Yikes, talk about the Disney magic saving us!
This is my first time planning a trip to Disney (when I was a kid, the adults took care of everything, well, now I am the adult!) and I didn't know that you had to pay for your trip in advance, 45 days out. Having just finished putting on my wedding, I assumed -- wrongly -- that Disney would be ok with getting paid 2 weeks in advance. After all, everybody else was! *sigh* I should have known better. And luckily, my job teaches me to pay attention and to build in redunancy, because you never know when you can avert disaster merely by thinking ahead.
I decide, since the dates for our honeymoon are coming up and since I'd just spent an entire hour on the phone with Expedia (long story), to double check that payment date. Something just didn't seem right.
So, I email my travel agent about when we need to pay. She emails me back, in a state: "OMG, you have to pay by 10pm tonight!!! You mean you haven't done it yet???"
Um, no. Whoops! I give her the CC info and she takes care of it all. Whew!! Then she calls me -- "You're really lucky, somehow your date got extended, you were supposed to pay on July 25th originally! But it's ok, it's all taken care of now".
So, thankfully, though we missed the first payment deadline by a mile and almost missed the second one, we're still going. Something tells me that things would have gone very badly if we'd tried to pay 2 weeks out! My travel agent refuses to tell me about what would have happened, so it *must* be bad!
But I can heave a big ol' sigh of relief because now it's all signed, sealed, and paid for. We got a Magic Your Way package with free dining and that means that we have our room, transportation, our food, our tickets (parkhoppers, but no water parks) and at least two ADR's taken care of and completely paid for. Well, one is for La Nouba, but we had to make a reservation in advance, so that counts! LOL! We're also booked for the Aloha dinner show, which fulfills a desire that has stuck with me for almost 30 years!
I am so very glad I double checked everything and listened to my instincts.
And now that there's a big chunk of savings missing from our joint account it's all becoming very real
We're going to Disneyworld and we're going to spend a whole week there without anybody but each other!! I am so excited, and DH is too.
Our travel agent is working on getting us the rest of our ADR's, I hope we can get what we want, but if not, well, we'll wing it. Based on everybody's photos and reviews, we won't starve! And I hope she can get us a room with a king bed, it seems pretty silly to have two doubles on our honeymoon! *grin*
I can't believe I'm actually going back. And my hindbrain is excited too -- no parents, no teachers, we are the ones who get to choose what we do this time. It's going to be a week of pure bliss. Because I am choosing, right now, to not let the bad stuff (and there will be irritants and disappointments, already I have learned that the only roller coaster I ride, Space Mountain, will be closed, and I've been wrestling with the airline) get to me.
We are honeymooning at Walt Disney World, what could be better than that?
Whitewater (and for our 1st anniversary, DH is already talking about a cruise to Western Mexico, Los Angeles, Cabo, Acapulco, etc . . . maybe I can talk him into going a bit early and spending a day or two at DL!)
