Thanx MIB999999

Wow! That would be awesome MIB999999!!! It's always tough competition between my parents and myself. We haven't maxed out yet, but I have had the highest score of the 3 of us (personal best that is. they still get more than me at a time sometimes). Definately a lot more fun that way unless you like looking like an expert to people...I like that too... :p

I'd like to see what the scores would be for you guys if you did that. Could be interesting :)

Yeah that would be pretty interesting. As long as we don't get bad guns. I can't believe I got 999,999 with the cricket. I don't know what they did with those guns, but they are so annoying. It is so hard even having two lasers shooting at the same thing. When I was on with Chris, I relied on my aiming skills. I pictured where the gun was in front of me the last time I got 999,999. Then I could locate my laser better. It really is like 5 times better when you have some good challenges. Keeps you on your toes. The only difference is when you get off the ride. You won't have then is shock and awe about your score because they are as good as you and have gotten that score many times.

I swear the laser if off with the cricket. Every time I get that one I always aim too high...which would have been just right for the other gun. It drives me crazy...same thing for my parents. We always make fun of each other if we get it. I think my best with that gun was in the 400,000s but once my dad (who gets 400,000 and 500,000s normally) got under 50,000 with the darn thing! And he didn't get the bonus either...it was terrible!!

I know they are the worst. That is why I said I can't believe I got 999,999 with it. IF you have ever noticed, all the alienators have the laser beam and under it is another hole that has the sensor. That is what picks up the score off the alien and gives you your points. Well the cricket only has one hole that has the laser and sensor built in together. You would think that would be better, but this is like a 3 in 1 printer. You can get all 3 devices in one but the quality of each one will lack. I think that is why it sucks. The laser has to shoot higher so it doesn't cross with the sensor. I don't know, they should either fix them or get rid of them. I love holding the cricket because it is smaller and really comfortable not to mention stylish. They just need to improve it.

I'm sooo jealous of you guys that live close to US:( I'm gonna have to arrange a yearly (or more)lol trip just so I can go on MIB! I still think Universal and Hersheypark should get together :p

If you guys ever decide to have a MIB shoot-a-thon, we are so there. My teen sons are addicted and we have annual passes burning a hole in our pockets. We are definitely not on the same caliber as y'all point wise but we'd love to watch the masters shoot.

Bev

phamton...I'll take on you and your sons. :)
You live in the Orlando area? Very cool. I already have about 12 tentative trips planned...all before Christmas. Yay!

FlyFly_Eclipse will tape the Ghostbusters like 10 times and I'll do the Grinchmas show 10 times. I only go for the acapella preshow. Plus, there's a brunette singer who's pretty cute. Gosh, I feel 16 again... :)

We'd love to meet you at MIB sometime. We aren't very good yet but we love it. As I just mentioned in another post, we just moved to Orlando from Texas a month ago and we absolutely love it here. We purchased 2 year annual passes (the Burger King coupon special) for Universal and PAP's for Disneyworld.

Bev

That's great!
We were going to take advantage of the 2-year but had just renewed our annual pass in March and therefore we wouldn't have saved much money since the deal had to be redeemed by September (I think??). But we are planning to renew again! :) I'd go insane if we couldn't!!

Must be nice living close to the parks. We have a good 2 1/2 hour drive.

Here. I do give kudos to the man of the hour MIB999999 for creating the guide. However we have to remember he wrote this years ago and never updated. Why should he have to if he doesn't want to. Now I know in that period of time he knows a lot more than he use to in his guide. I have updated his guide and off of another person's Chris. This is Edward's Handbook Version 3.0. This is more detailed adding a few more touches that makes the 999,999 a lot easier to get to, even maybe making that dream a reality. With my guide, I hit 999,999 everytime. You can to with the other 2 guides, but as I explained earlier, this guide is just a tad more detailed and easier.

You know, I think it's great, Dogg, that you have made your own guide and that it gives you pleasure. I have held off saying anything, but I really can't anymore. I'm curious because you've mentioned a number of times that your guide is more detailed, and easier. Now, I have looked at your guide (or post, rather) that you linked in this thread, and also at your webpage and while the guide that includes pictures is nice and gives people a visual, I fail to see how your one page guide(the post on here amounts to one page, I know the photo guide is 2, but it's the same text, I believe) is more detailed (as you say) than MIB9's 6 page handbook (I included the first page since it gives some general tips) ?

Your guide is different than his, and for you, it's easier...but you started off giving credit to him and Chris, and have gone beyond that and have been tooting your horn over your guide and making negative remarks about MIB9's. It's not 2 or 3 years old...it's almost 2, but the ride hasn't changed. Yes, there have been some new discoveries that yield some big points, but it's not meant to be a guide to guarantee 9's everytime, without effort, it's meant to give some big-point tips to those who want to improve their score, and make 9's a strong probability. In all actuality, over these 2 years, many things have been added through discussion here, including the drop down aliens and the big eye-ball, but there were times when Kevin was reluctant to add things because it shouldn't be TOO easy! We can't have EVERYONE getting 9's! You have different targets, not necessarily better, but different. They were all on the ride when the handbook was written, but MIB9's had his thoughts, ideas, and habits and he gets 9's more often than not. He didn't write his handbook to be a self-serving, ego-booster...he wrote it as a post on these boards because he hit 9's on a regular basis because he's ridden it over 1000 times, and many of us talked him into telling us his secrets.
I think, as I said, it's great that you have your own, and you gave him and Chris "credit" but calling MIB9's "the man of the hour" and saying your guide is easier and more detailed sort of takes the sincerity out of it, IMO.

I know, I'm biased, so I went back and read the entire handbook thread to see where the lesser detail was, and if one page that Dogg wrote has more detail than 6 pages MIB9's wrote, I'd just like to know where.

This was a thread where someone specifically was thanking Kevin for his tips, not an invitation for you to jump in and tell everyone how much better your guide is and how outdated his is. Nothing has changed on the ride, so his guide, on its own, is just fine.

You both are missing key scoring areas....they just can't ALL be in there because you can't shoot everything at once!

enough with the pop-up ads already! :jester:

Well let me ask you. Am I wrong to say that it is not easier when you have the pictures to go along with the words. I think it makes things a lot easier. I am not trying to knock MIB9's handbook because if I was, I could have easily given him no credit at all. Why does anyone update something in the first place? Because there are improvements to previous versions. I am so lost on what you are talking about a 6 page guide. That isn't humanly possible to do something like that for that ride. What could he possibly have typed. This ride isn't that long! I don't even want to get in any kind of arguement about this. I just updated this. I know that people take my words to heart on these boards and make them evil all the time, this isn't the case. I just spoke. I am not the first to update this, Chris updated it and made it better so MIB999999 isn't like the super best. I can understand that because he made it a long time ago. Yeah he knows a lot more than before, I know that too. This guide is never super easy because the viewers still have to perform. If they they can't do it, well then all 3 of our guides are usless. I am giving them a strategy guide. If you look in the game department and B & N you will see strategy guides give you all the tricks and secrets. If I don't follow that simple guideline, then I can't call it that. This is though and I am not forcing people to read it. People do want to see it though. If they don't, they can read the older versions. I feel mine is a big step up with pictures and more detailed descriptions.

Ok, first off, how could you update his guide if you haven't read all 6 pages? Secondly, his guide is not anything more than a post on a thread on these boards that he took extra time and effort to make because alot of people were asking. He didn't design it to be an *important* thread, they made it one because of all the hits it got. But it IS 6 pages (and by pages, I mean 6 full posts), so my question for you was how is it you feel yours is "more detailed". I admitted the pictures help, but MIB9's didn't have the ability to take photos, nor do I believe you're allowed to, I know you have to stow all of your carry ons. That's beside the point, he had no digital camera back then. The RIDE HAS NOT CHANGED since he did it and he's ridden it way more times than you. He just has different targets than you and Chris wrote his own guide based on using some tips from MIB9's guide and also learning and discovering new things on his own and experience. It's HIS handbook, not intended (I don't think) to be "an update" like you like to call it. It does include some things that were learned by all of us along the way, that weren't in MIB9's original posts. An update implies something has changed. It's JUST A DIFFERENT GUIDE. You seem to think yours is better and more useful. The photos ARE more helpful, but they were obtained by breaking the rules. Good for you.
For the record, I didn't say MIB9's handbook was the super best...I simply said I wondered how you came to the conclusion that yours is more detailed and why you feel the need to wave your arms around everytime someone posts about HIS guide. He just did it to help people, not for public recognition.
I am also saying that your guide is simply different and since the ride has not changed, your point about his guide being 22 months old is really moot. You just choose to point out DIFFERENT targets. They work well together in fact because there are times that some of his targets might be less accessible (due to seating arrangements) and you might offer an alternate high-point target and vice versa.
I will mention, we rode several times yesterday and the exhaust ports weren't registering worth a darn, and you might point out in your new, improved, updated guide that the yellow eyes in the straightaway after the scan all give 20,000 points, just like the exhaust port. They are on the wall and the parking meters and if you're on the right track, the yellow eyes in the 2nd story window just after the scan are good for a HUGE number of points with multiple hits (to the tune of 20K per, just like the exhaust ports)

You didn't really use much of ANYTHING from his guide, and things like that are pretty helpful to know when the exhaust ports aren't registering.

As a point to those who have suffered through my post, sometimes the exhaust port doesn't register straight on, but will register when you hit it from the side, and vice versa, just keep trying after the yellow eyes have all gone out! :)

Hey, Jag....

yeah, it's basically the same! We've been in DIS hibernation sort of...as MIB9's said in another post, we've got the house now (and yeah, there are still boxes out there waiting for me to sort! ) Kevin works further away now and has been busy there, so he finds less and less time to post, and we hadn't been to Universal since the Shrek preview, so we are a little detached, I think!

That and the neverending laundry...ya know? ;)

Hey, be sure to let us know when you're down, we'll hook up to watch some football with you...We're doing Atkins, so we have to find an alternative to beer, but I still am looking forward to my football!!! :)

Karen :smooth:

Ok first off msdisney, I know this is off topic, but you see what h20jag wrote about the hulk thing. See what I mean, I highlight the thing and people still don't see. That is what I have been trying to tell you. Why can't they see something I highlighted, even if they don't believe me.

Secondly, if it was "wrong" to take pictures, why does Mike and why did the people loading me up not even care that I had the camera in my hand. I believe first off because they know me so well (this could be why, don't turn what I just said around). Maybe because there was no harm in doing that when I was the only one on. I to have been on it a ton of times, certainly not as many as MIB999999 because I only have gone there for 2 years unlike his 12 years or whatever.

Third, you are talking about 6 pages of posts, not strategy guide. From your previous post you made it sound like he had 6 pages of tricks, etc. His works I will grant you that, but I thought it was harder for people to follow that guide. That is all, not to put it down if that came to your mind. So my guide isn't an "update", then it is a new guide. You agreed with me the pictures are better yes. I don't know if you read my words, but I expanded more than MIB9's guide. As I mentioned earlier, this is my "strategy guide" where I tell all secrets. His doesn't do that and by doing so, not everyone knows the easiest way. I respect your opinion if you think MIB9's is easier, I feel it is a little harder.

About the gun not recognizing the exhaust port, did I or did I not mention in the beginning that the guide works except if you have a gun that fails. If you have a bad gun, obviously it won't pick things up. Common sense explains that. Maybe you need to explain that part again (don't get upset, I am just asking calmy). Text is harding the speaking because words might get taken the wrong way. I am only asking nice and calmy for the record to you ok.

The reason I say stay on the exhaust port is because the ride is pretty much time. No matter what alien you go for, the ride is moving at a constant speed. If you turn your eyes and gun off the exhaust port and go for the green eyes in the parking meter, etc. you are wasting the seconds you could have picked up off the exhaust port. Say the eyes and exhaust port are 20,000 pts. You have approx. 20 seconds in this shoot off. You start aiming for the eyes. First of all they go on and shut off rather than the exhaust port on constantly. So in 20 seconds you hit the eyes 8 times. Giving you 160,000 pts. If you keep your gun steady on the exhaust port, you can get that every time without moving because both cars move at the same relative speed. So there you can get it say 12 times give you 240,000 so you already got more. Obviously these statistics are not accurate, I am just proving that the exhaust port is better. Am I right msdisney? I believe so. His site is also 6 pages long because it has been there for almost 2 years and it was the first one out. I have absolutely no idea how my thread will turn out. Maybe it will turn out like his or maybe turn out to just go away. Who knows. But his isn't the only gig in town you know what I mean?

And finally. I came here to just promote my site. Get some people to start to look at it. Since it is new, I was just doing some advertising so people would glance at it. It might not be 100% pertaining to the thread, but everyone goes off the subject at times. This actually kind of pertains to the topic in that it deals with the same ride. That's all.

We were at US on Wednesday 8/13 and after hitting Shrek and Jimmy Neutron at opening (walked -on both), we headed to MIB and son Tim hit 624,000 first time through and then on second try hit 999,999 and still had a few seconds left on ride. How often do riders max out?

Without rigorous training...very rarely!!! :)

If someone doesn't know what to shoot for, it's unlikely that they will happen upon the right targets and max out...the exception can be if the ride stops in the middle and the gun is still live, you can sit there and fire away and rack up the points, but of course, that doesn't really count.

The average rider is happy when they get the suit, not realizing that it wasn't their score that got it ;)

How did he do it?
Karen :smooth:

Geese did he look at my pictures or did he just remember all that writing. That is definitely really good for only 2 times. Have you ever been on the ride before that day. Either way good job.
