal update. It does look fun with all the themed areas there. Someday we'll check it out...

Way behind so I hope I remember everything!!

So sad PUSH is gone and I never saw him! :sad2:

I posted about my BOG lunch this AM and I had the same meal...I agree that it was so tender! I really enjoyed it. And, I "stole" Foo's Boo for my TR because now that's the only way I think of it! :lmao: I will probably never think Lefou's Brew again...thanks to your mom!!!

Agree on Country Bear's! And Splitsville is on my list to do! I am so excited to go there!

Universal: I am so glad to now look at pictures and know exactly where things are!! :cool1: I paid $4.75 for Butterbeer and it was twice that size last weekend. I loved the HP area and I know nothing about HP! But they did an amazing job on that area! Okay...and Hulk was my favorite!! Of course I never rode before so nothing to compare it to but we were in love with that coaster!! I was so disappointed in Rip Ride Rocket! I expected more! I didn't get to do a lot that I wanted so I guess I need to plan another visit! ;) Oh and the Minions...:lovestruc

I may interrupt my TR since I have lots of thoughts on Universal and comparing to Disney. No one I know is able to discuss with me! :sad1::rotfl:
