I had a crazy personal/work day yesterday and missed the announcement about the Star Wars Character Meals, and now everything is booked on our HS day (May 4). I feel so bummed that I missed out, yet logically I know that my kids (DS4 and DS7) would not even know the difference. Get this--they haven't even seen Star Wars yet! (Although I do plan to watch with them for the first time before our trip). I guess part of it is genuine disappointment for myself because I would have liked to have done it, but I also think part of it is just the feeling of "missing out" on the newly announced "big thing." Does anyone else feel this way? Anyway, what can you do? I'll keep checking in case anyone cancels, but this is going to be a tough one! If I don't get it, I'm sure we'll have an awesome trip anyway, right? :thumbsup2 (Trying to keep my chin up here).

Did you call the Dining number? That is the only way to book the character meals for SciFi (breakfast) and H&V (dinner).

Keep trying. Call every day if you have to. I'm sure a slot for either or both will open up!

I hope something opens up for you. I would even try the day before if you don't get something before then. Good luck and pixiedust:

Smack yourself and tell yourself to knock it off!! Yuur children are going to have a vacation that very ,very many children never get to have and will have a great time.
If they haven't even watched Star wars why are you stressing? Save it for next time. Why try to do everything in one trip. There needs to be something to look forward to. Wait until they have seen it and fallen in love with the whole Star Wars thing or maybe they see them and they aren't their thing.

Enjoy the trip you have planned and quit worrying about it or trying to get it for Kids who don't even Know anything about Star wars!! and don't even know about the dinner! They and you will be fine. Save it for another trip.

Sometimes the anticipation is sweeter than the actual thing.

Thanks, all! I actually didn't realize that you needed to call and couldn't book online. That never occurred to me! I just called and was able to get a ressie for 7:05pm. That is much later than I would prefer, but at least I have one for now. I'll be watching Star Wars with the boys in a couple of weeks and if they do not care for it, I will cancel! Thank you for the tips!

I feel your pain because this trip has become an obsession!!! I feel like I can never take a break because I might miss something - first the A&E fast pass, almost missed star wars, (im)patiently waiting for BOG FP+ and SDMT!!! I was in a two hour meeting the other day getting anxious because I needed to keep checking for a Chef Mickey reservation cancellation since I missed out on that one!!!! I would definitely keep checking though, I think a lot of people took multiple days / meals - I was one of them. I took two for breakfast and then cancelled one when I figured out which day I wanted. Also, maybe try for a different day? We already had Hollywood and Vine bfast and wanted the Sci Fi bfast so we took an early Sci Fi on the day we were planning to go to Epcot.... Or you could do the dinner and Fantasmic one night??

Yay! I'm glad that worked out for you. Ewok Chip and Dale, Jedi Mickey, Leia Minnie, Darth Goofy and Trooper Donald will be at H&V for dinner so your boys shouldn't be frightened of them... Enjoy!!

Time for a Weekend Movie Marathon! :thumbsup2

I wish they would do these meals all the time. My DH and DS's are all big Star Wars Geeks. Even though they are older they would think it was cool.

Same here. I didn't book b/c I didn't want the crowds of SWW, but wish they did this character dining all the time.

It's available every day May 4 - June 15 if you didn't want to attempt a weekend.

What's weird is I am not even there for SWW! I would not want to go there when the parks are so crowded. May 4 is prior to the beginning of SWW and it was a recommended HS date per EasyWDW. Only after making all my ressies did I hear that "May the Fourth be with You" is a "thing." They are starting these SW character meals prior to the SWW. I am very anxious that the park will be much more crowded than I wanted to deal with, but what can you do? I guess just try to join in the fun?! :confused3

As a side note - if you're going to be showing them Star Wars for the first time and they don't know anything about it at all.. I'd recommend (un-intrusively) filming their watching of Darth telling Luke the big secret to their relationship. My daughter's reaction was priceless and I really wish that I had captured that moment. I wasn't a huge Star Wars fan before watching the original 3 with her, but seeing it through her eyes gave me a much bigger appreciation for it.

Thanks for the tip, BebopBaloo! What a cute idea!

You're welcome! She was 6 when she first saw it and her mouth fell open and she was saying things like ,"What? What did he say!? What!" She doesn't typically talk at all during a movie. Priceless.

So cute!!! Unfortunately, DD was told that secret in kindergarten by the boys in her class, well before she ever saw Star Wars!!! In fact, she announced it to us when we watched the first Star Wars movie. She has only seen the original and she is 8, so I guess it is time to pull out the rest of them!

Aw, bummer that the secret got out!
